Nope. As I noted volume is one setting that may need tweaking. If 8 works better for you use 8.

Hearing is funny stuff. I do not have good hearing. But I do have a finely tuned sense of audio change and what constitutes a target. I have always run audio settings on any detector I use quite low from a volume standpoint. All I need to be able to do is barely hear it, but I sure can pick up instantly on variations in what I am hearing. Or so it seems to me. How can I know what I am not hearing?

Kind of like in Chris post. It is not necessarily that I do not hear the stuff that sounds like noise to him and drives him crazy. I just lower the level of the "noise" to where it is comfortable for me to listen to, and the noise goes in one ear and out the other - until that magical difference that indicates a signal.

Hush now Steve.  You are letting out the secrets of a good VLF operator.

  2. Something I liked about the X-terra 70 was the ability to notch out an individual iron zone.  What I would do was note which zone was giving the most iron responses and then notch it out.  This of course caused the iron in that zone to null the audio.  I used the amount of nulling as an indicator to reduce the sensitivity.  Reducing the sensitivity reduced the nulling and allowed better "see-through" albeit reduced depth which you won't get in heavy iron anyway.

It seems this will work with the MX Sports relic mode as well.

  3. Ever try to use a pistol grip style handle in the water?  Too Much torque on the wrist because the force of the water resistance is felt in the hand, not the forearm.  S grips are much better.

With the center mounted coil and the battery pack located under the armrest where the pivot point point of the swing is located his thing should be a sweet handler in the water.

looking good, but it does raise another question. So far the MX Sport looks to have all the features of the MXT Pro plus extra features. However, one thing I can't find anywhere is if the ferrous/non-ferrous breakpoint in Relic mode is adjustable like on the MXT, or preset at the factory. the Users Manual is ambiguous so it could go either way.

    Hi Steve

I agree for relic hunting that could be an issue.  I'm excited about this one more so than anything that has come out lately. It's my dream water hunter.  I gave up on begging Dave J & Co to make one.  The popularity of the AT Pro proved that there is a market for fresh water VLF'S .

All metal with the iron grunt will be the first thing I'll check for wading.

Got me so excited I had to come out of hiding to post. LOL
