  1. And the answer is- No !!. It maybe soon though for medical usage There might be an underlying theory here about the moons influence. Have you been to a spot and dug more gold from a flogged area ?. Gone back to a spot and the ground is quieter weeks later ? Have you looked at the dates when you found lots of gold and cross referenced it to what the moon was doing at that time ? Check out your skunked trip dates. There maybe a pattern. Cheers Ozgold
  2. I have a detecting trip coming up in a couple of weeks here in OZ and will be detecting around the new moon phase . I was wondering if anyone has noticed any influence with the moon full or empty when they have been detecting? I Personally like the full moon due to how much brighter and easier it is to navigate around when night I'm detecting. I have noticed that the ground is a little bit nosier as apposed to no moon, but still not 100% sure. We all know the moon influences the tides and animal behavior. Does it affect EMI ?, ground noise ? hot rocks etc. Cheers Ozgold
  3. Hi Rob Thanks for the feed back and I'm sure there is a bigger nugget lurking on that patch you, you've just got to swing over it and have your mind in the right place.😃 When you say you run in high yield/normal does that mean you could also run in normal with the 14 at that spot?. Here in OZ the ground is very mineralized and noisy and the go to setting is difficult😩. I know that normal punches much deeper if workable so hopefully the nugget finder coil 17x13 will allow that. Cheers Ozgold
  4. Hi Rob That is very interesting about the skunk and well done on the finds.👍 I know that all places are different and require different settings on detecting machines. Could you please tell me what did you notice different with setting and how much hotter could you run the machine on the places you have been on before?. What extra depth do you think it has?. Do you use speakers or head phones. Thanks in advance😃 Cheers Ozgold
  5. I just got my hands on one here in OZ and will be test running it in the field in May for 3 weeks. Will give my feed back in June when i get back.😉 Cheers Ozgold
  6. The creek I was in was dry all the way to the clay layer and even that was hard and dry. The main thing I remembered from these digs from others was standing back from the the deep elongated oval shape hole and remembering where i started the dig and that the target signal came to the surface on an angle and not straight up. I've dug sum good nuggets up in my time but these two were weird and wanted to share Cheers Ozgold
  7. Hi fellow dirt diggers I have been digging gold over here in OZ with a GPZ 7000 & 14 inch standard coil in creeks and have had a couple of signals from targets move from where i first started hearing at the surface Here is how it happened- I found a weak signal in the middle of some creek wash and started digging. i dug straight down approximately 100mm and checked the hole with detector, The noise was notably louder & I was on target with the signal in the middle of the hole. I dug another 100mm down, re checked the hole with the detector and noticed the signal had moved from the center of the hole by approximately 100mm, so i dug down another 100mm towards the signal and checked with the detector. the signal was heaps louder and i was defiantly getting closer. The signal had moved another 100mm approximately further from the initial hole starting point. I finished up digging to the clay layer down 550-600mm down and about 350mm off center from the initial signal to uncover a 3 ounce specie. I wasn't going to worry about posting the weird dig and thought it was just me not centralizing the target initially until it happened again in another creek about 1 km away. This wasn't so bad it had only moved about 100mm off center and 400mm down to uncover a 10 grammer. The ground was pretty much just creek wash and then the layer of clay on the bottom. Was wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience or is it just me 🤥 Cheers Ozgold
  8. Still here in OZ chasing the yellow with a lot of guidance and information from my American friends. thanks Steve !!
  9. Hi Steve He had a great coat. Would have been great in the snowy conditions keeping him and yourself warm. A mate of mine had a golden retriever and she was the most obedient and loyal dog I have ever Known. Over here in Oz in public places we have to keep our dogs on a lead and under control at all times. My mate never had his dog on a lead and the rangers would time and time again would stop him to question him about his dog not on a lead and go to issue him a fine. He would demonstrate complete control and obedience with her and would get off scott free every time. I recon she could understand English. She was a very intelligent and loving to everyone Just a couple of questions Steve Did you first like the breed of dog because of the word gold in its name ? Did he retrieve much gold ? Cheers Ozgold
  10. I thoroughly agree with you!! The nightmares would comprise of - # Will it make it back to me ? # Did I get MY machine back,? # When they fixed the problem did it alter the machines performance ? & the worry goes on and on !!!! I will probably be going out this weekend weather permitting. I will Be more observant and also check how repeatable it is and if there is a pattern. I know from experience that a problem that occurs randomly and cant be replicated easily is very hard to fix Cheers ozgold
  11. Hi Andyy Thanks for the feed back I wonder if Minelab know about the issue ?? My machine also has a lag when pushing the screen buttons, I didn't really think it was the machine more so I thought it was just not reading my pressing the screen through the screen cover I have on the machine. I will have to use it without the cover & see if it still lags Do you use a cover on your screen ? Cheers ozgold
  12. Hi Phoenix I have been having same problems with my zed. When I switch gold modes from normal to difficult or difficult to normal the threshold would go silent. I had the problem a few times a while after the first update and now have installed the second update hoping it would fix the glitch but its still been happening. Its bearable at the moment ( happening at least once or twice a day)( I change modes on almost every target) but am worried it will get worse or contribute to a bigger problem later on. Can you please tell me your result from what you found with your experience in this matter? please. Cheers ozgold Hi Andyy Could you please also chime in and give me your results on this topic Is it still happening on your machine ? Did you get it fixed? Cheers ozgold
  13. I agree with you on that one tucannon. I Went to a shoe shop looking for new boots and found the redback a real winner. The left boot in one box fitted great but the right boot was too tight so I got the shop assistant to get the other boots out of the other boxes they had in stock and I got one that fitted real snug. So don't just accept that all boots in all boxes are the same! cause they a not . Apparently we all have one foot slightly bigger than the other Hi RDD What you just said sums it up exactly. What do you put on your boots to make them last longer and waterproof them ? I buy a pair of boots every Christmas wrap them up, put them under the tree and give them to myself. Perfect fit every time and just what I wanted. Cheers ozgold
