If you got a Platnum asteroid to earth you would upset the supply-demand ratio. You would have to carefully release the metal into the market or "crater" the price. Just the public knowledge of a huge supply over-hang in the market could drive prices down.

Thanks Jen, JP's videos are fantastic.

Hi Giddiup,
You probably saw this 2010 posting but: http://www.jlaforums.com/viewtopic.php?t=45726063
This is an E-Z Pickens Dry-Vac Back-Pack gold concentrator
Model GP 22A
Gasoline-powered; dependable 22.5 cc engine (1.5 H.P.)
Lightweight aluminum construction-- weighs under 40 lbs.so is portable (easily carried by one person).
Simple to set up and operate, and includes original owner's manual. Now you can work those hard-to-reach dry remote areas with a combination vacuum and dry recovery system. Not as dusty to operate as a regular dry washer; vacuums gold out of cracks and crevices in bedrock that is missed by other methods. Used very little; Costs $1250 new; I will sell it for $700-----------------------------
A second reference is for a used unit:

Nice collection of nuggets, and I wish that button could talk. It looks like it has an interesting history.

I love being out looking for gold. Sometimes I enjoy the solitude, but ......... the places I have been and the people I have met make gold detecting a true joy.

I had the same problem logging on.

I can not wait for Nenad Lonic's follow-up article where he says he will compare the GPZ 14" and the 19".

Hi Paul and Condor, just catching up. This is devastating. So sorry to hear about the theft and Paul, the insurance issues can be salt in the wound. I am not sure where you are now, but I live in La Quinta, CA, I am two hours from Quartzsite, AZ and two and a half hours from Yuma. If you want to borrow my GPZ please let me know, and I can meet you half way.

"In the absence of the gold standard, there is no way to protect savings from confiscation through inflation. There is no safe store of value. If there were, the government would have to make its holding illegal, as was done in the case of gold. . . . The financial policy of the welfare state requires that there be no way for the owners of wealth to protect themselves. This is the shabby secret of the welfare statists' tirades against gold. Deficit spending is simply a scheme for the confiscation of wealth."

GPZ 19 And General / Difficult - Will It Miss The Bird Shot?
in Minelab Metal Detectors
Posted
Using my 19" around Quartzsite last weekend I was amazed at how much bird shot and small junk I was digging. The soil is drying out and targets are getting easier to detect with less ground noise. The birdshot was mostly surface or near surface trash with a clear double signal. Easy to retrieve but a huge waste of time. With settings like General/Difficult the birdshot was loud and clear. I did not try harsher settings for fear of missing gold.
