  1. Hit a really hard worked out area in the Mojave this last weekend. With a little know how from watching Bill Southern's videos on the Gold Monster, reading Steve Herschbach's literature on the Monster and a lot of persistence I managed to beep up some good gold! Bedrock and tailing piles were the cats meow in this situation. I also wanted to mention that I picked up an old pair of Koss TD/80's with the 1/8" inch plug and adjustable volume that work flawlessly. -Mike
  2. I purchased a Plugger Equinox 34" inch carbon fiber one piece shaft and I can say it feels a little lighter and very tight with no twist or movement. Very well made and his customer service is top notch.
  3. Oh man, temptations are kicking in.....Imagine the SGT on a straight shaft like the TDI SL Special edition with the small 6" micro tireur. I am very sure that would give the Gold Monster a run for its money. Hmmm wonder what the Godfather of detecting Steve Herschbach thinks of that ?
  4. I contacted Detector Pro through email just to see if the Gold Series headphones made it off the bench. They replied back that the individual testing them never got back to them about the results and stated they have reached out several times to get the results and the headphones returned.
  5. I had the same problem. I heard that Anderson was using a double hole in the upper shaft for the double spring clip in the lower rod in some of the first ones produced. Now it has a single hole with a chinsey plastic bolt that you seat down to the lower rod to lock it in place. No side to side movement. It's only when the coil is flat on the ground with twist left to right if and when you rotate your arm. Hopefully Anderson steps up and takes care of the issue.
  6. It's twisty. I think they are a terrible shaft for the money. Pluggers shafts are solid all the way around. A lot easier on the wallet too!
  7. Hey Chase and Fred. Im located in La Mesa. Just been swingin' the Nox at the beach since its to hot out in the desert. Come fall you'll find me in the Dale! I've spoken to a couple old home owners around town and they just won't bite when I ask them if I could detect around their property and all finds will go to them. Doesn't hurt to ask. -Mike
  8. Tell the person slapping the speakers in the Equinox to quit using so much epoxy. I have a few speaker holes clogged with it. I might be losing a very small amount of sound that goes with that faint deep target signal when I'm not using headphones...It's all good though, I understand that you have a demand to meet. P.S. I know your looking at your speaker grid on the back of the Equinox....
  9. Got mine ordered up last night. Call or email Doc if you want one. Email: docsdetecting@gmail.com Phone: 1-800-477-3211-477-3211 EXT. 14 --3211 EXT. 14 1-800-477-3211 EXT. 14
  10. Oh mama this website is rippin' fast! Where's your tip jar Steve?

  12. Not that I dont like a good heavy duty pick, I was just tired of carrying a large pick while using the GB2 since I never really have to dig too deep while using the 6.5 inch coil. I came across an ad in a gardening magazine for the HOE•DAG. It caught my eye due to the shape and a lifetime guarantee. The handle could be an inch or two longer but I think I will like it, I can always put a new handle on in the future. I will keep everybody updated when it arrives and get some use out of it. Obviously that will not be until the desert gets a dip in the weather. Also if anybody else has used a HOEDAG let me know what you think. -Mike
  13. My friend purchased this detector. I contacted Minelab and stated in a returned email that Minelab never made a GPC 2300...It looks to be an F3 Compact by the exterior features. Where the paint has worn off it appears to be a green color like the F3 Compact. He hopes the guy sends it so he can disassemble it to see the insides. I told him "its probably a bounty hunter in a Minelab case".
  14. SPMA does have the Potholes claimed up. There is a Yuma SPMA chapter. Go to there website www.spma-gold.org for more info. Sam Radding is a regular out there and does pretty well with his GB 2. Don't forget to check your drywasher tailings, Sam has a tendency to mop up quite a bit just beeping pile to pile. I've witnessed it....
  15. Hi Steve, Which headphones are you currently using with the Gold Racer? Would you recommend this detector for Southern california deserts? As of right now I'm using a GB2 with Sun Ray Pro Gold headphones. Thank You, Mike Gibson
