Rick N. MI replied to Rick N. MI's topic in Garrett Metal Detectors
Thanks Steve, I'm not going to get one just see if it works for relic hunting. -
6 Days At The Beach, Not All That Great

It looks like you had an incredible time there. That beach looks miles long. It has to be intimidating looking at as you detect. Great photos as always. -
Will The Garrett 24k Work As A Relic Hunter?

I do use the Equinox 800. The Gold Kruzer has the best separation in iron. I use both of them and my other detectors. -

If I get one and decide I'm keeping it. I might alter it making it lighter. -
Will The Garrett 24k Work As A Relic Hunter?

I have fresh water lakes, so would be find for that. -
I use the Gold Kruzer relic and jewelry hunting and it can be a noisy detector. I am thinking the 24k could replace it and the Gold Kruzer could take a break. The 24k is quite an incredible detector. It runs quiet.. The Gold Kruzer can drive me crazy sometimes. I want to know if the 24k would work as a relic hunter. I know it is nugget detector and is extremely sensitive to very tiny targets. With the Gold Kruzer I set it to disc out nails and dig targets above foil when relic hunting to eliminate those tiny targets. I assume the 24k can do this too. Am I right? I like using a nugget detector for relic and gold jewelry hunting plus my other detectors. The Gold Kruzer has incredible separation and I assume the 24k does too. I also use: Equinox 800, Legend, Xp Orx, Gold Kruzer, Vaquaro and Tejon.

I have the Equinox 800 and you can get 6x10 & 6" coil for it. It really is an incredible detector. It has 2 prospecting modes. Also the Garret Goldmaster 24k. Another really great detector. -
Wow great gold, persistence paid off.

I deal with Backwoods too.

Gold Kruzer is a great gold and relic hunter also. With the 5x9.5dd coil it goes 8" max on a test dime. Gold ring 11" max. The Gold Kruzer has incredible separation in iron. -

AT Gold is a great detector. Easy to set up and use. It goes plenty deep. In my mild ground with the 5x8 coil it could hit my 9" test dime. Disc had to be turned negative. I always like the AT detectors and I would choose an AT Gold. I have a detector buddy that got a new AT Max. He put in Custom mode and didn't change anything except ground balance and sensitivity. He loves it. For him it's the best detector he every used. He couldn't get the hang of my Equinox 800 setting and using it. -
I haven't done the 1.09 update yet. If you did the 1.08 update you have the program on your desktop. I make a folder on my desktop and will name it 1.09. Extract 1.09 download into the folder and then run the program. It should be there ready to put into the Legend. I have Windows 11. If you have an anti virus program running, turn it off for the update. I only have Windows Defender and it doesn't affect the update. I'll do mine today and see if works.

Search gold testing kit. Some of them have silver and platinum too.
-
It's not gold. And on the side that looks broken open doesn't look like silver. I don't think it's silver now. I think it's a rock. Someone will be able to identify it. It's still good to have the test kit around so if you find a ring and you want to test it.
-
It's cheap enough on ebay and amazon. Price is about $20. It has different acids for testing gold karat, silver and platinum. You rub the rock or whatever it is, on a small tile provided and put a drop of acid on the streak. When the streak stays, it's what the acid says it is. When the streak disappears it isn't what you tested it for.

If you have a test kit, test for silver.

Can You Still Buy Tesoro In 2022?
Rick N. MI replied to Minton's topic in Compass, D-Tex, Tesoro, Etc.
Yes, I just bought a Tejon 😀. -
Grind or file a spot off and see what it looks like.
-
Your right! My mistake.

To reset the Legend, go to volume and then press and hold pinpoint until it's it's done.

Was 65F in northern Michigan yesterday. It hasn't been a warm year here.

Great story. I enjoyed it.

That was an incredible video. Thank you for sharing that. I wonder why the ant wanted the gold nugget. I guess it liked the gold color or maybe it tasted good.
