  1. They could always have premanufactured parts sent to other factories and just ship updated parts or download software updates. Then they could assemble with the latest parts to supply initial orders in the U.S. or Europe. So, it is possible but, as you say, phrunt, unlikely. Today Minelab made two posts within hours of each other on their Facebook page. I've always seen them separate the posts by 2 to 4 days in the recent past. The latest post are just photos about Minelab presenting the Manticore in Mexico which happened weeks ago and were basically non-events. Maybe we need a spy in Malaysia to let us know if or when they see Manticores being shipped in mass from the factories.
  2. Here is a little info nobody has mentioned. In 2009 Minelab through their parent company, Codan, moved their detector manufacturing from Ireland to Malaysia with a manufacturing company named Plexus. Plexus also has several manufacturing facilities in the U.S., Europe and one in Mexico in addition to their Malaysian manufacturing facility. If you have an Equinox that was purchased during the initial release of that machine check to see if it was manufactured in the U.S., Mexico or Malaysia. That might tell us if Minelab is having some initial U.S. orders filled from U.S. or Mexico manufacturing facilities. Or if we are looking at shipments coming from Malaysia only.
  3. I would assume they fly the initial batch and ship the rest. I don't think there are as many pre-orders in the U.S. as one would expect. One dealer said they were somewhat light on orders and my dealer said I am at or near the top of his list although I didn't order until early October. I don't know about Europe but December for much of the U.S. means you can't even use it until March or April.
  4. That's encouraging, Hunterjunk. Maybe there will be a Nov. 30th release date and mid-December customer delivery date after all. I think the November FCC filings were some sort of headphone ID notification and not a long drawn out approval of the technology. We will know soon. But the lack of release of the pdf copy of the manual is worrisome for a quick release. The Miner's Den website says, "Anticipated release November - December 2022" Of course, that may only pertain to you chaps near Australia.
  5. We'll just have to see since there isn't any evidence to date to even compare the two machines. I did own a CTX shortly after they came out. I don't recall much about the screen but it was heavy and I couldn't find crapola with it. I don't think I had it that long so I didn't learn its nuances. Anyway that's when I sold the CTX and decided to give up detecting until something much better arrived on the market. If the Manticore isn't it, I'll probably sell everything detector related and retire permanently from dirt fishing.
  6. Well, I don't believe that the Manticore won't outshine both the Nox and the CTX. If not, then just unload it and go to the Deus II. Financially that would probably be a push.
  7. phrunt, you don't think they could improve on the CTX3030 Target Trace in 10 years? That would be a very sad state of affairs. Worst case, they have been hiding a mediocre Manticore detector by not releasing appropriate videos or tests and we wind up selling them for a few hundred (U.S. Dollars) loss. NEXT!!! LOL
  8. Not a peep from Minelab but Southern Relic Adventures has posted a video discussing the Target Trace screen just a bit as far as the information anyone has from Minelab. Minelab, either announce the release date or get some videos out for buyers to see to keep them interested. Radio silence is not helpful nor necessary!
  9. Wow!! Now that's a fright....er... I mean a frite.
  10. Read this about Manticores: "Manticores wander and fly around...... roaring occasionally. Manticores will notice the player from a 12 or 16 block radius, and will sprint or fly towards the target to attack." Watch out Deus II swingers.
  11. Not so fast, John. "Belgian food historian Pierre Leclercq has traced the history of the french fry and asserts that "it is clear that fries are of French origin." ~ Wiki
  12. LOL I could be dead before Minelab gets this detector in my hands, GB!! Of course, that could be said about any of us mortal souls. Sometimes I feel like I'm supporting the Manticore threads in this forum all by myself. Some days HOT and some days COLD.
  13. I thought that video was funny. All that about searching the old church and then they were just mowing the over gown lawn for them. Presumably so they could detect the grounds at a later date when the Manti is finally released.. I noticed they were wearing snake gaiters while mowing. There must be really nasty snakes in the tall grass even in the city in Australia.
  14. No, I think it is a legitimate concern for some water hunters.
  15. You're in Belgium and I am in Texas, John. I doubt you will get your detector any sooner even if I pull my order! LOL Since I don't need the $1600 I'll probably just let it ride. But I will be very disappointed if we get to December 1st and haven't gotten any announcement from Minelab. Do you think the Manticore is going to leak, Doc? I guess they ALL will leak eventually if you take them in the water repeatedly. I'm not concerned about the control housing leaking since I'll probably never take it in water above my knees.
  16. I don't know if the Manticore is coming at the end of November or the end of January. But I do know Minelab is letting the Manticore story die. There hasn't been a 'real' video on Youtube about the Manticore in action for over a month and talk of the Manticore on the MD forums is dying out. People are starting to forget all about the Beast. I'm not a terribly patient person and I have a Legend in hand to play with. Maybe I should pull back my $1600 Manticore order until after it comes out and we see what people say about it.
  17. And Minelab filed for Manticore ML-105 headphone ID approval just 3 days ago. If I am reading this right, the FCC granted it the same day. Minelab Electronics Pty Ltd has filed for FCC ID approval on ML105 Wireless Headphones https://fccid.io/Z4C-ML105 8:40 PM · Nov 14, 2022·FCCID.NET
  18. Well, I just heard from my Australian dealer friend. He says nothing has changed. Still expecting an end of November release. I guess we'll see what happens.
  19. That sort of blows my theory out of the water, phrunt without a breakdown of hobby detectors vs gold detectors. I did, just now, send an email to that Australian dealer to see if he is still singing the same tune. I assume I won't hear anything until tomorrow U.S. time since it is night there now (as you know).
  20. I suspect the majority of Minelab customers are in Europe and North America. If that is the case, planning an early winter release for a new outdoor product is insane. "By Christmas" was a scam on us customers to manipulate us into not buying something else. But, there is that dealer in Australia that told customers that he was sending in orders to Minlab and told "His" release was going to be at the end of November with shipment arriving to customers by December 15th. I'm tempted to email him again and see if that is still his expectation.
  21. At first that wouldn't work for me. So, I did the other, holding the power button down then when it restarted I was able to do the Profile and the Pinpoint button to get the little revolving square then the Fd. I'll try and skip the Power button reset next update. The uploads went without a hitch. Anyway, I'm all set now. Thanks, everyone, for you help and support. I appreciate it.
  22. I think that yellow really pops and looks good too. I think orange probably works pretty good, too.
  23. Wow what a haul! You must have gotten your Manticore sooner than the rest of us!
