  1. I've been running the axiom for the past year, mainly in places that been creamed. I've hit small gold flakes behind a guy with a 6000, 1 was 0.4 grains. not saying the axiom is better. Maybe the guy on the 6000 was a sloppy detectorsist. I favor the dd coils over the mono coils, my experience is the dd coils are smoother the 11 dd coil can't hit smaller gold than the 11 mono. I like a machine that runs smooth, in my current area I'm hunting the ground is very hot. It fools the 7000, the sdc but as bad. I have to run the axiom at level 3 maybe 2 sensitivity which kind of kills the soft signal targets, however I have a remedy for this that is use....the steel phase audio booster works pretty good. I can run smooth and and have the light whisper targets enhanced. I'm not a fan of the wirles headphones..theirs an issue with the built in receiver in their head phones. I run my own z link wireless. transmitter into the headphone jack the receiver to my steel phase audio booster with my preferred killer bees headphones. I'm hoping for some new 3rd party coils for the axiom
  2. My personal experience with the axiom and coils. With out doubt the axiom blows the 7000 out of the water on small gold, and I've pick a few dinks out of a patch creamed by a 6000, not saying the axiom is better or the 6000 is better on small gold, alot of different scenarios at play for a creamed patch, maybe the coil didn't scan at the right places. One dink was 0.4 grain at 2.5" using the 11" dd. Which I find the 11 dd is far more sensitive than the 11 mono for small gold. I'm hoping for a sensitive coil like the dd but edge sensitive like a mono. Last week I hit a few specimens one was in a hole drop a detector scrape, and the other was next to a detector hole that was 12-13" down. Maybe the prospector who scanned that area was sloppy? Overall I like my axiom and I don't run my sdc2300 anymore on an occasion I'll run my 7000. Like i mentioned earlier I would like a coil for the axiom sensitive like the 11 dd fc coils but edge sensitive like a mono coil.
  3. Interesting! Never heard of them until my last post. Must have skipped that part stating the manufacturer. Knowing detech was working on coils thought x coil was the coil name from detech...lol lol. Did some research and a few emails exchanges, very friendly and fast responses. I will be notified when some axiom coils are available. In the mean time I may purchase a 10" coil for the 7000, would mind the 8" but I don't thinks it's available yet. My stock gpz 14 coil no longer functions so that pigtail will turn into the adapter.
  4. Very interesting. Detech making this coil? Been running the axiom for the past 8 months now and been pretty pleased. My only concern I see with this coil, if the hot spot is in the center like the DD, is that I flip the coil over when retrieving micro targets to get right over the hot spot. Doesn't look like that's obtainable that the the stem is right infront of the end of the shaft. However I do think that's a sexy looking coil. I'll buy one when it's released.
  5. Ive seen you in action wes you are definitely the king in our area.
  6. Here are some pictures of the gold i recovered, my camera is busted so i had to utilize the selfi camera, why the garrett on the coil is backwards.
  7. I had gone into an old past producing mine last week. I had brought my axiom with the 11" mono and my friend had his sdc2300. I had hit a very suttle signal on the wall in a 1" thick blanket seam, my friend scanned it with his sdc2300 and could not pick up a signal. I chiseled out 4" of the wall around the target, the suttle signal turned into a banger. Ended up being a 1 oz pay zone of 3"w 4"L not a crazy amount but no complaints and always thankful. All the gold was thin and laying flat so the detector was only picking up the edges, which makes a huge difference for depth. I took my vlf gold kruzer to clean up all the non pi gold. I replaced my sdc2300 for the axiom im pretty happy with my decision. Incase anyone is wondering is was in "fine" mode, full sensitivity, no head phones, max vaolume, max threshold, tone @ 60, speed on slow. Ground track off, basically default settings except sensitivity, tone and speed. I normally run head phones in which i should have to block out the sound of the coil scraping the walls and background noise but i didnt have my headphones thats why i max out everything as for volume, threshold and sensitivity. I think volume amd threshold are maxed by default. With headphones i run 4-6 on sensitivity depending. I dont notice a difference on small, large, shallow, deep targets from max sensitivity to default except overall volume, youll still hear targets in reach. Good luck out in the gold feilds.
