I have a DFX. When I first purchased it I read the Owners Manual but much was over my head at the time. Purchased " Digging deeper with the DFX" by Jeff Foster. That helped a lot, and I was very impressed with that detector. I understand much more due to this site. Thanks!

I was in the area of Sawtooth, I hadn't seen a Rattler in this area ever, I do own 2 sets of Snake Chaps but never wear them. One early morning I was detecting, stepped over a bush and heard a hiss, I turned around to see a 2-21/2 ft. Rattler looking to strike, just dumb luck I hadn't been bitten. I will wear Snake Chaps from now on. As mentioned previously, they really are not a hinder to wear. If bitten, it will be unimaginable pain and expense.

Camels and horses were also native to North America around the same time. Both migrated to other places from here.

It is a shame, I have and use a White's detector at times, wish they could have found a way to keep going.

Could mean a lot to some folks.

I have to agree, it is not a meteorite, I have found several. There are a few sites that you can access to research meteorites or leverites. I believe this is a leverite.

Welcome Gypsy, we all welcome new folks and hope to see you often on the forums.

Sounds like that is the only size for now. Can't see me buying one as it is too close to the stock 7K coil.

Good going Peg, great photos.

Be heading there when it cools down some, I'll report back if I find something.

Just ordered one Doc, thanks for your efforts.

I have a 5000 and a 7000, the 6000 would have to be super special to entice me to buy one. Have to give ML credit for always looking to improve their products.

Looks like TCB Metals & Refining will purchase gold, 704-791-9025. The pay perhaps 93% of spot price and according to the % of pure gold in the gold.

I don't think so, it is a very good magazine especially if you are a gold hunter, worth subscribing to. Sorry, don't have a better solution.

There have ads in ICMJ's Mining Journal for refiners of Gold in the past, may still be one or more listed.

Just turned in $112 of pennies, nickels and dimes, no larger denominations. May help some.

Never met Fred but just from reading his post, felt that he could have been a friend had we met.

Thanks for this site Steve. I have not been lucky enough to have someone show me the ropes so most of what I have learned is from this forum. Thanks to all that have shared their knowledge.

I wrap my magnets with a good electrical tape, black sand any metal are easily removed using gloves, The tape after a while starts to wear out but is easily removed and replaced. Also helps protect the neo-magnets from breaking as they a fairly brittle.

Good on you Rob, continued success. Merry Christmas and Happy New year to all out there.

I would like to see myself in 2020 being as successful finding gold as I have in 2017 and part of 18. I have tried several out of the way, new places this year and have not found anything. I have to say though, some of the places I have been to were pretty cool, just no gold.
