  1. Having used the XLT for many years, this article that you worked so hard to write has given me tons of new information to use on my machine, It continues to astound me just how good it is. Thanks !!!
  2. In the 30 plus years since that experience she has never let me forget it. When I leave to go detect I am asked to bring home a silver without a digging tool mark on it.
  3. I saw compass and it brought a smile, the first machine I had was a compass, the name of it escapes me, that I bought at kellyco for 200 bucks back in 75 or 76 . Anyway it was analog andif the needle barely moved off the center to the right of the gauge it was usually a coin. SO in the front yard one day my wife was using it and it screamed and pegged out I told her it was a can I had gone over a 100 times, she insisted I dig it and I promply ran the knife over a morgan dollar. Live and learn to never doubt the wife
  4. Had to be about 2002 or 3 but on another forum someone posted about a new highway going through two blocks of a town south of fairmont west virginia. I got the coordinates and drove down there. It was odd to say the least, all these houses with there belongings there except clothing, abandoned . It was nice, ust walk from house to house and detect. I cant say I found scads of silver, but it made the trip worth while from SW Pa.
  5. Thanks all, once I get my tech savy sons show me how to transfer pictures to my laptop from my cell phone, I will post them, at 68 I get to frustrated to quick.
  6. For years a place nearby has hosted scads of college students to get away from classes. My wife would take a book and read while I detected after work in the evenings, No idea how many coins I found but it was many. About 6 years ago I had stopped detecting after suffering a heart anurysm but decided I better get back out and start living. o back to the college farm I go, it had been landscaped. But remembering it had been a farms at one time, I started to bring up older coins , A walker a silver kennedy, a few rosies and a few mercs, last week ws the best find from there, a 1918 SLQ, It was about the only target I had, the ground was sloppy and half frozen. Anyway, dig them all
  7. Thanks, it has served me well over the years. Good luck to you
  8. Having used this machine for years, I am curious if anyone here has experience with any settings other then presets, The places I hunt in are older and I would suspect more silvers should come out of the ground. Yes its a older machine and I dont drive much due to age. I just cant justify the expense of getting a new machine. Thanks in Advance !!
  9. Same here in SW Pa, either ground is solid or digging in mud, ice finds !!!
