  1. There is detectable gold up the Calapooia, Quartzville Creek, and then lots down in the Grants Pass area. But there is a lot of private/claimed land and the residents of Jefferson can be strong enforcers of claim boundaries. Best bet is to do research and scouting before detecting as online info can be inaccurate sometimes, at least in my experience.
  2. I think I smell a TV show starring Gerry. Coming soon on the DIRT NETWORK...
  3. I have a couple of these printed packs. They will fit in the case with some modification. So will the super hot 16v battery pack I have. Officially White's can't endorse a 16v battery due to the increased chances of component wear and heat generated by the large caps on the board. The 18650's diameter prevents use in this waterproof case without a slight modification (2 minutes of Dremel action) on the inside of the case. This may void your warranty. The 14500's have the right size to use in a battery holder but usually come out about 750mAh. You could do 4 x 2, get 14.8 volts out of it but only have 1500 mAh. Less time to hunt than the OEM pack. All of these things are options for intrepid DIYers, but our goals were 1) release this in a timely manner before the competition 2) keep the price of the detector reasonable and 3) don't push the hardware to the point of failure. I know it's not ideal, but at the worst you can carry an extra battery in a waterproof case or baggie with your wallet/keys/phone. And at least you will still have a nice deep seeking PI before fall of 2018. This project is more of a "Huh, that's a good idea. Why wasn't this done before?" vs. making a huge engineering project out of it.
  4. That is a good note. This was a one-man-band setup, no script - camera on tripod was my only friend. But I should probably do a better job of listening back to make sure I get everything right. Next time!
  5. Most machines that have a single ground balance point will balance to a combination of what's under the coil. White sand usually lacks the type of minerals detectors look at for ground balancing, so I would guess that you will be balancing out mostly the black sand. Here we have some difficult beach areas with black sand, basalt rocks, and then of course the conductive salt. Definitely pulse territory!
  6. Gosh, it looks like we do have a waterproof TDI after all! Ships with a Heavy Duty battery for longer run time and also has increased sensitivity and stability due to the hardwired coil. A bonus we did not expect! Want a mono coil? Coiltek? Miner John? Etc? We are working on setting that up in "White's Custom Shop." Or if you are handy you can DIY (note: this will void your warranty). Sorry for not having more info earlier. We like to tell our dealers first and wait until products are ready to ship. Now excuse me while I jump in the Klamath River and find some nice nugs in the bedrock. https://www.whiteselectronics.com/product/tdi-beachhunter/ White's TDI BeachHunter Specifications Operating mode. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .Pulse Induction Pulse Frequency . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .2.6kHz - 3kHz Pulse Delay. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .10μs - 25μs Search modes . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 8. Here on the west coast the difference between a TDI SL and Surf PI is about 4-6 inches on a gold ring.
  9. There are some interesting things that happen when you hard-wire a coil directly to a board. Kinda like running headers to straight pipes on a small block....
  10. Is this the guy you contacted? Atomic 79 Ltd. Brodie Anderson 2 Burleigh Road Blenheim 7201 Marlborough, New Zealand Telephone: 0274102280 E-Mail: atomic79ltd@gmail.com
  11. Hey guys, we are hoping to have a white paper write up on XGB soon. We don't want to give too much away, but basically it allows the machine to track more than one ground balance point at a time.
  12. I didn't mean any offense, and I would like to think we've learned our lesson as a company. As to that picture...
  13. I don't see a waterproof TDI on our website. Can you post the link?
  14. Aw shucks! It looks like we had a glitch on our website. A waterproof TDI is a great idea! But unfortunately we're not at liberty to discuss current projects, etc, etc... I've heard that one of the other manufacturers was working on a waterproof pulse induction machine, maybe you guys have White's Electronics confused with them?
  15. The company has not released anything to the greater public as far as announcements. So far all info has been "dealer only." Whether or not dealers have shared that info is not something the company can control.
  16. It seems acceptable to me. I did run a quick test using GT Metrix and it looks like you could do the following: 1. Minify JS/CSS to improve load times 2. Thumbnail images instead of scaling them with code These could be handled by your programmer or any number of free tools available online (https://www.minifier.org/, https://code.tutsplus.com/articles/how-to-dynamically-create-thumbnails--net-1818)
  17. This is a hand-made TDI coil by the gentleman in the picture. He sells them in Brazil only.
  18. White's protocol is to first give dealers information on any new product, followed by a general public press release. So it's wise to take any information passed around by said dealers with a grain of salt. Like the rest of the users on this forum, I know that Nokta/Makro and Minelab are the only companies that release new products.

  20. Hey Chuck. We have very aggressive goals for 2018 and beyond, so I will let our actions speak for themselves. There are enough empty promises online to fill an election ballet. The best thing we can do as a company is put our money where our coil is and work to bring new products to market. There is a reason I haven't been on the forums much lately and that is due to traveling and being busy. Best job I've ever had and I am thankful for every second. Hope you are well and keep your eyes peeled this summer for news from White's. One great way to do that is sign up for our newsletter - https://www.whiteselectronics.com/newsletter-signup/
  21. Latest expedition - pocket gold hunting in Oregon. Rough gold found with White's Metal Detectors. Can't be more specific than that. Total weight for the day around 1/2 oz.
  22. You guys have good requests. I just want to be able to see through iron (especially chunks of tin roof). Ghost towns would be 10x better with a feature like that!
