Well, the DEUS II is now going back to the dealer for checking. I can only reach a depth of 14 cm with a 50 cent coin (Euro). At 15 cm there is no more signal. GB = 76. But thanks again for the support.

Give us some news ! :)

Hi slyworld, many thanks for the test and the additions 👍🙂
"Maybe check silent EMI, do a frequency scan and if nothing works please try a re-update. " I had already done that several times. But unfortunately nothing has changed. With the 50 cent euro coin I only reach 20cm instead of 40cm. I can not go back to the old firmware, because the update program always gets the latest firmware from the XP server. Now I have the damage.

Don't try to go back to an old version, no need. Have you tried to re-update the same version ?

Hi, after the update I now have a massive loss of depth.
Air test, restart DEUS II , P6 DEEP HC, standard values, 9 inch coil, V06 11.03.2022,
Quarter Dollar: 20 cm (dig me)
One Dime: 16 cm (dig me)
50 Cent Euro: 20 cm (dig me), before 40 cm

Can someone else please run this test?
    Vers. 13.1.2022 ? Vers. 8.3.22? Vers. 11.3.22? Ergebnis?

The curse of the V0.6 😢

Maybe verify the silent EMI, do a frequency scan and if nothing works, try to re-update please.

here, with 50 euro cent : loosing signal at 40cm like with all other versions.

So, I assume I should wait for the bug fix then it’s Ok to do the update? When bug is fixed will it result in V 0.6 date later than all other updates?

I don't think so.....I'm quite sure V0.7 is near ready so it will be out in next days I think.

Currently have the v0.6 11.3.2022 version on my machine. I have saved a custom profile with the Big Number active. When I power down the machine from this profile or any mode with the big number active and plug it in to charge, the battery charging indicator doesn't appear on the screen... If the machine is powered down from a mode without the Big Number active and is then put on charge, the battery charging icon appears ok.. Assume a bug on this current version? Can anyone else confirm a similar issue?

    Thanks.

    Big thanx to you :)

it was reported to the XP dev team. it will be corrected soon.

Hi Slyword, we noticed that the Theshold function on Déus II was more of a gadget than a real Threshold function because even when passing an object near the coil, this function was still emitting a continuous sound.
For all the detectorists who on the beach, on the goldfiels and on the relics we have this feeling of a useless function and unsuited to our detection mode.
As you made returns towards XP, was it evoked a modification of the function Threshold so that it is more effective? on this thread you will find the infos.

    Hi !

Yes, I have heard this behavior few days ago but I'm not using this function in the field so I didn't know if it's normal or not... I notified them of your suggestions, thanks you :)

Detectors electromagnetic fields in the ground behaves like cars headlights in the fog . It is not because you increase your headlights power that you will see further ...

Of course yes ! absolutly agree with you :) but if you have more accurate eyes, this more powerfull lights will help you to see further 😉 and that exactly what the Déus 2 have : some more precise components that increase the signal/noise ratio 😄

Is there a transmit power increase in Deep HC and Diving mode? I wonder if in Mono Frequency also. I base these questions on suggested battery life in manual.

On the Déus 2, you can't adjust the transmit power like on the Déus 1 but compare to it, the transmit power have been increased on the Déus 2, even in the mono program !

Regarding the battery life difference between multi-frequency programs, It's more a question of frequency : the lower you go, the shorter you last. So Deep HC and Diving use lower frequencies compare to all other programs.

Please show me where it's documented that transmit power is affected by the reactivity setting on D2.

You're right, Transmit power is fixed with the Déus II.

Glad you’re finding it funny…no explanation of what that number was during the updating process so with XP’s poor documentation leaves the user continuously guessing what’s going on.  It’s laughable alright, but not in a good way…

Sorry, I didn't want to upset you....but to be fair, if you look carefully at the startup screen, you notice under the "Déus II" logo, on the left the actual version preceded by a "V:" stand for version and on the right, this 6 digits/caracters preceded by a "SN:" who stand for serial number.

  11. Just now, Chase Goldman said:

Thank you! Otherwise, all you get is a brief flash of the firmware sub-version # during the update process (e.g., 00066B).

lol, it's not a firmware sub-version, it's the serial number of your remote control 😉 you can access this number in the same screen as I described and in the startup screen under the Déus II logo.

Well, if this is the case it explains a lot.  Since it's known that there were at least two 0.6 versions, maybe there are three (or more) and the latest fixes the bugs from a previous faulty update.  And if all this is true, I'm sure those who ridiculed others for their ineptness will step up and admit they erred at doing so....  No over-inflated, "I can do no wrong" egos in metal detecting.

In any event, it certainly seems that calling multiple releases or versions with the exact same name isn't good practice, as others here have been saying from the beginning.

The actual version is dated from the 11th of march so normally before Gary release his vidéo about big numbers.

How are you able to download again? Do you not just get a message that says you have the current version?

No, You can redo the update process as many time as you want with the same version

I have no idea. I am one who experienced depth change. Sunday I will test with my friend who has not done an update. Possibility it was the conditions, operator error or not. I will be the first to admit any faults. Calabash’s video was a good one even though being his normal snarky self Lol. He is a credit to the industry.

Have you simply try to re-update your remote control ? maybe it could fix your problem...

That doesn’t really help someone who might have a long-planned detecting trip all next week, does it?

Again, regardless of whether the issue is real or perceived, I really don’t understand AT ALL why XP has not given users the option to revert back to the previous software version, ESPECIALLY if XP is saying that none of the changes were essential to proper detector operation going forward.  Just a bizarre response…SMH

Why offering a way to revert back to a previous version who have less features than the new one ? in your mind XP should keep available every single version from the beginning until now ? 0.01, 0.03, 0.04, 0.05 and 0.6 ? When suffisent major versions of the Déus II will be available, I think XP will offer the ability to switch between major versions like for the Déus 1 but not now, no need :)

For those of you who have had some time with both detectors, what day you…is the Deus 2 a replacement for Deus 1 in iron infested sites? Is it still to early to tell?

I think too early for now because actually, D2 is quite young and it missed plenty of accessories compare to the D1 (like elliptical coil and his 80k frequency or big 13x11 coil) in addition, D1 have more options in static mode for hunting inhouse for example.

in the other hand, D2 include a D1 mono frequency program that benefit the stability and the high signal/noise ratio that comes with the D2.

    my 2 cents :)

  17. Anyway.......even if you don't trust me, V0.7 will be out soon so, wait for it and perhaps we will meet again to discuss about changes here or in the french forum (detecteur.net)

hope the best for you and your D2,

    see you !

  18. Hi everyone !

First of all, I'm a beta tester of the Déus II

Your feedback with this new version 0.6 have challenged me so I took some news directly from XP and I had confirmation that this version is only a little update just to add the chinese language and give them a little "bonus" as the big TID.

So don't worry about this new version, no discrimination change, no performance change, no EMI sensitivity change, nothing except chinese language and the big TID screen :)

    sincerely yours.
