  1. Hey that's a start. We got another 6 inches last night. The elk are even getting tired of it. They were just in the back yard robbing the bird feeders for an easy snack.
  2. No worries. I did find a prospecting slang list and saw it was the Mercury dimes which I always thought were cool. We sure need the snow to help with our drought situation, but it's making me antsy to get out and detect. It has forced me to get some projects done so I'm ready once the ground thaws.
  3. The 90 pushes it along just right. I removed a lot of extra weight by taking out the port fold down seat, the seating/ casting platform in the bow and the full width folding bench seat in the stern. I'll have to look into what that means.
  4. Thank you rv, You've got a sweet handle as well. The boat is an 18ft 87 Crestliner. I spent last spring and summer redoing her. She came out of Roseburg and the gal forgot to pull the plug so it became a watering trough in her pasture. All new wiring, Craigslist seats, I did the upholstery, fuel hoses/connections, new flooring, 90 Merc 4 stroke / 8hp Yamaha kicker.
  5. I'd be lying if I said I have filled in every holeā€¦there are times I have left them unfilled so I can see where I have been, and then go back and fill them in all at once. There have also been times when I just didn't fill the hole in and I am not proud of it. But, most times I fill them in and always feel better when I do. Kind of like when you're golfing. You fill in most of your divots, but sometimes you don't. Then later you think, really what was the rush. PS love the Buddha quote. All time favorite and so true for so many.
  6. I got my class ring because everyone else was getting one and figured why not. It went missing sometime during my college years. Turns out my mom put it in her jewelry box and gave it back to me some 20 years later saying now maybe you'll take better care of it. Cudos to you for finding and returning her ring. What a feeling she'll feel once he holds it again. Goose bumps
  7. Thanks a bunch. I'm a little worried about buying a boat last year thinking I'd want to be on the water all the time. Guess I'll go the "everything in moderation route.
  8. New member with a long time interest in metal detecting and finally acting on it now that I've retired. I found this forum by googling prospecting boots. Everyone seemed very congenial, helpful and provided excellent points of view. The more I read the more I felt like pulling up a chair to the stove, so here I am.
