I have tried but have not so far, found any detectable gold in Utah. I have found several areas that contain quarts and detected some of those areas but so far nothing. There is find gold to be found in some streams. 

Klunker, if anyone knows anything about something, it would not be someone else but you.

We all may watch for different reasons, so no one on this subject can possibly be wrong. Great thing about our hobby, we are the same in many things but different in many things also. Just enjoy what you like.  

Good subject. I have to agree that Jonathan Porter, then Chris Ralph, Phasetech Nenad are my top 3 but some others mentioned on this page are worth watching also.

Thanks for the heads up. I sent my 6000 to detectorrepair.com, treated me just fine, had no bones to pick at all. 

I have since found a few meteorites, some while metal detecting for Gold, a couple while looking for them specifically using a earth magnet on a ski pole. Next to looking for Gold, meteorites are the next best thing to look for. 

Like 350Platinum, when I was a kid my friend and I were riding our bikes in late afternoon when we heard and saw a huge meteor with a multi-colored tail flying across the sky. There was a crackling sound as it flew by. We couldn't tell how high it was but it appeared to us that it went over a hill a few miles away, we thought it landed there. We rode our bikes miles to try and find it but didn't. This was during my summer vacation from school, found out when I went back to school in the Weekly Reader that the meteorite landed 500 miles away from where we were.  

Doc, I'm with you, the Nugget stalker pick is really well made and can move a lot of dirt with each scrape. 

Klunker, I understand, you need to see what you are not hearing, makes sense. 

I have 4 pairs of Keen's, 3 of them I got from a work incentive program, they work good, they are short tops and sometimes dirt and stones get into the boots, but not a big deal. I purchased a pair of Doc's high-top boots and like them very much, comfortable, just wish the laces were speed laces. When I first started looking for non-metal boots, I brought my pin pointer with me to the boot store, got some weird looks, now a-days I can tell which are and which are not metal without a pin pointer. I have a lifetime of no metal boots now. 

Doc, I think your idea of a nut and bolt is a good idea for the hipstick, mine tends to come out of the socket often as well. Put me in for 1 when you develop one, thanks. 

I really like this style of knee pads as when on your knees and digging, dirt and stones do not get between your pads and knees due to the pads extending above the plastic pads.

DSMITH, I hear you, I put a large 2'' X 1" X 1/2" thick earth magnet. Yea, you could be pulled to the nearest car or truck if you don't let go with that magnet.   

Scares me every time I hear about 6000 troubles but with fingers, eyes and toes crossed, I have not had any trouble with mine. Good luck, hope for better luck with yours.
