  1. Thanks for the comments everybody. There were a lot of high fives that day!

Hardprospector knows where this place is...he's probably driven by it a 100 times!?

Simon: I ran in the automatic 1 sensitivity level most of the time. I tried to run manual 10 but it is quite a bear to ground balance. Dropped it down to 7-8 and it ground balances out pretty good. Oh and did I tell you this machine has an obsession with hot rocks? I am really digging how easy it is to use. Now if Minelab would just release a transmitter that will plug into the monster and work with the Nox wireless headphones...I read one of your articles awhile back about how you used a transmitter and headphones on a Monster..did they work for you? -Mike

be sure to check when you have the shaft all together, lay the coil flat on the floor and put your hand on the handle and twisted left and right. My Anderson shaft does not lift the coil off the ground. The whole upper shaft twists. Just to be clear, the twist is about one half inch in either direction.

I had the same problem. I heard that Anderson was using a double hole in the upper shaft for the double spring clip in the lower rod in some of the first ones produced. Now it has a single hole with a chinsey plastic bolt that you seat down to the lower rod to lock it in place. No side to side movement. It's only when the coil is flat on the ground with twist left to right if and when you rotate your arm. Hopefully Anderson steps up and takes care of the issue.

  3. Hey Chase and Fred. Im located in La Mesa. Just been swingin' the Nox at the beach since its to hot out in the desert. Come fall you'll find me in the Dale! I've spoken to a couple old home owners around town and they just won't bite when I ask them if I could detect around their property and all finds will go to them. Doesn't hurt to ask. -Mike

  4. Tell the person slapping the speakers in the Equinox to quit using so much epoxy. I have a few speaker holes clogged with it. I might be losing a very small amount of sound that goes with that faint deep target signal when I'm not using headphones...It's all good though, I understand that you have a demand to meet.

P.S. I know your looking at your speaker grid on the back of the Equinox....

  5. Not that I dont like a good heavy duty pick, I was just tired of carrying a large pick while using the GB2 since I never really have to dig too deep while using the 6.5 inch coil. I came across an ad in a gardening magazine for the HOE•DAG. It caught my eye due to the shape and a lifetime guarantee. The handle could be an inch or two longer but I think I will like it, I can always put a new handle on in the future. I will keep everybody updated when it arrives and get some use out of it. Obviously that will not be until the desert gets a dip in the weather. Also if anybody else has used a HOEDAG let me know what you think. -Mike

  6. My friend purchased this detector. I contacted Minelab and stated in a returned email that Minelab never made a GPC 2300...It looks to be an F3 Compact by the exterior features. Where the paint has worn off it appears to be a green color like the F3 Compact. He hopes the guy sends it so he can disassemble it to see the insides. I told him "its probably a bounty hunter in a Minelab case".

  7. SPMA does have the Potholes claimed up. There is a Yuma SPMA chapter. Go to there website www.spma-gold.org for more info. Sam Radding is a regular out there and does pretty well with his GB 2. Don't forget to check your drywasher tailings, Sam has a tendency to mop up quite a bit just beeping pile to pile. I've witnessed it....
