Put it this way, if you lower your threshold too much, you need a greater signal to bust through to the audible level. Very faint variations in the threshold remain buried in that silent range.

Yes only an inch narrower, but the 12" is a full 300 grams lighter than the stock coil. 

When this is hanging off the end of the shaft, there is a huge difference and improves balance by a lot. I believe the 12" coil kept a lot of guys swinging a GPZ that were ready to offload them and get something lighter. I remember reading many comments early on that guys were going back to a GPX5000 or 4500 with a small'ish coil as they were much easier to swing than a stock GPZ. 

I'm like you Rob, the 12" has pretty much stayed glued to my GPZ recently (whenever I haven't been swinging the 6000), but I'm keen on getting onto some better gold with the 17". Only had very limited time on mine, but already dug a few deep holes to know it's going to produce if the gold is there.

Sorry, missed your question. Same as the stock headphones, i.e. you won't notice any delay unless you are swinging super fast. 

Never used a GMX sport so can't comment there, but Legend vs Gold Kruzer is an interesting one. The Legend in Multi-Freq with the 6" coil actually is quite powerful on tiny gold, BUT only where mineralisation doesn't hamper it. The Gold Kruzer just maintains a steadier threshold in bad ground, and this makes small variations pop, or pull you up. The multi freakers in my experience can't maintain such a steady threshold in their multi-frequency modes, and the few times I have used the Equinox in the goldfields I have gone to 40 or 20 kHz quick smart as the stability of the machine was vastly improved. 

I had planned to do more with the Legend in the goldfields, but with gold being so scarce around here, and me being busy with the business and testing Nugget Finder coils, it hasn't eventuated. This constant rain also doesn't make me too enthused to head out either. I'm kind of hanging out for a mid sized/elliptical coil for the Legend as well, and if that comes out late spring or summer then I look forward to giving it a swing in a few trashy areas where I wouldn't dare set any PI coil to the ground.

Yep, you just explained why if you intend to work around water, a fully waterproof machine is good insurance. 

When it comes to small gold in mineralised dirt, Gold Monster is better than Equinox, and Gold Kruzer is better than Legend, so at this point in time, the old school thinking is still accurate in my opinion. Maybe in milder soils it's different... I don't know. 

Not quite Noise Cancelling, more Noise Blocking being a full cup headphone, the Quest WireFree Pro is also available in a Low Latency BT version, which will pair straight up to the 6000. They are a little cheaper as they don't come with a transmitter.

As both a hobby prospector and retailer, that's where my thoughts are at the moment. Like Steve I do like new toys, and need to know how they perform.

The two factors for me are Price and Performance. Both are very muddy at the moment. One thing I know for certain is that is takes 45 secs to do a Noise Cancel, I think I've seen that about three times in the videos already 😋 Can you do it manually?

A DD in the "E" (mono) switch position will run a little quieter than a straight mono coil, but it should still give you a fair idea. I.e. If in "Normal" (DD) the coil is very stable, but when you switch to mono mode you are getting a lot of false signals, then you can be pretty sure a straight mono isn't going to work out. 

Here's an image of the 16x10" Xceed coil. Approx 880g. No I haven't tested one yet, but I like the look of it! 

There was a heap of Tesoro's available on ebay, for many many months after the company folded. Stock seems to have dried up, and any that are still available the price seem to have increased by 20% or so. Maybe it's the poorer Aussie dollar but that's what I'm seeing from my end. 

Interesting about the audio. The diablo II micro max is analogue then, and the Vaquero digital, but I always thought the Vaquero was smoother. Maybe it's more filtered? Maybe it's the slightly lower tone? Maybe a combination of both. Might have to charge up some 9V's and see if they still fire up. 

These are the key ones for me, but the others are also very welcome!! 

1. Iron Filtering from 1 to 8. Current 1.07 value equals setting 8 which will also be default in 1.08.

3. VCO “Tone Pitch” audio added to Park, Field and Beach.

7. Audio Gain adjustment in Park, Field and Beach for boosting audio on weaker signals.

9. Last discrimination setting before shut down will be retained on startup.

10 Threshold tone frequency (pitch???) for Park, Field and Beach will be default 10 and Threshold tone improved.

12. Sensitivity will automatically be lowered during the setting of Notches.

To put it simply, a PI detector can use a Mono coil, because there is a pause between transmit and receive cycles. So the same winding can be used for both. ZVT cannot use a mono coil, so it isn't a Pulse Induction machine in the true sense. I have always explained the GPZ as taking the best characteristics from VLF and PI and meeting somewhere in the middle. 

I still love the GPZ, its performance, ground balance, audio, robustness etc etc. 

Simon, the Detech concentric coil is good on the beaches but only with the GPX5000 Salt Gold timing. On the Salt Course timing of the 4500 you just can't null out the salt signal. This is true also for many mono coils. You can get it to work with a few setting tweaks, but a Salt/AI coil or a DD coil in Cancel mode will run dead silent. 

These coils are very cool. Very light for the size, they cut down on ground noise and EMI like a DD coil, yet they give a sharp signal like a mono coil. On the 5000 I found I could run Normal or Sens Extra in ground where I had to use Fine Gold with a Mono coil. The later camo ones come with both the spoke skid plate and a closed one. DD and Mono on the coil switch also gives you different performance characteristics. 

The other way you can look at it (especially in light of material and shipping cost increases) maybe the Sadie is just a bargain at the moment. 

I'm looking forward to trying it on the beach. That's where I need the extra coverage AND am happy to dig as deep as required. 

I have been using the LS Pelso headphones with the Legend and the audio is good, and threshold works as it should. 

Yep, got this lot chasing ghosts in a well pounced old patch. I was running Sensitivity 2, Volume 2 with the Minelab headphones, with the SteelPhase Gel Pads fitted. It obviously worked, but reminded me how much I hate the Bluetooth crackle. I will stick to sP01 hardwired wherever vegetation isn't a real issue.

Don't worry, plenty more tiny pieces of gold in nature than big ones - that is true everywhere. Not to mention the bigger ones are/were a lot easier to detect, so the tiddlers are all that is left in many spots. I just like to reserve the title of Nugget when I get the odd bigger one, and anything over 10 grams can be called a LUMP 👍 As you know, I am in South Australia, probably the worst state for detectable gold. Actually we do mine a lot of gold here, but it is predominately what is produced as a by-product way way down by the big miners.
