  1. Has anyone else had the problem where the main switch suddenly has no "OFF?" Surprisingly the machine can still be used. Another thing--If you plan to use this machine in any serious context be sure to travel with some "DeOxit." My phones were dead as a doornail and I was well into "hotboxing" the plug to get any moisture out and see if that worked. Next stage would have been a full dismantling of this plug which I probably would have not been able to reconstruct. Suddenly I thought: "Hang on--lets try the oxidization approach." Sure enough when I hit both sides of the phones connection with the deoxidizer they worked perfectly. Reminds me of the old CTX coil--when they oxidize you are liteterally "dead in the water." A good example of not "diving down the rabbit hole" during a repair. Main SW is a p..sser, but still workable. I get the sense that this fault is a result of the power jack breaking down / leaking and jamming the power back onto this SW--destroying its first stage. cjc
  2. High Performance Underwater Headphones for the Minelab Manticore These phones are professional grade. They are super loud with clean sound to identify targets and hear deeper signals. They feature pressure chamber 50mm drivers that are a combination of peizo and speaker. They also feature industrial noise blocking earcups and Sony braided spiral cable. They are loud enough to be heard through a dive hood. These headphones are impedance matched for the Manticore and have very loud and clean sound. $150 PP F&F shipped Fed Ex Expedited (3 day). PM me for more info or e-mail to: cliveclynick@rogers.com
  3. Hi Kerry. Its not so much that I'm sensitive to criticism. More that Im tired of groundless cheap shots that poison others opinions of what are otherwise decent works. Your comments do not quite reach that level lol. GoodLuck with the Manti. c
  4. That's a great response and very accurate. I found that the 800 handled salt water poorly with the 15" coil---it kind of 'chattered". Im hopefull that the 900 will be better but the processing of the Manti does a great job. Do they give more depth? Hard to say. There are posts here saying that higher sens can b e used--something to do cautionsly and with some testing. When you skew the signal to noise ratio of a detector, the ground conditons make much more ofadifference--less margin for error. As with the Manti I think that the Prospecting type audio t hat t he 900offers has a good large coil potential as; more of the prossessing job is in the filters. Salt water is the real test of big coil performance and with thewse machines that maintain threshold so well, testing is essential--its easy to thingk that they are going deeper than they are. cjc
  5. Andy and I agreed long ago that we write about different things. Mine was out when peope needed something other than the manual to expand their understanding of the Manti. His-- (which I will buy too!) will for sure be more comprehensive. Not really a fair comparrison. Good Luck Hunting, clive
  6. a good heavy chunk of 18k will cleanse you from head to toe.. c
  7. I have seen the end...not on a pale horse either... Its the gradual sick realization thats nasty...no--cant be.... see PM. cllve
  8. No but Im having one made by one or the Eastern European buddies. The one Eric made has intermitancy inside the shell--terrible. .Super lucky to find someone who has the specs and wherewithall. clive
  9. Even easier. take out the battery. then place the screen end in a deep bowl of water. then place your mouth over the bottom of the handle and blow. if there are bubbles coming out--you have a problem. Regards clive
  10. I like them while they worked but I returned them once after about a year, then they went again after about another year, this time the speaker--done. They are in the pile now lol... c
  11. These are not bad either. I've dealt with the manufacturer and he uses a special boost circuit. Didn't last that well though--calll em like I see um. cjc
  12. Don't forget the new kid on the block. Louder than the Threshers, great sharp response. I can't take them off now and have sold my 105's. Cheaper than any of them too. Impedance matched to the Manti. cjc
  13. Okay I fixed it guys. Rather than try and dig the epoxy out of the surrouding channel or Dremmel the machine side, I took a spare charger and Dremmelled the outside ridge lower. Total relief to see that green light flashing and a good example of how easy it is to go down the "rabbit hole' of incorrect thinking on these repairs. Good thing there was no soldering this machine would be in the garbage lol. I have an elaborate looking bench (pic)--but my terrible secret is that nothing ever happens there... Thanks kindlly for the replies. cjc
