  1. That's funny I thought I was the only one who had this issue. I twist it on gently, then go back a few weeks later and it won't budge! Then I break out a pipe wrench and cringe as I force it open. Great pointer though. 🙂
  2. Can't wait until things thaw out here so I can give this a shot.
  3. I bought my D2 with the 9" coil, havent been out with it much but when I did go out I seemed to be picking up targets that my Legend with the 11"; stock coil missed. I can see myself getting the 11/13 coil at some point but for now I want to learn the D2. My reasoning for getting the 9" was that, in my experience, most, nearly all good finds I have made were less than 6' and most places I am searching around a lot of iron and foil so separation is important. Look forward to learning the D2 and seeing how she does.
  4. Oh and yeah, the D2 seems like it is less sensative to EMI. Which, for me, is a huge plus. In my experience the Legend seems to struggle with EMI. I very often have to switch to single freq on it or reduce gain and recovery to the point where I question if I am missing stuff. But that is just my impression. Not knocking the Nokta. When I went to my spot with the D2 I did get a bit of EMI but it didn't drown out my ability to hear the targets. Just sayin. lol
  5. I just got the D2 and like you, my main detector has been the Legend. I have nothing bad to say about the D2. The Legend is a great machine, but the D2 is another animal. I could only get out a couple times with it. I went to a familiar place I have hunted with the Legend a lot and was surprised how many targets I was hearing on the D2 that I didn't find with the Legend. Found a bag seal, a victorian brass thinging with fancy on it and a 1951 canadian penny. Not bad for a place I have hit and hit and hit. Even with the 9" coil on the D2 it seemed to go deep. I bought it mainly for the weight and the tones, and on those points it is fantastic. Also, regardng the weight, I can tell I will be able to detect longer and reach tough spots with it with less effort. Such a pleasure to swing. I am very glad that I started detecting with the Legend. I learned a lot and I really didn't feel intimidated by the D2 settings etc. For what it is worth I got the D2 with backphones, RC and 9" coil for around $1348. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0C3MNT3LF?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details I guess if I had one thing to complain about it might be the backphones. They really hurt my ears wearing them at first but I found if you tilt the back down after fitting them they kind of hang above your ear a bit and they feel a lot better. Of course now everything is frozen so I can only stare at it lovingly until spring, lol
  6. Ok, so what do I do when my wife says I should not go detecting.... I think I know the answer....
  7. Agreed. I will say that I did just get a D2. Mostly for the weight, but I also love the tones. I had never held one until getting it and it vastly exceded my expectations. It will be interesting to see what they come up with. Also how they would market a "high end" machine against their own "best for the price" and already very capable Legend. I mean coming up with what 3 new simplex machines already makes their lineup pretty crowded. For me I just don't want to see a XP Deus 3 come out soon, that would be a real bummer lol.
  8. Was watching History Revisited video the other day. He was using the manticore, but at the end of the video he let spill a little tid bit. He said that Nokta was planning something, at first he said "high end", then corrected himself and said, "high price" and said he just can't keep his mouth shut. With all the new detectors Nokta has been dropping I would not be surprised. Guessing a Legend 2, lighter, smaller, better. probably will price it in the 1200 range, just guessing. But with Nokta vomiting new detectors why wouldnt they aim a little higher?
  9. Thanks! You covered the options perfectly. I realized I was not putting the backphones on properly. They are much better when you ease the back down after putting them on. I still dont like that design of phones but it will be livable until I get something else. Happy new year!
  10. Thanks! I actually found a video of someone showing how to put the backphones on properly. They feel excellent when you do what you were saying. All pressure on the top of the ear is gone. Awesome. I cant get over how comfortable this is to swing. So balanced and natural. Reaching out to sweep under a bush or something is easy as pie. Love it. Been detecting 3 years now and I know I will be doing this for the rest of my days, God willing, so having a detector to grow with is nice. I don't know if this is the dark side or the light side, but either way, I am a believer.
