Got one too. Sadly, I will not be out with it anytime real soon. My mom has been diagnosed with advanced cancer and I am spending as much time as possible with her in her last few months. Lots of family coming too, and if that's not enough, my house is ripped up for a major remodel. I'll get out with it in a few months when the weather warms, got a lot of places I want to try with it - trolling for lunkers.

Sorry about your mom...it's tough. Hang in there....those big lunkers will wait for you!

  2. Detected some gravels from a hard rock mine near my cabin....used GB2 in Iron Disc due to lots of trash and iron. Lots of pyrite, some galena, and other sulfides(I think that's what they are?). Some small speci's and thin sheets after soaking in CLR. Still need cleaning, but will take care of them when I get back from wintering on the Treasure Coast of FL. Maybe I'll find a gold doubloon or silver piece of eight while there! Wish me luck!  :-)image.jpeg

Great gold I'd say.  More than I've found in several trips up there.

Last year Lucky showed us some spots up there and I got a lesson on my 7000.  Before that I've been up there with my 5000 but ...

I'll be up there this time next week for about 3 days.  I hope to hookup with someone that can put me in some still productive areas.  I know it is 'everywhere' but also long stretches in between.

Lucky wasn't there while I was, but you may run into him on your trip as Rye Patch is his stomping grounds. With the 7000, I did best looking for old PI dig holes and going over the old patch.....the 7 did amazing finding stuff the previous technologies missed. Of course, looking for new spots is what prospecting is all about....I found some scattered gold, but no big patches that hadn't been hunted before. Good luck on your trip!

  4. ......you guys left a few for me! :-)

Was at Rye Patch and vicinity while the Nugget Shoot was going on; didn't participate in event, but met a lot of nice folks who were down for it and will next year for sure! Got some nice nuggets, several while wandering looking for new patches, but most at known areas.... that 7000 is an amazing machine! Unbelievable how it can still sniff out some gold in obviously pounded places! Here's some pics...had a great time: beauty of the high desert, comradarie of other prospectors who love the hobby as much as I, and the spiritual time of solitude....oh, and the AU! :-)

Heading out at 5am to Rye Patch.  Will report back to HQ when I return. I've  already heard we have our participant that probably came the furthest to the Nuggetshoot.  He is from South Africa.  Dang.

Met him while detecting this week at the patch....nice guy; Roustabout was showing him around. Yep, I think he came the farthest!
