  1. This may be of interest. Got a couple more similar vids to come.
  2. For wet sand if I want depth, I use my GPX5000 in Salt-Gold timing with an appropriate coil. If I want jewellery I'll use the SDC2300. If I want to reject iron I'll use my old Sovereign (Or 3030 if I'm going deeper than shallow pools). With the Detech 13" I get plenty of depth still. I think it's about finding the best application for what's already out there. I'll worry about new technology when it comes, but yes full (reliable) discrim on a PI would be the bees knees, even if it was just on iron targets. That would be a beach hunters dream machine.
  3. Yep, I've got more in transit, but I can only ship to Australia. This is a Nugget Finder product, so will be available through Nugget Finder dealers in the US. Cheers, Nenad
  4. I was actually quite surprised the 19" was seeing it as well as it was, considering it was a small ball of lead. Remember big coils go deeper on big gold, but won't see small targets as well as smaller coils. Yes very true about some settings not being useful when searching around, but if you watch it again you can hear when the settings are not going to work in that spot, as the coil reacts to the ground as you pass the target.
  5. Just a point worth mentioning: The SDC adaptor lead I make has a 1/4" socket on the end, so can be used to plug in whatever you wish - headphones, boosters, wireless systems. The one supplied in the Pro-Sonic kit has a USB plug on the end, so can only be used to plug into the wireless Transmitter. Another unknown unless I've missed it is expected run time. The best part about the Pro-Sonic kit is that it is essentially a booster, wireless receiver and speaker in one. This removes the need for a lot of wiring, and charging multiple devices. I always chase best/cleanest sound quality, so hopefully the Pro-Sonic delivers.
  6. My nugget tally with the Z19 is slowly growing. What is evident already is that it'll get the bigger bits down deep, but still doesn't miss the smaller stuff. Confusing signals are reduced, and confidence in a good deep response has grown. In hot ground, factory preset settings with Volume up 1 or 2 clicks, and Sensitivity down 1 or 2 clicks and it runs great.
  7. I generally run my Volume Limit on 9. If I'm in an area with quite a bit of shallow trash, I'll drop it to 7
  8. The Fors Gold+ is great in that you get two great gold sniping coil sizes as standard, 10x5 and 5" round. The all-metal mode is nice, not as smooth as you can get it on the Gold Racer or Racer 2, but targets are very bright and zippy. For my large hands, I prefer the handle style and shape of the Fors units. (If you've seen my youtube videos on the gold racer I have wrapped some padded tennis racquet grip around the handle). I have no experience with the newer Gold Bugs, but like Steve said you'd sort of be trading one mid-freq VLF for another. I'd probably keep the Gold Bug, and get something a bit different, like the Gold Racer as that will give you a much higher operating Freq. Then you may end up keeping both, or decide to offload the Gold Bug when you see what the Gold Racer is capable of.
  9. Jonathan, what Sensitivity level did you have to use up in your neck of the woods? I had to use it on Sens 10 to keep it from falsing, and even though that was a few clicks off max, I felt like it lost 30% of it's performance. Also had to swing it so slow to reduce any falsing and maximise sensitivity to small targets, I just found it tiresome to use.
  10. Deteknix, Minelab, Nokta & Makro pointers don't interfere with any detector when they are switched off. Can't believe Garret hasn't fixed this issue with their pin-pointers. Is the orange AT still the same?
  11. sound much like an SD series to me, but a bit different to a GP.
  12. Can you divulge why the Pro and SPP variants have been discontinued? For what it's worth I think it was a good move, the SL was the one TDI model that stood out for me, but still with many niggling things than could be cleaned up and improved.
  13. I compare High Yield to General a lot on undug targets. Often the case is if I've found something in HY, General will usually also see it, but the response may be weaker. But when using General, if I've detected something bigger or more solid, when switching to HY I often get a very wobbly or fluffy response, so General definitely better. So if you want to get all the smaller stuff, stick to HY, but if you don't care about missing the odd tiddler, but like the idea of hitting a better deeper bit, then stick to General. What is interesting in the graph is that with the 19 in HY and Difficult, seems to be matching the 14 in HY and Normal. I found a lot of my early Zed gold in HY/Norm but was restricted to milder ground. If I can get that level of performance in hotter ground.......fun times
  14. The Gog Phones I sell have 150 Ohm drivers (same as the Sunray Pro Gold's), and these sound really good on the Zed. You can hear all the warbles, wobbles, woo-ees and every other target response the Zed makes
  15. Fantastic blog by Phil Beck http://www.minelab.com/anz/treasure-talk/the-gpz-19-coil-does-it-really-detect-30-deeper Study the depth chart carefully
  16. You can't win with doing tests. Yes in the real world, undug targets and using each coil on it's optimum settings for the day is how we find stuff, but if I used different settings for each of the mono coils it wouldn't be a fair comparison. Also, I agree a fresh dug target isn't going to be the same as a target in situ, but for the purpose of a test, it is still a level playing field, and the data is still meaningful. I mainly did this test to show the capabilities of the Detech's and the Evo's against the "out for a while" 14" Elite. I think what the test showed well was: 1. The larger spiral coils have impressive sensitivity 2. The same old rule of small coils are better for smaller gold and bigger coils get better depth still applies 3. The 15" DD Detech spiral is one sensitive coil! To repeat this test on undug targets it would take a team effort, and unfortunately many of the recovered targets would be junk. Some time after doing this video I did some tests on a 12" Evo, 11" Detech Ultra, 14x9" Evo, 8" & 6" Detech mono, and 12x7" Nugget Finder Advantage. Pretty sure I posted the results somewhere but can't recall where. The two coils that got all targets where the 11" Ultra and 12" Evo. Out of these two, I felt the 12" Evo was a bit more aggressive with the exception of the hardest piece in the test sample, the 11" Ultra had a slight edge on this bit (the 6" detech mono was actually best on this one). But two other guys who were present for the testing were both of the opinion that the 11" Detech was the best all-round, due to it's smooth running. The guy with the 4500 bought one to go with his 14" Ultra mono, and has given me positive feedback on both coils. For what it's worth, if I had to dwindle my GPX5000 mono coil selection down to 2 coils, I'd probably keep the 11" Ultra mono and 17x13 Spoke Evo.
  17. Yes did that straight away. 17x13 Evo vs 17x11 Advantage, the Evo had a lot more sensitivity, and target signals much sharper. You could even drop the Rx Gain (on a 5000) by 3-4 numbers, and still benefit, and you know what happens when you drop your Gain 3-4 numbers, you reduce EMI by a lot. I've also compared 15" Evo vs 16" NFA, and the difference is quite staggering in favour of the Evo. The Advantage is still probably the better choice for pre-GPX units, as they don't have any of the "smooth" timings, but I can imagine in mild enough soils, a 14x9" Evo strapped to a GP would do some serious damage
