Nice gold Peg you've got that Zed figured out. Last trip out Linda found a 3.5 gramer  I found the skunk. Keep up the good work!

Thanks George....and congrats to Linda on her great find! :-) We'll have to get together again up at the Basin this summer!

  2. Excellent report Lunk! I'm glad I decided to add the GM1000 to my arsenal....can't wait to get it and try it out on the tailing piles and lode mine gravels up by my cabin! Plus, it'll be a fun lightweight unit to use in the desert when taking a break from the zed. :-)

I was re-thinking my post and the thought occurred to me..

I haven't ever found enough gold to make a substantial monetary gain....

So that proves I will do it for the fun...

I do like finding it tho

Same here Paul! I tell my friends "I'll never find enough gold to pay for all the toys I bought to go look for it....even if I live to 120!" But I don't care.....it's the getting out there and looking for it I love. However, I definitely like finding some though....hate the skunk! ?

Got one too. Sadly, I will not be out with it anytime real soon. My mom has been diagnosed with advanced cancer and I am spending as much time as possible with her in her last few months. Lots of family coming too, and if that's not enough, my house is ripped up for a major remodel. I'll get out with it in a few months when the weather warms, got a lot of places I want to try with it - trolling for lunkers.

Sorry about your mom...it's tough. Hang in there....those big lunkers will wait for you!

  5. Detected some gravels from a hard rock mine near my cabin....used GB2 in Iron Disc due to lots of trash and iron. Lots of pyrite, some galena, and other sulfides(I think that's what they are?). Some small speci's and thin sheets after soaking in CLR. Still need cleaning, but will take care of them when I get back from wintering on the Treasure Coast of FL. Maybe I'll find a gold doubloon or silver piece of eight while there! Wish me luck!  :-)image.jpeg

Great gold I'd say.  More than I've found in several trips up there.

Last year Lucky showed us some spots up there and I got a lesson on my 7000.  Before that I've been up there with my 5000 but ...

I'll be up there this time next week for about 3 days.  I hope to hookup with someone that can put me in some still productive areas.  I know it is 'everywhere' but also long stretches in between.

Lucky wasn't there while I was, but you may run into him on your trip as Rye Patch is his stomping grounds. With the 7000, I did best looking for old PI dig holes and going over the old patch.....the 7 did amazing finding stuff the previous technologies missed. Of course, looking for new spots is what prospecting is all about....I found some scattered gold, but no big patches that hadn't been hunted before. Good luck on your trip!
