  1. I know someone who uses one in Arizona. I've never heard of anyone having an issue with hot ground, or ground balance, as it has a ten turn pot. His ground is as bad as it gets. The only complaint I heard was maybe with hot rocks. If I was you, I would have kept the comment to myself.
  2. I'm about to go to the beach with my M15, starting with Beach Low Conductor, Prospecting audio, iron 4 upper, 0 lower. Iron volume about half the total volume, no discrimination, red iron VDI - on. I'm also wondering whether to use 3 or 4 sweep speed, with the sensitivity over 20, but not to the point to where it causes a problem, etc. Might also change it to Normal, full tones, just to see the difference in performance. Probably start by throwing a nickle down when adjusting the sensitivity and other adjustments. Then I'll take it from there. Will report my findings soon while my Deus II collects some dust for a little while. I'm becoming attached to the Manticore a lot faster than I did with my Deus. It seems very promising, and I love the information on the graph, even though I'm not a VDI number watcher, mainly go by audio, but this detector gives a lot of information. Love that. 👍
  3. Exactly. Show me something beneficial, not counterproductive, and I'll take the time to do the update. Actually, I was excited to hear about it, and then was disappointed.
  4. I think that I'll just stick to the 5.21 firmware, as I have a Deus I, but no need for me to go there as it would just be taking away my options, with no real advantages that I'm aware of? I know some people that their favorite coil was the LF 9" one.
  5. The XLT is just as good. I know people that use them and they do just as well as people using the latest and greatest, just not so well on a saltwater beach, but inland they're fantastic. If you really know how to use it, no reason to part with it. I have the Deus I and II, and I can still go over to a neighbors yard and pop out silver and copper coins all day long with the White's. Great detectors especially if you know your machine.
  6. Yeah, even by today's standards, the XL Pro analogs are still great detectors. They give you more info through the audio response than the sounds produced by digital detectors, and they perform very well in iron infested areas. Any of the original White's 6.59 kHz coils will work, as well as the NEL Snake, and Sharpshooter coils produced for White's detectors. The meters are great as they were designed for American coins, if you live in the USA, and are spot on when you find a coin. I still like the Knobs. Just set them where you want and go. Nothing like the time it takes to set up a program in a DFX.
  7. EL NINO77, In regards to the XLT modification that you mentioned, in order to be able to use DFX, MXT, M6 search coils, will this modification also work on the XL Pro? You mentioned a 0.1 microF capacitor, I found a ceramic one rated at 16V? Could you please provide a little more details in regards to the modification. I've already completed the tone modification, and you caught my interest in this one. Thank you.
  8. Yeah, you think that the engineers would have figured that out and implemented it by now. Take for instance the N/M 7" concentric coil, mount in the middle, perfect. Then you have the N/M 6" coil for the Legend, and it's all the way over to the side. The same for XP's 11x13" coil, not mounted in the center, nose heavy. You see people making gadgets so that the shaft mounts in the middle. I've dealt with engineers my whole life. That's why I kept a bottle of Advil in my top drawer. 🤣
  9. Yeah, I think the 9" coil is by far the most favored, but I do always use the 11" at the beach because there's just so much ground to cover, few targets, and I'm looking for the greatest depth.
  10. Being that I have both the 9 and the 11", if I had to part with one I would keep the 9", just because it's a do anything coil. Definitely easier to use in the thick areas of the woods and tight spots. Just my opinion though.
  11. A 9" coil is lighter weight, more balanced, and easier to get around stuff if hunting in the bush or around obstacles. The 11" is great for the beach, open areas, like fields or pastures. Both work extremely well. You could get better depth with the 11" on larger targets. It is a personal option on what you're used too, and what you're looking to do. I use both and love both coils. 9" for the yard, woods, 11" at the beach, or open areas with less trash. I actually wish they made a smaller one around 7", or 5x7".
  12. OK, thank you. I was beginning to think that it was just my headphones.
  13. In Park mode, using the wireless headphones, when adjusting the volume of the threshold, I can go up to 11 and I still hear nothing over the headphones, but when I go up one to 12, I get a loud blare sound. I'm currently using v1.07, and have had this issue since the beginning. The Threshold works as normal over the detector speaker. Obviously the Threshold should be off at zero, and should gradually increase as I go up. Is anyone else still having this problem? Is this a known issue that will be corrected in the next update? Thanks.
  14. I agree, 1/3 of the way to the center would be fantastic. I have the 6" coil, and it would be great there for adjusting and balance.
  15. I know that iron bias has already been addressed. Please re-examine the FerroCheck feature as it should be giving a more accurate identification of the target, and seems that it doesn't give a good indication of targets at depth, or no indication at all. I guess my main thought would be greater sensitivity, if that would be possible. Additionally, even at higher recovery speeds it seems that non-ferrous targets are still being masked by ferrous ones that are in high trash environments even when using the smaller 6" coil. I know that almost all detectors struggle with bottle caps (non-aluminum). If you could improve on this by providing a setting for bottle cap reject, or possibly incorporated into the FerroCheck analysis of the target. The iron bias, when incorporated, may also improve on this.