  14. Wow !! That was a good story with great description. I hadn't read it before and was reading it out loud to a mate of mine, we both were getting very excited about what was about to unfold, keeping us on the edge of our seats, unfortunately it was only trash feel sad for you Look on the bright side you now know nothing less than 18 inches is out of your range As you said you changed from normal to difficult, did that make much difference to the target response ? Bet your heart missed a few beats when digging. You had great arsenal of pin pointers to choose from. Cheers ozgold
  15. Nice peace Whitebutler thanks for the showing. Hope there's more to come for you. Just looking at the gloves in your photos is that from wear and tare or have you modified them to suit your detecting style ? Cheers ozgold
  16. Thanks for posting Steve very informative, showing lots of down to earth information commonly overlooked in the heat of the moment. kevin mentioned towards the end of the presentation they were out of time to cover all points and was going to finish the presentation later that day. Is there any chance that second seminar is available for viewing ? Cheers ozgold
  17. I've found a lot of lead nuggets, but haven't taken any photos of them ! sorry I'm pretty sure they were all man made Cheers ozgold
  18. I go away 95% of the time with my father for weeks at a time approx 5 times a year. He took me out enitially and I got gold fever from the first trip we went on. When we get to the camp site and have set up we both go our own seperate ways each day because of interference between the zeds. We call up each other at certain times on the 2 way radios during each day to make sure everything is ok. We go nugget hunting during sum nights together and only take 1 detector. We tune the 2 WM12s into the one machine so we can both listen for targets together & decifer signals. It's great when you've got your own personal digger? Its a really different feeling detecting with family ( layed back, take your time, talk about settings on detector, show your gold & where you got it ) When detecting the 5% of the time with my mates I feel there in competition against me to get to the gold before me. They don't talk much about settings, what they got, what creek they went up. But they are more than happy to listen to me and bleed me of all my information. So yes I prefer to nugget hunt on my own, or with my dad not far away in the next valley. Cheers ozgold
  19. HI Fred A while ago I use my zed on the beach here in Oz and the only setting I could use was Severe and sensitivity on 5 or less. In all the other settings it was just buzzing off its head and couldn't stabilise it in the salty dry sand. I tried it in wet sand near the water, had sensitivity on 1 and got a few targets down deep. I couldn't recover them because the tide was coming in, the swell rising and I only had a square mouth brickies shovel ( not the right tool for the job ) I dug sum 2ft+ holes for coins & ring pulls further up the beach away from the water cant help wondering what depth I would be digging in normal, general,19inch coil and max sensitivity Just got my new 19inch yesterday, so this winter when beach is quiet I might give it a go I also use severe to pinpoint when I've just about dug a target out of a hole, it give me better accuracy and direction Cheers ozgold
  20. I think ML are on a winner with the new Gold Monster 1000 coming out by upgrading their lower end scale detector. Surely they have done their homework and looked at demand in the market place and supplied a machine for it. I'm sure it will be cost friendly to family's budgets. A new machine, newer technology in the market is very enticing to want one. Just imagine the excitement on sum young kids face when they dig up their first nugget with the new Gold Monster 1000.That is the success ML is thinking about I recon (then of course the kid wants a bigger & better detector) more $$$$$$ to ML Everyone measures success differently ! My measure of success is getting out there swinging and leaving all the cares in the world behind. I dig everything. I don't discriminate. I love wasting time digging all targets. Its the thrill of the chase that gets me in. Gold is a bonus Cheers ozgold
  21. Hi Rick I've been watching on the news here in Oz about the Oroville dam spillway problem (hope they get it fixed in time). It might be worth a trip to California after it all settles down again because there having a big gully washer over there at the moment ! Cheers ozgold
  22. That's a great idea preserving a rose. just wondering if they could dip a whole plant in a pot! cause my misses hasn't got a green thumb and every thing seems to die (except for the plastic ones lol ) I've already got my better half a valentines present. I dropped off a 10gram nugget to the jewellers and got a loop brazed on it to go on a necklace Cheers ozgold
  23. I Have used my ML pin pointer 100% of the time on the gold fields with great success. They do save a lot of time and guess work digging and locating targets in confined spaces. Here in oz we are going through extremely high summer temperatures with high humidity which makes for unpleasant prospecting at the moment. Recently I have found a new use for my pin pointer around the house. My wife wanted a picture mounted on the wall, so got the trusty pin pointer out and found the stud in the wall to fastern the mounting point to (we have a steel framed house). It got me thinking more on what I could use the pin pointer for. I was out in the chook house hunting rats with my air rifle and foxy terrier / jack Russel dog the other night and managed to get a couple. I got the pin pointer out located and surgically removed the lead slugs from the rats so I could feed them to my pet diamond python. Might be a thought for KIWIJW in NZ when hunting ducks and other birds in locating lead shot before consumption. I have read on another forum that pin pointers are also good for taking to the shop when buying non metal boots for detecting. I have found that detecting of any type gives me relief from the fever when I cant get out swinging ! Cheers ozgold
  24. Hi Chris Maybe that was Break Back Mountain what you were hiking up ! cheers ozgold
  25. Theft of any kind is a low act especially if it to do with a hobby or passion. I recently lost a new 40Hp outboard from my boat. I know how you must be feeling -sadness, loss, anger distrust, loss of appetite and now the cost of replacement. I wonder if ML could introduce a PIN code to the Zed to deter the thieves from targeting them. after all there is other devices out there with PIN codes that cost way less than the Zed. Cheers ozgold