  8. Im aleays in favor of an elliptical shape coil over a round in jist about in any application. In reality for me im more interestedin in the big deep gold, if i hit 1 lunker all day im more satisfied than hitting 10-15 dinks. Gold is gold and it all adds up and it is fun hitting dinks all day too. If garrett came out with a size coil like you mentioned i would add it to my collection for sure. A small nugget could weigh virtually nothing but be flat and a sensattive detector could still signal off it if its laying flat. How ever ive hit very small crystalline gold inside mines with a vlf that no pi could be able to hit. I do think its important for a serious prospector to have multiple detectors, like having firearms for home defense, self defense and huntung. I run a 7000, "Was" sdc now i replaced it with the axiom, and a vlf. I had the whites gmt for a very long time, was actually my 1st gold detector, i actually really liked the gmt. But it got damaged and was forced to get a different vlf, just got a gold kruzer and have long way to go to master that machine.
  9. I appreciate your overview of the stock DD actually being the fc version. The more i read your thread the more i would relate to my experience with small gold/targets out in the gold feilds. I had learned the 1st day out the center was the hot spot, as i chased a very small micro dink for a few minutes the edges the tip and the tail wouldn'thit that small of a piece, i had got fonfused i could hear the signal but couldn't pin point with the edge or either corner, ended up flipping the coil over and ran acrossthe center with my scoop, thats when i realized how sensitive the center was for small targets with the 13" DD incognito fc. Which makes sence seeing the wave and hot spot pattern in the fc video in relation to the small gold recovery experience. I actually weigh that micro dink becausei was impressed a 13" dd could pick that up 0.8 grain.
  10. Failed to mention the battery life for the axiom is fantastic plus the booster pack is great, I could run all day with the sdc and 3/4- 7/8 of the day with the 7000 if you can last all day pretty much all you need just recharge at night. I like you can really tweak the axioms settings to perform what you intend to hunt like the 7000 almost plays a big role.
  11. I've recently been detecting with the new axiom and honestly I really like that machine. I've been running the sdc for the past 6 years I've gone through 2 of them, my current sdc I've had for 3 years now the knuckle is completely worn out, the cams on the collapsible stock are gone, I have half a dozen popsicle sticks and 2 rolls of electrical tape holding it together and the external speaker is completely dead. think the materials used are junk and the headphone jack is nonsense. Now i'm not knocking the sdc its an outstanding machine and I've found some incredible gold with it large and small. The sdc is not the most comfortable machine to swing alot of times I hold it past the hand grip. No I'm not a sugar foot I swing my 7000 all day and don't use the harness or the 3rd shaft. This is strictly my honest intake of the sdc and the axiom. Now the axiom. I've only taken axiom out less than a dozen times since I recently got the machine. I revisited old patches that has been creamed by the 7000 the sdc and a 4500. Signals are rare at these spots now how ever I've hit small gold at depth the sdc or the 7000 didn't hear. I did hit a 12dwt specimen the sdc hold not hear that the axiom hit, I'm not sure I swung that same spot with the 7000, I do know the axiom hits smaller gold stronger than the 7000 I've proven that. The axiom is well ballanced it pendulums against the forearm which makes it comfortable I like that the shaft clicks into position, I do think the axiom is a little noisy but not as bad as the 6000, the settings for the axiom do exactly what they intend to do except the iron ID. To adjust the tone to your hearing ability is great, swing speed is cool but if your in slow and you swing to fast you miss targets that is the most important function of the machine you have to follow. If I'm drinking around I'm in medium until I find that tip off piece then I go into slow mode and go over everything low and slow and it works that's how I got that 12 dwt specimen I had mentioned and a hand full of dinks. I'm not a fan of the z link head phones, I do have the z link wireless I used for the sdc I just link the receiver to the axiom and use killer b's wasp headphones. One thing I like the sdc over the axiom is the ground ballanced, the sdc is pretty much a 1 and done type ground ballance the axiom I have to treat as if it's a vlf every time I see a ground change. I absolutely like the fact I can change coils on the fly with out any special tools and the coils being submersible unlike the coil teck coils for the sdc not sure why a coil company would make coil you can't dunk in water for a water proof machine. I think the axiom has a larger potential over the sdc, I really hope garrett comes up with software updates I read they from non garrett employees they do but I heard they dont from a trusted source. I do think the axiom has some improvements to make but in all reality I just replaced and will continue to replace my sdc for the axiom. When I'm not doing welding jobs I prospect gold is part of my income so I can't pussyfoot around. I run 3 detectors, 1 was the sdc now the axiom to locate shallow patches, 2 the 7000 to bring in after a patch was located and 3 a vlf to cherry pick through trashy areas like mine dumps rock piles things like that. Good luck out in the gold fields
