By the way there was many buckles about when I got my first back in 1980 and a lot since. Yours is in excellent condition and worth keeping irrespective of its value.  It is a real nugget of a find.

    It’s our first find so a little over excited regardless of worth, just wanted to try to get as much info as I could. I will be going back to give it another shot to find the missing piece. It will be going in our grandchild’s special box.

  2. My husband and I have just returned from a weekend away panning and detecting and we are looking for info on our find, I assume piece is from around 1855 San Francisco. I have read basic info on Taussig. Pollack & Co we understand that to find the missing piece from buckle would have been amazing but unfortunately was not to be. Any info on history, worth, production number would be greatly appreciated. TIA
