  1. Nice VDO, but pretty noisy, dredging is tough work, I had a nice 3 box 5" Keene that worked me pretty hard.... Hope you get some nice gold......
  2. The Klutina River that flows thru Copper Center has a bit of 1898er stuff in it. Those tough old Prospectors built boats at Klutina Lake sites and floated the river. Many did not make it as this river starts out pretty placid then turns into a monster...I have some campsites to hunt near the main river that is very close to my home...There is a small cemetery there also that I tried to maintain but it is slowly returning to its natural state..These hardy souls had dreams and purposes, many ended at that peaceful serene place very near the river... RIP 98ers...
  3. Maybe just a sturdy shovel and patience, think that might be a better way, some shovels have sifting holes in them...
  4. Steve this is a great well run forum, I like reading the posts from all over, I really like that folks here share info willingly hoping to help someone just getting started.. We both know it would have been a lot easier to learn if places like this site were around in for instance in the 70s when we were novices..I bought my first unit in 1972 and I learned by basically digging everything." I can say I've met some very interesting folks including yourself in this hobby..Years ago I used to travel to Nebraska to attend the Treasure week, I was fortunate indeed to have met some folks there that were really into Treasure hunting...A lot of them are gone now, including my Mate... What an adventure it has been... Norma June and Van Fossen. Houston Texas in the late 80s

  13. Yep there's lots of iron parts in the ground at Jack Wade, Years ago I was privileged to meet the old miner that had a lot of property there. A very nice old timer and he gave me permission to hunt on his claims..He wanted me to check with him everyday and I thought that was more then fair..His cabin was on the claim that has most of the buildings still intact.. I laugh to myself still, about him calling me the Detective ... I had good luck on the claims in fact I'm still part owner of some ground on the lower end of the valley....Here' a. Photo of typical JW gold, heavy. Shotty nice looking nuggets. That piece came out of a bedrock crack that produced about 9 nice nuggets, this one is 1.5 ozs.......
