I bought these to wire with another machine. Has anyone spliced these?
It has an extra black wire which I assume is just from a general audio wire they used which is probably microphone, so it would have no use. (unless im wrong)
Anyways, when I wire these into a 3.5mm jack they are really not loud at all. Any advice for getting them really loud? Thanks

Just drill a small 1/8" hole in the top of the rod near the controller clip to let the air escape..
im not 100% sure if that is what is making it float up. was hoping someone else had the same experience and had resolved it.

I think you've got to be careful what you wish for - I'd be much happier for mine to float to the surface if I lost control of it.
when you are digging with one hand and pinpointing with the other. and your shaft wants to detect your head, it gets pretty annoying. i am connected via headphone wire so i am not too concerned about losing control

this thing is floating up over my head while im diving. assume its the air pocket within the handle.
anyone have this issue and dealt with it?
there are many ways to add weight to it i suppose to keep it from floating. im thinking of adding some weight to the hollow handle and sealing it off.

looks $ if it helps protect from rocks, keep sand out, and glide through the water.
any info on where to get one?

I went back to .71 and will likely stay there. I'm just not a fan of the new TID scale. Spent a year and a half getting familiar with how the D2 TID was normalized between programs and learning where/how everything reads, so having to start all over again just wasn't appealing to me.
what specifically? i did notice they brought the scale down a little on higher conductors which is a good thing. before the update, quarters and halves were about the same. now halves are 2 or 3 numbers higher.

has anyone noticed that the TID's for high conductive coins seems to have gone down
at least how i run in 24khz max. zinc was 86-87, dimes 92-93, quarters were 95-96 and halves were 96-97
now it seems like zinc is 82ish, dime 90ish, quarter 93, half 96
this is good news if this is indeed the case. but these are just limited air tests. havent had time in the field yet.

ive found my 13" coil is much more susceptible to EMI. i cant run it in the dirt above 85 sens. i can run my 9" coil to 94 or 95 sens in the same situations.
luckily even with 85 sens it still goes as deep / deeper than the 9" and has way more coverage.

same thing, round for me. i noticed that the lower rod they send with the 13" coil says CF which i think means its carbon fiber infused. it is stronger than the lower rod that came with the 9" coil.
are you using the stock rod? or the nokta carbon? i have yet to have any issues with either of the lower rods (stock and nokta). if yours is loosening with the nokta one maybe you need to add/modify something to give the spacer more/even pressure

i max my pitch on my highest break for every program, it really pierces your ears and catches your attention.
i think its weird that on full tones a 99 isnt even close to the 993hz

That's interesting, Cheddar, has that caused any problems with the 13" coil, like the bolt loosening or anything like that?
When I installed the CF lower shaft hack on my D2 shaft, I noticed it had just round holes too, but my 9" coil holds firm with no propblems at all, but it does have a firm grip on the bolt head, so I guess that's all it needs.
I wonder if any other 13" coil owners have noticed any problems with their coils bolts?
no issues with performance. looking at all the photos i could find online it looks to be just how they make them.
makes you wonder why they make them differently than the other coils?

finally set up my own nokta CF lower shaft
it was a bit chattery in the field so i ran my pinpointer down just the shaft and sure enough it was hitting on almost the whole shaft. i assume because of the carbon in the shaft it makes it pretty conductive.
i think it was a coincidence as the other shaft was just as chattery, but the stock shaft didnt trigger my pin pointer.

how you like that phoenix shovel? thinking about getting something new. been running a lesche 31" t-handle for as long as ive been detecting

i have been eyeing the mi4 for a while now coming from a garret carrot. isnt the mi6 bigger and the only difference is it connects to your deus audio?
i only use vibrate mode as i think that is far superior to listening to the audio. so i have no idea why someone would want to listen to the annoying hiss of a pin pointer in their headphones!

it really depends on what kind of ground you're working. if its normal beach where you are looking for fresh drops or have no idea whats low. then definitely the 13"
if you know you're on a low beach or in a highly concentrated spot, then the 9" hands down.
if you can only have one coil ever? probably the 11". but 9" and 13" are what i run, depends on what kind of mission i am on

ive been swinging the 13" coil on the beach with no problems, it actually responds and acts very similar to the 9" coil.
i noticed that the coil ears on the 13" do not have the notch pattern that doesnt allow that plastic spacer to spin (its just fully round)... my 9" coil does have the notch pattern so it cant spin.
also noticed the left side of the 13" coil BARELY has the slats to hold the bolt head in place. where as the 9" has a great bolt head holder.
not sure if these are by design or just poor quality control?

you should give beach sensitive a try. adjust the salt sens to get rid of the mineral chatter

I’m guilty of setting filter settings of programs to their zero point with the thought that the filters may hide a target, but I may need to start letting the machine do a little more work now and then😀
that's nonsense. the filters are fine for beginners and people that dont have much field time on the machines. and maybe someone that has limited time so they need to be selective on targets.
but once you've got some hours and know what you are doing, your brain works better than any machine out there. i almost always run filters down at 0 and let me ears do the work

yes the aptx-ll transmitter and aptx-ll headphones/earbuds will work
but you'll be getting a tiny bit of latency from the deus2 itself. and then another 40-50ms latency from the aptx-ll. it will work but not optimal.
in the winter i use the adapter and velcro the puck onto my favorite pair of over-the-ear headphones with the 3.5mm cord connecting them.
in the summer i run the puck in my pocket and just run ear bud wire up under my shirt.
before i got the deus2 i felt how you felt about it and really wanted to do it the way i was doing it with my nox. but after running it this way for almost a year now, theres no going back.

Congrats on the gold cross and thanks for your review of the 13" coil. Between yours and F350's reviews, I've pretty much decided to get one.
One a side note, you mentioned you ran Disc at 8 and Notch at 10 to eliminate coin masking. I know the Disc at 8 would make 06, 07, 08 sound off with the iron tone, but wouldn't the Notch at 10 just blank out 00-10, or is that the purpose?
On 12/7/2022 at 11:26 PM, Carolina said:That is the purpose. It works on dimes and pennies but not with big iron. I only had dimes and pennies masked. The cross was not masked so I don’t know how it acts with gold. Also the big iron overwhelmed the software while using the 13” coil. Not sure about the 11”. Also this was my first spin with the 13” so please don’t hold my feet to the fire. I only posted my findings. I also post to try and help everyone. I guess I do have the option of just keeping things to myself. People here seem to be awfully hostile now that the new Minelab machines are out. Good luck to everybody no matter what your preference is.
looking for more info on this.... you're saying if you just discrim to 8 without notching to 10, that iron under 8 will come in as iron and mask higher TIDS? but if you notch up to 10 it will silence the iron and let the higher TIDS come through?
also ive been hunting a lot with magnetic rejected and starting to realize i may be getting some serious masking myself. hard to find good information on magnetic accept/reject. so any info on that would be appreciated!

i have been working a similar beach loaded with coins and iron. i have found beach sensitive to work the best. reactivity 2 to 2.5
you have to go slow and anything that chirps i go back over and tight wiggle. the signals are not clear at all but they have a certain sound that your brain will start to learn. of course iron can still fool you but not nearly as often as was the case with other detectors

well the good thing is the remote unhooks from the stem. so honestly just sit there on the couch or computer chair and mess with it. watch some videos and move along. no substitute for hands on experience.

deus2 using the 6 pin connector.
and also straight to a 3.5mm jack which ive tested with other devices. volume seems to peak out at the same for all devices. which is loud but not loud enough under water.
