  1. I'll have to look up that video and see where the legal (to detect) beaches are. I think Padre Island is off limits now but I'm not sure.
  2. Dave, I have Galveston and the Gulf shore a few hours south of here but I haven't gone down there since we moved to Texas (about 15 years). I've heard the water isn't that nice since the Mississippi drains into the Gulf then currents send the muddy water west. Still, I probably need to schedule a few days to go down there with my non-existent Manticore. Since there are still two weeks 'til Christmas, I guess there is still time for Minelab to get it to me and other Americans in their advertised time-frame.
  3. Well, I am done with discussing whether dealers should keep the first detector of a miniscule shipment when customers have already paid for it. It is pointless to repeat what I've already said. Minelab and their dealers aren't going to be swayed from what they are doing anyway. Everyone here knows my opinion.
  4. I think when you have customers who have ALREADY pre-paid for a product, they deserve to be filled as soon as product arrives. They stand ahead of the retailer in that regard. That's the policy at every electronics retailer.
  5. Well, it seems one customer was lucky enough to receive one of the 14 Manticores sent to distributors/dealers. His dealer apparently was honest enough to give it to one of his pre-paid customers instead of keeping it for himself.
  6. Of course, it isn't the dealer's fault, Gerry. But I do blame Minelab for advertising the Manticore would be available to put under the Christmas tree then not delivering. 14 units is NOT honoring that promise. It doesn't matter if the U.S. is #1 or #10 in sales. It's about customer service and following through with promises. As far as brand loyalty, a company that gives customers the runaround then fails them with delivery promises deserves no loyalty. I'll buy a Minelab product as long as I think it is the best product for my needs but if another company comes out with a better detector that I think better suits me, I'll be right there to switch to that machine. Dealer loyalty is another matter entirely.
  7. They will be coming out with the new CTX 4040 next fall/winter so you'll be able to get in on that waiting game, Chase.
  8. Minelab, if you read this forum, and I suspect someone in management does, it is only 16 days until Christmas and not a Manticore in sight in the U.S.A.!! The 14 units for the dealers to play with doesn't cut it. How about having the CEO fly over here and present us with one or several ocean freight containers full of Manticores so those who have already pre-ordered will have them in time for Christmas? If you can't do that then don't run full page ads saying they will be here for Christmas. Time is almost up!
  9. Trying to get a Manticore is like pulling teeth!!
  10. Oh no!! I hope you get it maybe tomorrow or early next week! Maybe they are busy shipping them out to answer your email right away. Isn't it very early in the morning there?
  11. From the videos I've looked at (and I've looked at almost all of them) sometimes the TT seems to be a little different than just a ferrous vs conductive TID number. I don't claim to know why but sometimes it looks as though the width is outside the TID numbers flashed on the screen. BTW, phrunt did you get your Manticore this week?
  12. Unless there is two feet of snow on top of frozen ground by the time we see our Manticores!!
  13. Yeah, that's what I need - a horse tranquilizer. Send one for my dog too, she's young and sort of hyper. I'm not only gumpy but I have no patients either and I've been waiting over two months. My psyche doesn't deal with that very well but don't worry, I'll survive the wait.
  14. 100 is a few days too, strick. Specifics, buddy!!
  15. Besides my message to Minelab, I have thought about ordering from an Australian dealer and paying to have the Manticore shipped two day air or something. But, I decided that was probably going to cost me a few hundred dollars extra and I would wind up with two of them so I scuddled that idea.
  16. I hope you do get one and quickly, longbow62. Not being one to hold my disgust inside (yeah, I'm a grumpy old man ), I contacted Minelab and let them know they need to get more Manticores out the door to the U.S. quickly if they don't want to anger American customers. Afterall, we were sort of promised "By Christmas" from their full page advertisement in Prospector Magazine. I've probably made sure we won't see anymore Manticores here until February with my tart message to them!! But, it made me feel better not just sitting here being a patsy.
  17. My dealer confirmed there are only 14 Manticore units he is aware of being shipped to distributors. He sounds like he is angry that Minelab isn't shipping more and faster to the U.S. There are a lot of people here waiting for these machines.
  18. Wow! Just 14 Manticores! That can't be an entire shipment, can it? I wonder if Gerry is still going to be able to fly to Chicago to pick one up to take to Mexico. And, as far as the 700 and 900 Nox I doubt they will be in production for a couple months or longer.
  19. How to tell when the Manticore shipment hits U.S. shores. If your dealer isn't on top of his contact at the distributor or Minelab Americas here is how you can tell when they arrive. Of course, this FREE service might have a delay built in that I am unaware of. Otherwise just scroll down and see if any large shipments have arrived at Minelab Americas. In some cases it even says what has arrived and how many. https://importkey.com/search/minelab
  20. From this video alone, I would say yes, at least for me. The plots are very telling in my sense and this doesn't even cover those plots that show multiple items on the screen. But, to each his own.
  21. Looks like a French dealer is offering a 5% discount on the Manticore. I don't speak French so I'm not certain.
  22. Digalicious, here is a new video that provides a better understanding of how the Target Trace 2D screen presents various objects scanned. It might help you answer some of your concerns.
  23. At least it is on the way to you and before Christmas. But I sure hope the row boat Minelab sent them on to Canada doesn't have any problems navigating the fridged waters of the northern hemisphere. Now that I think about it, Minelab Americas is in the Chicago area so everyone in North America is probably looking at the same time frame.
  24. That's so true, la torche. Looks like another day without a Manticore Cessna shipment arriving. I guess I'll go do something constructive like writing a Christmas check to Toys For Tots or the local food bank. Maybe that will remind me what is really important in life.
  25. Here it is folks. https://www.minelab.com/__files/f/494595/4901-0419-2 Inst Manual, EQUINOX 700 900 EN.pdf
