  1. 350, good story, pic's and finds. Good luck on your next prospecting adventure!
  2. Have you noticed all brands are sticking to smaller sizes, there is likely good reason for this I think your right about small coils being a better match for the 6K, even the current 17'' does not add much depth over the 11'' which I think is a great coil.
  3. Thanks Steve, never thought of doing it that way before, will do it that way from now on.
  4. As Steve mentioned, I have dug in areas in Northern NV. that a detected signal would sound worth digging and when a mound of dirt came out of the whole, the excavated pile would sound off on the detector just as well as the hole it came from. Almost always in reddish and moist soil. Always a disappointment when you know you have dug for nothing. I would rather find junk than nothing.
  5. Have you seen Gerry’s and his friends underwater finds with SDC’s? If something has value, it goes in Gerry's mouth.
  6. Some of my 5000 Coiltek coils are camo colored, white coils are OK though.
  7. phrunt, that is a nice crevicing kit, I have one that is a lot like that.
  8. When you see a picture of the moon you see what seems like un-countable number of craters. Due to Earths greater gravity more meteorites are suspected to have hit the Earth than has impacted the Moon. This puts on display how dynamic erosive forces are on this planet. Most impacts happened during the time called the great bombardment millions/billions of years ago which cleared out most of the meteorites from our orbit.
  9. Cool story, amazing that there is that much left of the engine after all this time. Hope they can find enough money to restore it.
  10. Good luck Vance, hope it all works out and you find some gold. You will learn as you go what works best. Keep checking the forum and you will gain valuable information.
  11. I think a pin pointer has a a place in prospecting. I have saved much digging in areas that have some or a lot of metal trash by scanning the surface and finding the trash without having to dig. Some areas are covered with grass and weeds so side sweeping with your foot to try and push the surface trash out of the way does not work. A quick sweep with pin pointer easley finds the trash. Some times when a small target is detected in the ground it may have a favorable flat exposure giving a good signal, when removed from the hole, if flat it may be in a vertical position making it harder to detect. Moving the pile around as phrunt suggested could expose it again with a clear signal.
  12. I use a similar method, if I dig say 3 '' of soil out of the hole and no signal in the pile, I push the pile further away from the hole and dig the next amount of dirt and put it in front of the last pile, keep using that method until I come up with the target.
  13. I have purchased a few Coiltek coils for my 5000, never a NF coil. I will look into buying one for the 6000 as many folks on this forum have sworn by them, has to be something to it.
  14. I don't think a 14 inch DD coil for the 6000 can compete with the 7000 13 X14'' or the 19'' ( or Z coils) as they are different technologies. The 7 will still detect deeper than the 6. It would be a good coil to have though.
  15. I am going to continue using my 7000 but because of the weight, only on flat ground and take more breaks than I normally do. The 6000 will be my most go-to detector from now on for a lot of good reasons. My 5000 will be my back-up gold machine. I have found most of my gold with the 5K, so I am still very fond of that detector.
  16. I have used Doc's battery pack since I have owned my 5000, I do use a bungee cord but I could swing it for hours with out it. The 6000 is very light and needs no bungee. The 7000, is heavy.
  17. Condor, your still way ahead of me, at least you can post pictures. Nice gold.
  18. Interesting, I need to get out soon to use my 11'' , 14'' and 17''more before I can decide see what other coils I may need or want. I wonder if they will be camo colored?
  19. F350, yes a diesel, my truck is a 16, I pull a 38 ft. toy hauler or can if fuel prices come back down. I paid off my truck as well a year or so ago. I added a 50 gal. fuel tank to my 8 ft. bed that also has a tool box on the top of the fuel tank. I too am retired about 2 years ago. Love that truck.
  20. Some nice and some not so nice F350Platinum. Good luck on your next hunt. Hey, by the way, I could be called F350Lariat were I not msc.
  21. Nice gold araqratgold, hope you find lots more.
  22. This guy came prepared, a well done video, can't believe he set up a pool to catch rainwater, thanks for the link.
