  1. Mitchel, that nugget’s big brother is waiting for you!
  2. The 7000 is an amazing machine especially in difficult soil conditions. BTW: My wife has named your find the Lobster Nugget.
  3. Gold and mineral dealers like Tony Fraser in Bendigo, Brian Lees in Colorado, Wayne Leicht of Kristalle in California and others who attend the Tucson Gem and Mineral Show on a regular basis know the market well. If I found a big nugget I would ask them but would also consider an auction. In the US, Heritage Auction would be a good starting point.
  4. As a good friend of mine says, ”Some days the nuggets just don’t want to come out and play”.
  5. What a great hunt and a solid validation of the Equinox 15" coil. Great silver dimes, but I really enjoyed seeing the Henry rimfire shells.
  6. Have a great trip Mitchel, Bring home a big nugget!
  7. Looks like a fun and very historic area to explore Mitchel. I am always excited when I run across a bronze plaque installed by E Clampus Vitus.
  8. Klunker, This pic is for you ...... It is not all sunshine, lollipops and rainbows out here. My December trip to Quartzsite was not as productive. I am glad I had my bottle jack with me. The Plomosa Mountain gulches ate one of my tires. I am an old New Englander but do not miss the New Hampshire winters. Come on out here and join us!
  9. Jinmon, the pizza is great and there is often live entertainment.
  10. I always enjoy a trip to Quartzsite with beautiful weather and a warm sun. I love the solitude of exploring the lesser visited areas with the flowers beginning to bloom, lizards scurrying around and even a few bighorn sheep on the hills. Sometimes I even get lucky. On my recent trip with my Gold Monster I found two small nuggets, a 1.6 gram and a .05 gram. At the end of the day I drove into town and celebrated with a pizza at Silly Al's.
  11. Chet, you have made an amazing effort. That is an impressive haul of finds. My hat is off to you. Franconia has become a stingy mistress only rarely giving up a few nice specimens like Lunk recently found. The south side I have read tends to have fewer larger meteorites. I will give it a two day try after Christmas on the north side. I have had minor success twice but on my last two trips I have been skunked. I get renewed energy from Lunk. As for technique, along with my GPZ I now use my metreorite stick (a hiking pole with a magnet taped to it) as my companion machine. Happy Holidays and Happy Hunting!
  12. Lunk, these are fabulous finds in an area that has been hit pretty hard especially near the road. My hats off to you. Well done!
  13. Not my area, but I found this info that looks like your coin from the Ching dynasty. The squiggly “BOO” loopy symbol on the back is the Ching dynasty symbol. here is a link to a Chinese money ID guide: http://www.calgarycoin.com/reference/china/chinaid.htm#square hole Emperor HSUAN TSUNG AD 1821-1850 Reign title: TAO-KUANG, AD 1821-1850 1850
  14. This one’s for you Mitchel: On the first day of Christmas my true Zed gave to me .... .... a specie near a pine tree. 2nd Day: Two bottle caps 3rd Day: Three hair pins 4th Day: Four screaming nails 5th Day: Five Golden Rings 6th Day: Six cans a-rusting 7th Day: Seven screws a-singing 8th Day: Eight foils a-fooling 9th Day: Nine bullets beeping 10th Day: Ten tacks a-tweeting 11th Day: Eleven lead bits laughing 12th Day: Twelve coins a-smiling Merry Christmas to all and to all a good hunt.
  15. Great haul Lunk! Congrats. Slow and low gridding. Thanks for the reminder. You have a lot of momentum headed into the Quartzsite season.

  17. Mitchel, thank you for sharing your adventure and pictures. I have not had much luck in GB but I like the area. At night the stars can be amazing.
