Need Help Identifying Rock/mineral
Gold Seeker replied to matt0550's topic in Rocks, Minerals, Gems & Geology
I'm guessing mudstone/shale, but the "yellow" are plant fossils. The plant fell onto a prior layer of mud and then another layer of mud was deposited over the plant, then over 1000's and 1000's of years the mud turned into stone. -
It's possible the nugget came from the pirate loot...or just as possible it came from someone who lost it after finding it in surrounding states which many of have gold nuggets from either natural gold deposits or gold brought down by glaciers from Canada. That being said, they should be able to test the gold and compare it to gold from Africa and or Canada, supposedly gold can be traced to it's original source by it's contents, much like the lead cross was tested from "the Curse of Oak Island" to determine where the source of the lead was from.

First Cache - And It's An Odd One

Mid 1960s Ford Galaxie, I know for sure it was on a 1966 Ford Galaxie with the 352 engine, but not sure if it was on any other year models that had the 352 engine, and for sure not on any that didn't have the 352, i.e. the 289, the 390, or the 427. It's a bit hard to see in these photos of 1966 Ford Galaxies, but the emblem is on the fender behind the front tire. -
I checked the forum this morning, read all the posts since last night and just before walking out the door to go to work I checked the forum again and it had started, all within 20 minutes or less, 30 or so SPAM posts, I unfortunately didn't have time to report any as I was a bit late leaving for work.

Not knowing the size of the flange thing or the material...but it reminds me of the flange of a ball catch, usually used on the top of a door. -

Makes you wonder if Lady Joan Brooks, caught Mr. Thomas Brooks with the chamber maid or some floozy and tossed the ring in a fit of rage!! -
Any where the old people go to retire there has to be an army of the younger generation to run everyday businesses to support the retired communities, someone also has to build the homes these older people are buying, retire people don't work, so the younger people have to do that, there are more younger people in Florida than older people! There's also a lot, and I mean a lot of agriculture and cattle farms in Florida, the older people don't run those businesses either.

Campground Produces A First For Me
Gold Seeker replied to F350Platinum's topic in Metal Detecting For Coins & Relics
Well done! One reason some seem to find more Mercury dimes than "silver" Roosevelt dimes is Mercury dimes were minted more than 10 years longer (29 years) than the "silver" Roosevelt dimes (18 years), so there's probably at least 1/3 more Mercury dimes put in circulation. -
Looks like you had a great Father's Day trip!! How do ya'll know who's gold is who's after mixing it all together?
