We can only conclude that the first arrive by plane in the first world delivery. Thanks for the information...

Well, it's been a week so that plane must be flying all around the world with the U.S. as the last stop.  Or maybe it is just a little Cessna and they take a few then have to go back and get some more then they deliver those and go back to get some more and on and on.

They're in transit from distributor to the dealer, so they were ringing the folks on their preorder list to take pay with the intention of getting them back out the door the same day they come in.

I didn't ask how many they were getting but they confirmed I was in the first batch so likely to be one of the first UK customers in the wild to lay hands on one 🙂

Good deal.  At least they have landed in the U.K. and it won't be long now for you.

I think phrunt said he would have his this week.  Hope it is in the mail to him already.

Just had the retailer I'd preordered with on the phone to take payment (UK) - all paid up and should be in my hands in the next few days 🤠

So, your UK dealer has received his shipment of Manticores?  Or they are on the way from the UK distributor?  Do you know how many he received?

  4. Digalicious, I think you are going to have to wait until some users have the Manticore in hand to know precisely how the Target Trace helps them beyond sound and TID numbers.  Or you will need to try one and see if it is helpful to you.  Maybe you will just be happy with sounds and watching TID numbers.

And, of course, the Target Trace screen is not the only advantage that the Manticore brings to the table.

  5. I'm sure others here much smarter than I will give you a better explanation.  But for idiots like me, my ears aren't good enough to distinguish two targets vs one target jumping around and I often can't tell that the TID jumping back and forth is doing so between two (or more) targets or just one inconsistent target.  The Target Trace will solve that problem for me in most cases by showing me two distinct targets or a ferrous target smeared into a good target.

Also, the TID is the  X scale on the screen left to right.  But there is no TID for the ferrous ID on the Y scale (up and down).  The Target Trace screen is showing you both scales together to improve your understanding of the target(s) under the coil. That's just my 2 cents.

The site formatting gets messed up when you browse around via the navigation links (at least it does on my browser due to security controls), I recommend removing the s from https and the www. from the page address bar when you change pages, i.e. changing https://www.dankowski... to http://dankowski...

Its another example of a Detector Forum website that could use Steve H. to come over and setup a modern forum structure for them.

Well, I'm guessing it's a no seeing that if you go to their website and click on accessory coils for the Manticore they're different coils.  I think it's been said because of the 50% extra power to the coil they won't work with Nox coils, something like a nuclear chain reaction starts and your coil explodes with the potential to destroy your entire neighborhood or something, I can't remember the full story but they're not cross compatible.

Not only that but the shaft/coil connection is different.  The Nox has the ears on the coil and the Manticore has the ears on the shaft.  (Advantage Minelab - buy new coils)

Certainly tempting, Cal, but with a perfectly operable 600 and 800 in my "stable," it's hard to justify buying a new 900, just to use as a backup.  Decisions, decisions!

    Steve

Minelab would love it if everyone replaced their 800 with a 900, ordered a Manticore and saved up enough money to buy the new CTX 4040 that's coming.  I think I will just stick with my Legend and Manticore when it arrives.  I've only got two arms to swing these toys.

  9. Gerry, you will let us know when you track down where those Manticores for the U.S. market are at, won't you?

I can imagine my little Manticore as it rides heavy seas in the Pacific Ocean wondering if it will ever make it to its new home in Texas.  The 40 foot container holds him and many other little Manticores all wondering if they will make it to their new homes in a distant land.  Or will their container simply slide off the back of the ocean going transport in stormy seas to be lost forever.

My guess is ML is gonna drain Nokta’s smaller cash reserve vs their much larger bankroll, not so much win the case.  If they do its win win for Minelab and possibly good bye to Nokta 😕

I hope Nokta doesn't go out of business.  The competition spurred the creation of the Manticore and new Equinox models.  Plus I, and many others here, have a Legend in our stable of detectors and would rather the company stick around even though we have ordered Manticores.

    Manticore length

Anyone know yet if the Manticore is built long enough for someone that is 6'4.?

Or do I have to detect on my knees like the last 10 year's worth of detector releases.

Maximum Extended length of the Manticore is 1440 mm / 56.7 inch
