  1. I was all geared up yesterday. Manticore and headphones fully charged, equipment loaded in car, and new software loaded up to test! I knew the sky looked ominous, but tried to beat it. If you did not hear, I-95 collapsed due to a fuel tanker fire. By the time I got to my park, the sky opened up and we had a tornado warning in effect. I tried to wait it out but headed home to detect another day.
  2. I have an old MacBook Pro with USB 2.0 ports and so I downloaded all the updates on that machine. I got no response from the update software from Minelab. I ran a utility to "watch" communications on the USB 2.0 port and both the earphones and Manticore were correctly identified by the port, but the Minelab utility program did not send communications to the device to check for software versions. I then downloaded everything again on my new MacBook Pro with USB 3.1 using an Apple USB adapter. This did the trick, both updates were loaded on first try. Some cable companies do not wire their adapters completely, or correctly. The Apple adapters are expensive but you get a quality product that works. I picked mine up at Best Buy. https://www.bestbuy.com/site/apple-usb-c-to-usb-adapter-white/6622138.p?skuId=6622138
  3. Are live thresholds the same as the Manticore’s true thresholds for the prospecting audio theme? (This topic can get complicated with machine differences and company terminology.)
  4. First off I have watched several youtube explanations of threshold. I think as a noob, I am missing something. I just don’t really see the usefulness of more tones to listen to and process. Am I right in understanding a break in threshold is the same as an iron grunt? Can someone who uses threshold explain the benefit?
  5. Howdy from a fellow PA digger. That is great to have access to the camps and mines. I have been itching to get out of the city, where I still live and work.
  6. Wow, must of really wanted to get rid of it taking a $300 loss.
  7. Have you ever returned a school ring or wedding band? Perhaps the good mojo will boomerang back and someone will find and return your bag. 🪃🤷🏻‍♂️
  8. Maybe not the Dead, but I think George would dig (pun intended) some solo acoustic Jerry.
  9. I have been reading all the discussion about an upcoming MCore update; but as a new Minelab user, I am more interested in long term support. How have Nox updates been? Does anyone know how long the MCore will remain in active software development with Minelab before being put on the back burner for new machine development? Nokta Macro has been quick with updates, but Minelab seems to move so slow. What is everyone’s opinion of how the Manticore will be supported after the upcoming software release?
  10. Welcome Andrea! How are the laws in your area? Are you allowed to hunt locations known to be Roman sites, for example?
  11. Thanks to all who replied to my post. I did not get a single response, not even a hello from “Friendly detecting” forum.
  12. Can you send me some of the park names and towns? I tried calling a few in Montgomery County and was told absolutely NO detecting by park rangers.
  13. Just got a Minelab, I always wanted a detector and finally pulled the trigger with this tax return. I am looking for a buddy and club in the Philadelphia Metro area. It is hard to find a place to detect in the city, it is pretty much against the law in all of Philadelphia.
