  1. Great pictures and story! There are some weird-ass critters there, that’s for sure!? p.s. and I didn’t mean you guys lol?
  2. That cracked me up.....love it lol! But I seriously might have to consider getting one of those coils.
  3. What a cool hunt! You guys are playing up in my neck of the woods ?
  4. Been back from wintering in Florida for over a month, and the weather finally got nice so headed to northern Nevada to meet up with some friends and nugget hunt. I got there a day before the others, so took off on the quad to look for new spots. Love the freedom the atv gives me out there, and the scenery is great! I explored some higher ravines and washes, and actually got a nice little .68g nugget a couple inches down at the edge of a wash. Unfortunately, after quite a few hours hitting the area pretty hard, that was the lone piece. We looked for new patches about 60-70% of the next week, and hit a couple old ones the rest of the time. Lots of skunked days. I did get 3 more pieces at a pounded patch, and another while detecting an alluvial fan off the mountains for the first time....Chet got one there too, but the gold was so scattered and random...no patches to be found. While wandering around I noticed this little guy....he wasn’t shy at all, jumped from rock to bush, and waited patiently for me to turn my phone on to get his pic. Here’s my take for the trip....much smaller than usual for my Nevada outings. Very tough hunting, but a great time anyway. Enjoyed some delicious meals with the guys(Tom is an incredible camp chef!), Chet had repaired and souped up my dry washer over the winter so it’s ready for action up at the cabin, and George found some amazing crystals and gave me a couple cool ones. Brian even made a cameo appearance, and as usual found some nice gold in a short time! So the sun sets on another detecting adventure....can’t wait for the next one!
  5. Wow you did great with the Nox considering the ground conditions...congrats!
  6. You’re having a great year so far! Congrats!
  7. Some incredible finds! And cute little helper too ?
  8. Awesome finds for a park! You did your homework and some great detecting, I’m sure!
  9. Thanks for sharing your gold hunt experience with the Nox....I’ve been using the Gold Monster exclusively when in Idaho, but will have to give the 800 a try!
  10. Wow! Must feel amazing to find such a cool bit of history! Congratulations.
  11. What a productive 2 hours! It would take 2-3 days or more to find that much stuff on our beaches! However, I do have quite a collection of lead fishing weights lol. Too new at beach detecting to figure out your clue though?
  12. Have you found any small gold with the GM1000 or Equinox, ie near bedrock or along benches etc? Not sure if I’d fork out the $ for a gpz in Virginia.....have you tried different coils on the 4800?
  13. Yeah, we’re only open 10am-4pm.....I’m there most Sat and Tues afternoons. Terry is a great guy....very happy to share his knowledge and show his finds.
  14. The detecting has been so poor along the beaches, I’ve only gone out a couple times since getting here last month. I volunteer at the McLarty Treasure Museum and the last nice find we heard about was down in Ft Pierce in early June after a storm....a beautiful gold and emerald Spanish Treasure ring was detected...we have a picture in our “finds” book. I use the Nox 600 pretty much in Beach 1 default settings, 50 tones, but am still a Newbie with it so not much help! The TCAS Hunt was fun last year so might go this year too....do you guys know Terry Shannon? He’s a friend of mine here who is a local detecting legend...check out his YouTube videos to get you primed for your visit here! ?