  11. Coming from using the Legend exclusively for over 2 years. Got the D2 with the 9" coil. Blown away by the weight, the balance, the build quality. Went out to a beat out site that I have been to several times with the Legend. Key takeaways, Light and a pleasure to swing. Not as hard to use as I expected. Seems as deep as the Legend 11" coil. I hate the WSA behind the neck headphones....they work great and sound great but are to me very uncomfortable. I look forward to learning the machine and its tones. I will be looking for headphone alternatives though. I know there is one or two aftermarket headphones that will work so I might do that. My piggy bank is empty now tho....lol
  12. The other day I was going to leaf blow and thought I would try the Legend headphones for music while I worked. I must say, they are really good! Then I went out detecting the next day and forgot them on the kitchen counter. lol.
  13. I just got back from the most frustrating emi nightmare with the Legend. Middle of nowhere, woods and massive emi...it comes it goes...it waits until you get a tiny target then chatter fest. Can anyone please tell me, is this the Legend or is this a fact of life with any detector? Are some detectors more resistant to emi? How can there be so much emi when there are no houses, no power lines and no iron in the ground? I am in the market for another detector either way, but is there a significant different in how certain detectors handle emi? I will say, in most cases when I encounter emi, I can adjust my settings and I am good, but sometimes the emi is just unstoppable.
  14. I have been thinking about getting a D2 for a long time, this new update sounds great. 9" coil or 11" coil? Kinda thinking 9" For deeper hunts I can use the Legend with stock coil.
  15. Gratz. Unlike you I just started detecting last year. With the Legend. I had a lot to learn and I am glad that I learned on this detector. From the standpoint of a newbie I was impressed to see Nokta stay on top of bug fixes and pushing new features the community requested, they have done a great job refining the machine and communicating to their user base. I ultimately bought a Simplex for a spare and I really like that machine as well. THere are a lot of great machines out there. I would love to get a D2 or a Nox someday. But it is good to know that the Legend gives me a great feature set for the money. I almost bought a D2 as my first real detector and I am glad I didn't, the learning curve would have been much harder. Anyway, mine is on the way to get the speaker repaired, I can't detect now anyway because of winter. I am not a "brand" guy, I took a chance that Nokta was telling the truth about the Legend and preordered it. No regerts
  16. https://www.predatortools.com/products/all-new-model-24-the-phoenix-shovel I don't have this one, but it is very well regarded. Makes perfect plugs.
  17. I watch Merril MD NYC and he dremels his coins. Drives me nuts. I have no idea how someone so knowledgable in all things metal detecting "cleans" coins so brutally.
  18. My little guy, Toby, is knocking on heavens door. Been waiting to see if he rallys, but it seems clear that he isn't going to pull through and that he is not comfortable. Not sure why I am posting this other than to say that these little friends of ours are precious and it is so hard to let them go.
  19. So sorry to hear this. My little buddy is fading fast, has a mass on his liver. only 8 years old. He is a yorkie Maltese mix, mostly yorkie, and is a very good boy. I never felt such grief about losing a pet before. I will be devastated. I don't take him detecting but every time I come back he smells the dirt to see where I have been digging.
  20. Yeah, I love PS, but I admit I raised a couple eye brows on some of his comments. I think when he says "penetrating" he wasn't meaning actaully penetrating, he knows better than that. And yes, he hunts parks. almost exclusively, so you need to remember where he is coming from. Good points Jeff.
  21. Paystreak in these videos shows what this update is all about. Along with an excellent discussion on frequencies, targets, etc.
  22. Amazing. Mind blowing. Can I ask how you cleaned your silver coins?
  23. I found one #26 Pheonix button this year on the east coast, NH. In excellent condition. My best find of the year to be honest. Awesome buttons with a very cool history.
  24. Wasn't expecting 2 coils! 9x5 is gonna be the go-to coil I bet. Sweet! Now I just gotta survive until spring. 😞
