  1. Square is great for beep beep sounds, but realistically doesn’t provide much useable feedback other than target indication. Still a nice audio to have in your arsenal.
  2. Adjustments in the equalizer can really enhance high square’s audio information. I was a diehard full tone PWM guy, but after messing with the equalizer I’m now a full tone high square guy (for now anyway). However, in pitch I’ll only use PWM as the other tone options in pitch basically annoy my ears to no end.
  3. I’ quickly became a big fan of just listening to the machine with the remote on my belt or pocket in the factory belt/flip case. I considered the arm band but I’m always switching between programs and settings while investigating a target, and it’s more convenient or possible to do so with one hand free. A glance of target ID can be had with any remote placement, but I’ve personally deprioritized target ID in favor of full tones or pitch feedback.
  4. The D2 buttons do seem rather stiff when new and mine have remained stiff for however many years I’ve had it. But that is a good thing in my opinion. The “tactile” feel of most electronic’s buttons will not be found on the d2. But most electronic’s buttons aren’t rated to be used under 60’ of water.
  5. Go terrain is now available.
  6. It was quite a challeng for myself as well coming from Minelab. The challenge remains with understanding what this machine is telling me.
  7. As Gary said in the video, you have to decide if it’s right for you. I commend XP for coming out with it. It’s just a matter of marketing the useful scenarios of the machine at this point. The main investment they probably had was with the Deus 2 control unit which obviously is used on this machine as well. Why wouldn’t they offer up another use for the tech?
  8. I’m looking forward to the upcoming technical video even though I really have no usable are to use this machine. I’m intrigued on many levels.
  9. Can you fill the shaft with sand?
  10. Right, AR doesn’t technically reduce the depth of the detector, but it does reduce the depth the detectorist can hear a target.
  11. Audio response kinda tempers sensitivity and definitely reduces depth as midalake said. Sensitivity itself also reduces depth, so all but these 2 variables being equal in the settings, can we achieve the same result by decreasing sensitivity with an increased audio response? If you try it, please let me know what your conclusions are.
  12. I bought a few lanyards for the remote. I didn’t trust the one that came with it.
  13. These should come with a free tee shirt that says “I dug a 6’ hole and all I got was this lousy pull tab”.
  14. I don’t own the dive shaft, but I’d be more inclined to allow water to displace any air in the shaft rather than add weight (if air is the buoyancy issue).
  15. For me, the bone conductive phones do ok in noisy environments as long as I’m using pitch audio or 2 tones.
  16. I don’t know anything about that stuff either, but I like the idea! My Olight’s charge that way and I’m a fan.
  17. I’m assuming more coils are around the corner. However one of these setups probably aren’t designed for use with the much desired 10x5 coil.
  18. I agree phrunt. I also have no use for it here, but I like the direction they went as far as compatibility with the D2.
  19. Well it seems the beach programs may have an issue with iron separation, so you may want to stick to General around those areas. Otherwise there’s no magic pill for all around detecting. Find some targets in an area try some different programs and settings on them. Note the differences and enjoy the never ending process
  20. Just wanted to remind everyone at least in the US to take bug precautions when detecting. I’m in PA, in my mid 40’s, and woke up to a tick stuck to my ribs about 9 days ago. last week I was having trouble thinking straight, that progressed quickly into a high fever, extremity numbness, and blurry vision. After a few days of antibiotics, I’m feeling mush better but still have some numbness and blurry vision. Lyme disease is no joke and can last a lifetime. And there are numerous other diseases that can come from ticks, chiggers, mosquitoes, bugs…. Take precautions and be vigilant.
