  1. only scanned the replies, didnt read them in depth. i personally use full tones -6.4 discrim. whether my theories are accurate or not? who knows! i like to think it gives the machine better performance because it is not trying to figure out if it should be iron or not (probably not true, but let me believe it) also, it gives you all the information you can get out of the machine. which to me, is important. i want to make the decisions of whether or not i dig a target, not let the machine decide for me. i want as many clues as i can get, and having the entire range of audio gives me that. now that being said, i hunt some sites that have iron under every sq inch of the dirt. sometimes i actually use relic with IAR and notch out everything (within a few #'s) that i am looking for. so my answer to your question is yes. its worth it, but obviously depends on where and when you want to use it.
  2. high square full tones. even if pwm is better, i just cant listen to a duck all day. audio filter 2 offset FT +15 to get a good chirp on them silvers.
  3. now that you mention it, yes it does float coil up. im using the 9" coil. havent been diving since i made that post so i havent tried anything yet. my idea was to fill up the actual shaft (by taking off the remote mount) with small pebbles.
  4. i run dive program with low reactivity. i also keep it in 14khz but assume bumping it to 24khz would work too
  5. deus2 using the 6 pin connector. and also straight to a 3.5mm jack which ive tested with other devices. volume seems to peak out at the same for all devices. which is loud but not loud enough under water.
  6. I bought these to wire with another machine. Has anyone spliced these? It has an extra black wire which I assume is just from a general audio wire they used which is probably microphone, so it would have no use. (unless im wrong) Anyways, when I wire these into a 3.5mm jack they are really not loud at all. Any advice for getting them really loud? Thanks
  7. im not 100% sure if that is what is making it float up. was hoping someone else had the same experience and had resolved it.
  8. when you are digging with one hand and pinpointing with the other. and your shaft wants to detect your head, it gets pretty annoying. i am connected via headphone wire so i am not too concerned about losing control
  9. this thing is floating up over my head while im diving. assume its the air pocket within the handle. anyone have this issue and dealt with it? there are many ways to add weight to it i suppose to keep it from floating. im thinking of adding some weight to the hollow handle and sealing it off.
  10. looks $ if it helps protect from rocks, keep sand out, and glide through the water. any info on where to get one?
  11. what specifically? i did notice they brought the scale down a little on higher conductors which is a good thing. before the update, quarters and halves were about the same. now halves are 2 or 3 numbers higher.
  12. has anyone noticed that the TID's for high conductive coins seems to have gone down at least how i run in 24khz max. zinc was 86-87, dimes 92-93, quarters were 95-96 and halves were 96-97 now it seems like zinc is 82ish, dime 90ish, quarter 93, half 96 this is good news if this is indeed the case. but these are just limited air tests. havent had time in the field yet.
  13. ive found my 13" coil is much more susceptible to EMI. i cant run it in the dirt above 85 sens. i can run my 9" coil to 94 or 95 sens in the same situations. luckily even with 85 sens it still goes as deep / deeper than the 9" and has way more coverage.
  14. same thing, round for me. i noticed that the lower rod they send with the 13" coil says CF which i think means its carbon fiber infused. it is stronger than the lower rod that came with the 9" coil. are you using the stock rod? or the nokta carbon? i have yet to have any issues with either of the lower rods (stock and nokta). if yours is loosening with the nokta one maybe you need to add/modify something to give the spacer more/even pressure
  15. i max my pitch on my highest break for every program, it really pierces your ears and catches your attention. i think its weird that on full tones a 99 isnt even close to the 993hz
