Gerry, that picture on the beach kinda hurts my snow covered feelers right now...

Dave, I have Galveston and the Gulf shore a few hours south of here but I haven't gone down there since we moved to Texas (about 15 years).  I've heard the water isn't that nice since the Mississippi drains into the Gulf then currents send the muddy water west.  Still, I probably need to schedule a few days to go down there with my non-existent Manticore.   Since there are still two weeks 'til Christmas, I guess there is still time for Minelab to get it to me and other Americans in their advertised time-frame.

  2. Well, I am done with discussing whether dealers should keep the first detector of a miniscule shipment when customers have already paid for it.  It is pointless to repeat what I've already said.  Minelab and their dealers aren't going to be swayed from what they are doing anyway.  Everyone here knows my opinion.

That's one of the perks being a dealer you get the first round of detectors distributed. Also gives them a chance to use it and get to know it so they can educate their customers. Nothing wrong with that IMO.

I think when you have customers who have ALREADY pre-paid for a product, they deserve to be filled as soon as product arrives.  They stand ahead of the retailer in that regard.  That's the policy at every electronics retailer.

I was shipped 1 detector.  Was informed some dealers received Zero. .......So we did get some Manticore Pre Christmas.  No, it's not great news but realize we are not #1 in sales anymore.....

Of course, it isn't the dealer's fault, Gerry.  But I do blame Minelab for advertising the Manticore would be available to put under the Christmas tree then not delivering.  14 units is NOT honoring that promise.  It doesn't matter if the U.S. is #1 or #10 in sales.  It's about customer service and following through with promises.

As far as brand loyalty, a company that gives customers the runaround then fails them with delivery promises deserves no loyalty.  I'll buy a Minelab product as long as I think it is the best product for my needs but if another company comes out with a better detector that I think better suits me, I'll be right there to switch to that machine.  Dealer loyalty is another matter entirely.

  5. Minelab, if you read this forum, and I suspect someone in management does, it is only 16 days until Christmas and not a Manticore in sight in the U.S.A.!!  The 14 units for the dealers to play with doesn't cut it.

How about having the CEO fly over here and present us with one or several ocean freight containers full of Manticores so those who have already pre-ordered will have them in time for Christmas?  If you can't do that then don't run full page ads saying they will be here for Christmas.  Time is almost up!

I am using a dealer I don't normally shop with as my normal dealer sold his business and the new owners seem to be going through a few learning curves being new to retail and didn't seem organised enough to get in the Manticore queue in time.  The dealer I'm using said they expected them to arrive by Friday (today) and then they were shipping them overnight to customers so I paid them immediately when they said they're now accepting payments due to the pending arrival, I emailed them Wednesday to check if it's all going to plan and have not yet had a reply, turns out they were closed Wednesday due to lack of staff from Covid so I really don't know, I figured they'd reply to an email but maybe not, I'm not a regular shopper with them so I don't know much about their customer service.

Oh no!!  I hope you get it maybe tomorrow or early next week!  Maybe they are busy shipping them out to answer your email right away.  Isn't it very early in the morning there?

  7. From the videos I've looked at (and I've looked at almost all of them) sometimes the TT seems to be a little different than just a ferrous vs conductive TID number.  I don't claim to know why but sometimes it looks as though the width is outside the TID numbers flashed on the screen.

BTW, phrunt did you get your Manticore this week?

  8. I hope you do get one and quickly, longbow62.

Not being one to hold my disgust inside (yeah, I'm a grumpy old man ), I contacted Minelab and let them know they need to get more Manticores out the door to the U.S. quickly if they don't want to anger American customers.  Afterall, we were sort of promised "By Christmas" from their full page advertisement in Prospector Magazine.

I've probably made sure we won't see anymore Manticores here until February with my tart message to them!!    But, it made me feel better not just sitting here being a patsy.

  9. How to tell when the Manticore shipment hits U.S. shores.  If your dealer isn't on top of his contact at the distributor or Minelab Americas here is how you can tell when they arrive.  Of course, this FREE service might have a delay built in that I am unaware of.  Otherwise just scroll down and see if any large shipments have arrived at Minelab Americas.  In some cases it even says what has arrived and how many.

My question isn't really about how the ID map works, but rather, if it has any benefit over TID and/or tones.

From this video alone, I would say yes, at least for me.  The plots are very telling in my sense and this doesn't even cover those plots that show multiple items on the screen.  But, to each his own.

I'm in glorious (but cold) Canada. Was just told by my dealer that he is expecting a Manticore shipment on the 21st (2 weeks from now). woo hoo! I'll do the ~ 45 minute drive over there and pick it up in person...cheers

At least it is on the way to you and before Christmas.  But I sure hope the row boat Minelab sent them on to Canada doesn't have any problems navigating the fridged waters of the northern hemisphere.

Now that I think about it, Minelab Americas is in the Chicago area so everyone in North America is probably looking at the same time frame.
