White's Electronics Summer 2016 Catalog
tboykin replied to Steve Herschbach's topic in White's Metal Detectors
Steve - the products you mentioned are being phased out, but we will continue selling them until we run out of what we already have. For those of you who like to have a hard copy for the "office" (aka bathroom) we will send you one free of charge - http://www.whiteselectronics.com/where-to-buy/request-a-catalog#form Check out the handsome devil modeling the MX5 on page 11... -
Welp, looks like it's time for another trip....
-
I handed over the White's Instagram account to our engineering department for a while. Not as fancy as Minelab's, but we try and make up for it with hard work, fresh ideas, and heart. If you have an IG account let us know if there's anything you'd like to see while Jacob is in charge - White's Electronics Instagram

Reports On MX Sport Firmware Update - Post Here
tboykin replied to a topic in White's Metal Detectors
Sorry about this Johnny. We added some extra hands when we had the initial wave of detectors come through. I sent a message to the guys in repair, hopefully they will be more careful about what goes back to our customers. But we will take care of you. -
Rico - message received. The MX Sport has only been out a few months, but the demand for coil options is there. Finally starting to see some potential after we got the bugs worked out. Which one of you guys will go find us a nugget with the MX Sport?

Reports On MX Sport Firmware Update - Post Here
tboykin replied to a topic in White's Metal Detectors
Sorry man, just trying to do what I can to make things right. We've had the current firmware out for a few months. Unless you got a time machine there's not much we can do other than honor our warranty. Lesson learned. FWIW- the detectors with older firmware are not DOA. They work, but the engineers made improvements to the firmware and we are reprogramming any machines that don't have the current firmware for free. I've used both - and prefer the updated firmware. But a lot of folks are waiting to send their machine in until winter. It still works fine for them, your mileage may vary. Some of the forum posts would have you think that the not only does the old firmware make the MX Sport completely unusable but also drinks all your beer, asks to borrow your truck, and spits chew on your floor. -
White's MX Sport - Sweet Home, We Have A Problem
tboykin replied to Steve Herschbach's topic in White's Metal Detectors
Firmware has been solid for a while now. No changes since "the fix." We will always try to offer a wide selection of coils for our detectors. So far for the Sport we have the 10" DD, 6x10 DD, 9.5 Concentric, and have been listening to customer requests on other options they need. Hint hint. The MXT is a solid choice, and you wouldn't go wrong with it if you don't need a waterproof machine. It's also great if you prefer old-school pots and switched instead of slim profile buttons. Another option is we can repair your XLT. Every day I see old Coinmasters, Eagles, and other classics down in repair. The guys will take care of your machine top to bottom. Sometimes it's hard to say goodbye to an old friend, but you don't always have to! -

The best way to know if you have the latest firmware is the SAT. You should have 8 levels. Thank you guys for your patience. We're listening to your feedback, and we'll always make things right with our customers. Sorry for the hiccup on the MX Sport, if you have any issues please call us at the factory for help. That's the quickest way to get assistance as our army of web people is me, and I am (unlike the legendary Steve Herschbach) a mere mortal. But I'm trying! -
How about - Large Bullet, Small Bullet, Square Nail, Chewed Up Can, Rattlesnake, Private Claim Marker, Bullet fired directly into the ground about 12" deep (AARGH), Pyrite, Hot Rock. Maybe the FREE SPACE could be black sand...

