Manticore and Equinox 900 did well on all of Iffy’s separation tests in those two videos.
Jeff, to me being able to understand what is likely under the coil is more important than absolute depth. The major detectors are so close on depth I find it unproductive to worry about which will go deeper in this circumstance or that circumstance. Even though I don't have a Manticore yet, I really like the clarity of the screen, the TT feature and the ease of menu navigation. But, as far as Minelab's marketing goes, I would like to fire the entire department.

Strick, did those square tabs all come in at the same TID or were they all over the place?
Nice hunt regardless!

Thanks, Chase. I think today's Bluetooth tech is faster than many are aware. APTx aim is 40ms or less. Bluetooth LE's aim is 30ms or less. Bluetooth 5.3 at less than 10 feet is supposed to be about the same latency as APTx depending upon the receiving device. And, there is also the option to go with wired to a belt clip like the Garrett Zlynk for about $150. Plus all the options you just listed! The options abound!

Sorry, but that's not the way it works.
You haven't seen the improvements in the ground radar devices lately.

Suit yourself. It's your money.
I'm not married to anything. But I do know I won't be using the ML-105s in next summer's heat.

Pretty impressive the Manticore can confirm 3 different targets on the coil sweep. Clearly the Manticore won that test.
The visual aid of TT will definitely help me. Others seem more attuned to hearing the tones. Everyone is different in how they perceive what a detector is telling them.

Detector manufacturers don't want to create the ultimate metal detector. They want to create a detector that is just good enough to be a little better than the last guy - or the last iteration. That way they can hold back on any breakthrough technology and release it a little bit at a time to keep detectorists buying the next 'best detector' brought to market.

I wouldn't call that slim pickings. There's gold in them finds!!

That's not a low latency transmitter. Are you using low latency headphones? If you are going to pass on the supplied Manticore phones, highly recommend you use an APTX low latency transmitter and APTX low latency phones, otherwise the lag will make it difficult to line up and pinpoint your targets.
No, it isn't. I don't know if my ears can even tell a low latency set of phones from those that aren't.

Maybe I won't post any more "vs" videos here even from those vid posters who most consider unbiased. It just creates too much controversy. Everyone can find those comparison videos on Youtube and draw their own conclusions.

Also, interesting to see the Deus II users opinions. Thanks.
And here is Calabash Digger's experience with the two machines at the beach on a 15 inch nickle.

I'll probably use one of these (or a similar) plugin transmitter on my Manticore to be able to use the headphones I prefer. You just can't wear regular headphones in the Texas summer heat. Not an affiliate link.

Here is an interesting test of the Manticore vs the Deus II on a gold bar and a gold ring masked by two nails. Which machine is better at sniffing out the gold?

Bluetooth LE will connect with any standard Bluetooth device, it will just run in a legacy mode with no low latency.
Good then. I'll just run it with my bone conduction headphones. Who cares if there is a micro second delay.

I would watch when I got home, but sounds like that's a no?
Who said it was a "no"? I thought it was quite informative and I think he reloaded it after removing that long black screen section at the end. It is only 46 min. long now.

Then will it connect with regular old Bluetooth headphones or only with the aptx or LE?

The FCC application says they used Bluetooth LE so it makes no sense and for some reason nobody with one will answer the question.
If there are no or few other Bluetooth LE headphones available to test it on or unless it is somehow backwards compatible with other Bluetooth devices how would anyone know if it is Bluetooth LE or proprietary?

Dave, I hope the Manticores are on this ship that docked Friday. It looks like there are 23 pallets of new detectors from Malaysia so I am hoping those aren't all Nox 900s. I know Gerry is expecting some of those real soon. Maybe we'll get our Manticores next week and I'll have to send Minelab an apology!
But, enjoy your trip. I'm pretty sure you will have your Manticore before you leave.

This on the Customs Import page. Could these be Manticores or the Nox 900s that Gerry is receiving that somehow got ahead of the Manticores that everybody wants? Bill of Laden says these were shipped from Malaysia and going to Norfolk, VA. The buyer is Minelab Americas in Naperville, IL. (Chicago area).
I think I read that there are about 40 detectors to a pallet so that would be about 920 detectors. And, Calabash Digger just released a short video saying his Manticore is on the way, so maybe this shipment is the Manticores!
ARRIVAL DATE: 12/9/2022 (Yesterday. Worth noting was that this ship was expected on 12/03/2022 and was 6 days late)

Black screen usually means you fast forwarded too much
Blackscreen starts at 46:15. Some edited scenes are near the end.

If anyone watches a 1 hour and 20 minute video unboxing a detector can they please let me know if the guy mentions if the thing can use standard Bluetooth devices. I can't bring myself to watch it and to even flick though it to find the spot he mentions something about audio would just take too much effort.
I just want my own Manticore, not to watch others fiddling with theirs 🙂 unfortunately they are just taking too long to get the things out in the wild.
I watched it. Didn't see or hear anything about the Bluetooth. Best is to try to connect after your get your Manticore home in 2023 or 2024.
The last half of the video is just black screen and some of his edits that needs to be deleted. So, it isn't as long as you think.

here it is, nice guy!
Great! Thanks, dsb. I'll take a look at that this afternoon.
There is a new video on the unboxing, assembly and more on the Manticore. this guy goes into great detail that some might want to watch and pick up on.

About Manticore From Nasa Tom
in Minelab Manticore Forum

There is some good information on the Manticore over there. I've pasted some settings and suggestions mentioned there into a text file for quick reference. That forum is just so hard to read, though, even on the proper settings.
