  1. I've had some success drywashing dry bench areas that I've found small nuggets in while detecting. I get all I can with the Goldbug 2 then start shoveling dirt into my Thompson puffer....it's fun and I can squeak out an extra gram or so! :-)
  2. Congrats Klunker! Now Paul, you get out there and find some.....I have to live vicariously through you guys while in FL this winter! ??
  3. Nice gold....congrats! One of my favorite places to detect and enjoy the scenery.
  4. Sorry about your mom...it's tough. Hang in there....those big lunkers will wait for you!
  5. Did you get out much with your 7000 after the Rye Patch hunt? Save some mother lode au for me for next summer! :-)
  6. Detected some gravels from a hard rock mine near my cabin....used GB2 in Iron Disc due to lots of trash and iron. Lots of pyrite, some galena, and other sulfides(I think that's what they are?). Some small speci's and thin sheets after soaking in CLR. Still need cleaning, but will take care of them when I get back from wintering on the Treasure Coast of FL. Maybe I'll find a gold doubloon or silver piece of eight while there! Wish me luck! :-)
  7. Yes, absolutely incredible gold! Must have been super fun and exciting to unearth! Thanks for sharing. :-)
  8. Gorgeous gold! That'll definitely remind folks where to find you....here on the best gold forum! :-)
  9. Same here, Brian! I haven't been able to get out since the trip last month....so I live vicariously through others on the forum for now! ?
  10. Cool looking nugget! Love that northern Nv gold, and over 1/2 oz....you did great! :-)
  11. Hey, it is heart-shaped!❤️ Didn't notice that till you commented....must have done it sub-consciously, love detecting for nuggets so much! lol?⛏
  12. Looks like a great time! Klunker really got you with that "screamer"!?
  13. Thanks for the kudos guys, but Lucky, I don't think I'll ever be able to teach you much you don't know already! :-) Have fun next week!
  14. Lucky wasn't there while I was, but you may run into him on your trip as Rye Patch is his stomping grounds. With the 7000, I did best looking for old PI dig holes and going over the old patch.....the 7 did amazing finding stuff the previous technologies missed. Of course, looking for new spots is what prospecting is all about....I found some scattered gold, but no big patches that hadn't been hunted before. Good luck on your trip!
  15. ......you guys left a few for me! :-) Was at Rye Patch and vicinity while the Nugget Shoot was going on; didn't participate in event, but met a lot of nice folks who were down for it and will next year for sure! Got some nice nuggets, several while wandering looking for new patches, but most at known areas.... that 7000 is an amazing machine! Unbelievable how it can still sniff out some gold in obviously pounded places! Here's some pics...had a great time: beauty of the high desert, comradarie of other prospectors who love the hobby as much as I, and the spiritual time of solitude....oh, and the AU! :-)
  16. Met him while detecting this week at the patch....nice guy; Roustabout was showing him around. Yep, I think he came the farthest!
  17. Bummer about your journal.....hope you find it. But I'm sure you'll still be able to share lots of useful info etc! Thanks.
  18. Yes, thanks for info Fred.....will look into them. Would need to rent some sort of camper van etc, and safely get my detectors over there.....logistics logistics! Time to start planning! :-)
  19. Great timing on this thread Steve, as I've been toying with a "bucket list" trip to the land down under next summer! I know I could probably find more gold plugging away here in the west and southwest, but the adventure appeals to me! Looking forward to your continued posts! :-)
  20. You had quite a road trip! Nice story. I'm planning on going to Virgin Valley for opal in future...did you just do the tailings vs digging in the bank? Which mine did you prefer overall? On your next trip, consider Spencer, ID for digging in opal tailings....I found some nice specimens.
  21. Love my pendant you made out of my Gold Basin nugget.....thanks! Great meeting you too!