We have a lot of people participating on our FB, IG, and Twitter page. Of course we always have the low-hanging fruit contests (Like, Comment, Etc) for the keyboard warriors. I won't post those on most forums because they come across as spammy to me. Sometimes you gotta work for it. This contest is one of those. I thought it'd be good to share since I don't see too many brands doing things like this, but I do appreciate your thoughts on it. Maybe it's too complicated. I have had to explain to a few people how to post on Facebook and put ink in their printer, but then there are other folks who get a BINGO within an hour of getting their card. Anyways- thanks for weighing in Rick, the more input the better.
-
Just so ya know, we're listening to what you guys are asking for. We just want to make sure things are 100% Kosher before we release products.... Lesson learned.
-
Hope this ok to post here, it's brand agnostic - Metal Detecting Bingo. Please submit your cards to our Facebook page - Click this link to print one (and only one) card to get started-http://bit.ly/1XkNiLs Each week you have seven days to get a BINGO on your card. Post "BINGO!" on our page with a picture of your card, your finds, and where you went detecting to find them. We will stamp each winner's pic with the letter for that week. At the end of 6 rounds if you've collected all the letters to spell the mystery word, you go into the prize pool. You needed a new pinpointer or digger anyways, so why not win one while having a great time? The game works on the honor system - your finds must be collected while metal detecting during the seven day period for each letter. Cheaters will be cursed with seven years of nothing but pull tabs and can slaw! For 6-13 to 6-19 the letter is "W," and we'll make it easy on ya: BINGO this week is ONE LINE - vertical, horizontal, or diagonal. Next week's letter and BINGO cards will be posted on 6-20. GL and HH!

If you guys would like a gold video on the MX Sport I can shoot it. It does fairly well on small gold close to the surface (kind of like the GMT). It's not as burly as the GPZ, but it also costs less than 10% of it. I'm waiting for the water to warm up before I take it up to the gold panning areas for some water hunting. But at the very least it'll be a nice way to cool off and give the pan a break. The 6x10 would be a better choice for prospecting. There may be other coils in the works, and I may or may not have gone to the coast last week to help test them.

Who Is Trash Talking Minelab? Why? Cause We Can!

Easy trout, depending on the time of year it has salmon and steelhead. With a Thomas Bouyant or spinner it can be a fish per cast in the right spots. If you like smallies Foster lake is 10 minutes away and has a great population (and nobody fishes for them). I don't want to de-rail your thread so if you want to PM me feel free. P.S. - They make the root beer on-site at this A&W.
-
Heck, I'll buy you lunch at the best A&W on the west coast when you visit. They still have drive-in service and "phonebooth" ordering inside. Other options in S.H. are ALL-STAR Pizza or The Point (too ritzy for my redneck blood though). About 12 miles down the road in Lebanon you'll find more options including some micro-breweries (Conversion is my favorite). If you're really keen on the outdoors I can show you how to catch your own lunch on the Santiam River that runs by the factory...

There are some good areas in eastern Oregon, also down in Josephine county by Grants Pass. Both areas can be HOT in the summer. Recreational mining area in Quartzville Corridor (then maybe a side trip to see White's Electronics in Sweet Home...?)
-
I see it the other way 'round, really thankful to be working somewhere like White's. Thanks for the kind words and for watching the vidya.
-
Thanks! I used to work on movies doing sound, gave it all up to work at White's (I REALLY like the company) - http://www.imdb.com/name/nm3181581/

You guys have a lot of good ideas. Mike - I grew up in Clovis, Alamogordo, and Las Cruces. Need to get down that way again sometime!
-
I could have stuck around longer, but I'm a ramblin man. I'm glad you guys found more gold out there. I'll definitely be back there to get my own gold and maybe test a machine out.

I was in his neighborhood, he let ME go free.
-
Hello internet friends. Since you guys have been so helpful (and not torn me a new one too much) I wanted to share my video here first, before I post it for the 'hole wurl to see. It was my first time REALLY prospecting hardcore with a detector. But like most things in my life I knew it was going to be about the experience, any finds would just be gravy. It really opened my eyes and is the first of many adventures going after the yella stuff. Hopefully some of those I can meet more of the members of the forum in real life.
-
Yeah, the GMT hits that demo pretty squarely. I've seen a bunch of Africans using them over there because of the points you made. Maybe some of them can afford an $8k detector but I know I wouldn't spend that much on one. It's different when you do it for a living though...

What's in the ultimate gold detector? I got to see a little bit of everything on my trip from the heaviest, most complicated to the light and simple. I'm a novice, maybe because of that I like simple. Knobs instead of menus. Light. Powerful. Long battery life. For fancy stuff like GPS I can use my phone. Iron ID would be nice. What's your idea of the best gold detector?
