Exactly. If I am looking for info for my Nox I just go to the Nox section. Makes it easier to search what I am looking for.

Rob I would take Walt and Gerry up on their offers.

@Swegin and @Cascade Steven If you guys need dimensions for the handle PM me your email address. I took a bunch of photos and detailed measurements of mine and saved it to a pdf file for someone a while back. They are fairly simple and would be easy to manufacture a new one.
Thank you. I can get one made if I had the dimensions. PM Sent.

This may be the wrong form but here goes. I know Bill stopped making these but does anyone know where I could get the hand crank handle assembly?

Can you get the book printed in Australia? You do have the best book out there hands down.

I already got one for the GPX 6000, and it also works great with the Equinox.
What did you end up getting if you don't mind. I see Cobill already asked.

There are a few technicians here in Oz that have huge experience with GPX repairs, circuit boards etc. I can recommend Detectronics and Detectormods. The GPX PCB diagram is well known now, thanks to ML being hacked by Chinese spies several years ago. A few hundred bucks might completely repair it and then you have a $3K+ machine that you can trade-in or sell towards a 6000 or 7000. Worth a thought.
I thought about asking Woody. I'll have to look into Detectronics. Thanks for this info.

So the previous owner had a problem, sent it in for repair, and it came back with the same (maybe now hidden booby trap) problem which has since revealed itself as a bad circuit board.
Is there a warranty (more than the minimal 30 or 60 days) if you get the unit repaired? If there is something else wrong with the detector (that hasn't been diagnosed) and it cooks another circuit board you aren't going to be happy (unless it's warranteed).
No it worked for years apparently, then died again so the guy sold it to the pawn shop without a battery which was pretty smart on his part. I had to borrow a battery from a friend. I knew what i was getting into kind of.

That is only good on new products not used.

What do you have now?
No I started with a 3500 then sold that during the Sudan gold rush then bought a used 3000 which I still have.
I think I am just going to get it fixed.

I have a GPX 5000 that needs a new circuit board. Cost is $2100. So my question is pay the $2100 or apply that towards a 6000? Then I go back and forth if I go for the 6000 why not get a 7000 I know I can get a new 7000 for $6000 or less.
I bought the 5000 from a pawn shop for $450.00 yes $450.00 I knew it had an issue but never thought that board would be 2100 bucks. It had been repaired once before for the same issue that I was having. Minelab replaced a few components for the previous owner but now they have to replace the board. So basically I would have a brand new 5000 for $2550 per the Minelab tech.

An "endorsement" , maybe just an "approval" points(cut) possible ?
I think that is it. These coils are approved by Minelab, maybe that's why they have the Minelab logo.

I would talk with Pieter every year at the Tucson Gem and Mineral show. Except this year. Super friendly and helpful and always had a very nice gold display.

How do others compete? If you mean other brands, well I'm still waiting for any other company to beat even a GP extreme for depth in mineralised ground. Ah, maybe make it a bit easier. How about the tired old SD2100. That should be an easier challenge. 5 gram nugget in mineralised ground, 14 or 15" round mono coil on the SD2100. Can any other non-Minelab detector match it?? Surely another company has been able to match a machine that came out in 1996!?? I highly doubt it.... but there's the challenge. Could be a very interesting experiment.
So a QED can't match a 2100? I don't know I don't own one but I thought I read that a QED could match a 5000.

Well first that is a stunning piece of gold. Maybe you can take it to a local university I am sure they will have something and it would be a fantastic project for some lucky student.

Now, recovering those tiny bits with the 14 in coil is a different story.
That's why I dump my scoop in my sample bag I can pan later and spend more time detecting. I have close to 5 oz's of the fly poop that I found detecting over the years starting with the Whites V-sat. It all adds up takes a while but gold is gold.

Do you think this machine will be able to hit a tenth of a grain gold nugget? That would be impressive for a gold PI machine.
Well the chart is given .05G five stars. .05g = .77 grains so it might hit a tenth of a grain. That's when carry a small sample bag comes in handy. Once the target is in your hand or scoop pour into the bag and pan it later.

Congrats on the gold Rob.

Question For Dealers Re: Customized Detector Sales

It would be nice if the manufactures would let you order a la carte. This detector with this coil and that coil. yea it would take longer and be more expensive but at least you are getting what you want.
