I've done both. I've been a mining lease holder twice. But what I've never done is leave my detector holes unfilled. After all these years, I find it astounding that d*ckheads still leave holes open. Mostly they are 'newbies' who are unaware or purely ignorant of common sense or haven't got the brainpower to see the ugliness of what they leave behind. Sure, we don't want others to know what we're finding, but surely common sense etiquette means you try to leave the site as you found it? Many a time, I've spent more effort back filling morons open detector holes than digging my own.....
Many times I have been alerted to an area seeing unfilled detector holes, and I check out the spot that I otherwise would have walked straight past. Also many times I have found gold in and around these holes. Fill in and check again, and often more signals under where the dirt was piled up.

Printed displays are limited in how you can present stuff, but the Racer 2 is a perfect example of how with some clever thinking you can present it in a logical way.
The side buttons on the Equinox I don't have a problem with any of them, apart from the User button yes - that would be nice to be on the front panel.
An easy solution to this would have been to just make the All-metal horseshoe a User button and make it assignable like on the GPZ7000. So by default it selects All-metal, but you can assign it to select one of your own custom modes or even factory modes.

Wow that's quite excessive to put it politely. A Nokta 10x5 solid skid is $17.00 here in Australia, and I'd charge $9.50 postage.

Excellent report, pretty much mirrors my testing and feedback I've been getting from customers.
The winding is a flattened bundle. So somewhere between a bundle wind and a flat wind. I think this gives the best compromise between sensitivity and ground handling, and being an elliptical coil that will be used in scrub, you don't want the pin-pointing to be too far in from the edge like is the case with a full spiral coil.
One thing I really like about it which follows on from the design of the Evo coils is the chamfered bottom edge. The stock 11" coil has a very square edge, so the Xceed glides along the ground with less restriction.

Got my first batch of LG24 coils. I really like the design on them - quite a few little differences to previous 24 sized coils.

That scoop looks well engineered. Less than $150 US or $220 AUD.
$168 AUD through me.

Yes, you can do that. The Gold Kruzer was a good attempt. Mine had coil knock issues but it was a prototype so maybe just mine. Kind of moot now. If I am going to use a multipurpose detector then I chose the Nox over the Gold Kruzer myself. I was talking about what I or others might like in a newly designed detector, and I was suggesting that a simple machine with only the controls needed might be a way to go. But whatever, it's just a discussion thread. I don't very often use a VLF to nugget hunt anyway.
My Gold Kruzer has the smoothest threshold in any VLF gold machine I've used. It's like cranking up the V/SAT on an old goldmaster, but without losing all the sensitivity. All high freq VLFs will suffer some knock sensitivity (whether its in the coil or the cable) its just a nature of the beast. There isn't a single VLF gold detector that is totally immune to it, current or past detectors. Being a prototype, yes maybe you got a bad one.

The Gold Kruzer got it close but suffered from also trying to be a coin/jewelry detector. Legend even more so.
Just ignore the 3-tone mode if you want, and the Gold Kruzer is exactly the machine you are asking for. The 3-tone mode makes it a killer micro jewellery machine, so why would it be a negative?

Yep, flyschitt or bits is what I call the really tiny ones. Something around half a gram may occasionally get called a nuggy, especially if it's got a bit of character.

Hi Ray, just curious, have you taken the new Axiom back to the spot you did the first video in?
In that first video it reminds me of the days on the 4500 or 5000, when someone was trying to run a mono coil in Normal or Sens Extra, and a flick to Enhance just smooths it right out, and all those hot ground signals largely just disappear.
Q2. Where you are saying that in certain spots the 6000 just doesn't like the ground for some reason, I'm suspecting a higher salt concentration in those areas. Have you tried the 14" DD in this instance?

Looks great, but seems to be missing an arm rest 🤠

For some reason the testers / youtubers aren't willing to say anything about what audio these detectors have, they just don't respond when I ask. As soon as it gets into a regular users hands we will know.
One of my customers upgraded his Nox800 for a Nox900. Wanted the new shaft set-up and a new warranty. I got to put it together for him, and we had a bit of a play with it. The shaft is awesome, as is the push button sliding armrest. Handle feels better than the 600/800 handle. Backlight looks great as does the backlit keys.
The audio sounds exactly like the previous Nox's to me, but I haven't done any critical listening through headphones. The dP (depth pitch) option is different though, which is basically like the VCO audio modes on other machines. Always loved that for either focusing on shallow recent drops, OR ignoring shallow junk and listening for the mellower deeper targets. Scrolling through the menu is the same as the 800.

Yes, 900 grip feels better than the 800 grip to me. But I do have large hands.

Not sure if you were asking Phrunt or myself, but I haven't used the 16x10 yet.

I envy all you guys who find heaps of VLF gold. 90% of the ground where I hunt is just too mineralised to use them anywhere near full potential. When the ground dries out, it possibly opens up 10% more areas. I just need to focus on quartz wash type soils, and stay away from the red clay. Still it's hard not to grab the GPZ or 6000.
As for which will be better, I'm curious to find out as well. I'm hoping whatever the rumoured improvements were made to the Manticore's prospecting mode have filtered down to the Nox 900 as well. I'm kinda curious about the Pitch Depth audio in a Disc mode vs the prospecting mode. Sound wise, to my ears at least, the Nox 900 in factory mode sounds just like a Nox 800, but the Manticore sounds a little more like a 3030 maybe??, but prospecting modes on both machines I have no idea. Hopefully get to have a play with them soon.

Sorry to disappoint, but that would be replicas of the Hand of Faith nugget, and the other one looks like the one that was found in WA - can't remember the exact details, I might be wrong.
Probably taken on a detector shop floor.

In my limited time behind a TDI, the original TDI and TDI Pro Oz with the changed ground balance pots were both very unsettled in the threshold department. What was worse was to get the threshold level to where you want was a micro movement of the threshold pot. A fraction of a turn to the left and it was too quiet, and a fraction of a turn to the right it was too loud. Always thought it could have done with a higher value pot, or even better one of those 3 3/4 turn pots so it allowed for a finer tuning.
As for threshold Stability, yes the TDI SL was a lot better, and I thought whatever mod was done to achieve that would be great if it could be variable, so you could set to to where you want between Standard (ratty) and SL (smooth), like the V/SAT on the goldmasters.

If the ground is mild you will get better depth in Sharp timing over Normal. A higher Rx Gain on targets that large isn't really going to get you any more depth, it may sharpen the signals somewhat, but it'll bring in a lot more EMI, especially on a coil that size. The factory Deep mode is a perfect starting point.

I wish the CTX3030 wireless module would just work on everything, GPZ, Equinox, Manticore, gpx6000.
Robust, good audio, rarely drops out, and nice 1/4" socket. But they made a WM12 for GPZ, and a WM08 for the Equinox with a 1/8" socket, and none of them are compatible with the 6000.
I have plenty of detectors. Would be nice if I could have one or two of my favourite headphones, and 1 wireless module that would pair to whatever detector I want to grab.

Very deep machines on larger targets. They can still fetch around $1000 here in Oz.

I believe you can still get the aluminium junction boxes, if you want to use a different size battery (where the standard plastic dome won't fit). There is a half size 7ah gel cell battery you can get which is still good for a full days running, and the weight is about half.
