For the money the Legend is hard to beat. In my ground. I like the Legend over the Equinox 800. The Deus 2 is very good. More is coming for the Legend in the next update making it even better. You need to decide if want to spend more for the Deus 2. For me, I don't find enough valuable stuff to justify having the Deus 2. My vote is, get the Legend :).
-
That's impressive for the Excalibur. I know the the Equinox 800 w/11" coil and Xp Orx w/9" hf coil will hit hard on a 3.77 gram 14k gold ring at 14" easily in a mild sandy beach at a lake. I haven't tried deeper. Unfortunately I don't get a lot of gold jewelry in the northern MI lakes like you do on the ocean.

Yes, I would like to see an Orx 2. I expect one will be coming.

Equinox 800 And Legend Volume
Rick N. MI replied to Rick N. MI's topic in Metal Detector Advice & Comparisons
Yes, I adjusted the volume on the detector and headphones. Shallow target hit loud enough. I should have said I want deep targets louder. I would like the Legend to have an adjustment to set how loud deep targets are. -
I have some hearing loss. With the Equinox 800 I can turn down the volume 1 or 2. With the Legend I have volume max on the detector and headphones. I could use a little more on the Legend. I think more volume is coming with the update. I'll have to try the vibration too.

What Does Everybody Use For Tick Protection?
Rick N. MI replied to Rick N. MI's topic in Metal Detector Advice & Comparisons
I just saw Sawyer Permethrin lasts 6 weeks or 6 washings. That's great. I got the hiking shoes and leg gaiter coming and will be using Sawyer Permethrin now. I'll be all set against the ticks and other things. -
Legend & Equinox 800
Rick N. MI replied to Rick N. MI's topic in Metal Detector Advice & Comparisons
The controls are easy to learn. Select a mode, a disc pattern, sensitivity and you can start detecting. The other main settings are Number of tones you want and Recovery speed. I use 2 tone, set tone break and "A" disc pattern. Do the auto noise cancel and ground balance and your off detecting. The other settings you can learn as you go. More will be added in the next update. Pitch tone, Iron bias, a third smf setting and something else new is coming in the update. I don't know what it is. I'm looking forward to it. -

I decided to use permethrin. I ordered hiking boots and Lymeez Stretch Mesh leg gaiters with permethrin. -

What Does Everybody Use For Tick Protection?

I got the Sawyer permethrin and now I don't want to use it. I ordered Repel Tick Defense which has Picaridin. -
I have both of them and so far I find them very close to equal. Right now I give the edge to the Legend because of how smooth it is running and most likely better waterproofing. I like how the controller comes off for the way I use it. I'm looking forward to the next update and see how it does. It is a great, powerful detector for the price.

Little Water Hunting With The AT
Rick N. MI replied to kac's topic in Metal Detecting For Coins & Relics
I didn't know you can get a 3d printer at a low price. Did you use the Cad software that comes with the printer? -

Little Water Hunting With The AT

It does work and the sand will sift fine. I've used one with stainless steel with 1/8" holes for 2 years. I have one now with 1/16" holes to try and see how it works. -

Nice hunt with AT. Double sided tape won't work. I tried. You can use plastic zip ties. On mine use stainless steel wire woven and stainless steel wire to attach it. That's a great job on you 3d print. You have something you could market. -
Any Help To Identify If This Is A Meteorite?
Rick N. MI replied to MockingBirdx0's topic in Metal Detecting For Meteorites
There are different tests you can do. You can find the tests on the internet. It does look unusual. There are universities you can send photos to and they can help identify it, if it's a meteorite or not. -
Legend Version 1.07 Update
Rick N. MI replied to Jeff McClendon's topic in Nokta / Makro Legend Forum
Dilek has a video that said there isn't a release date yet. It could be a little while. She did say there is something new coming in the update. We don't what it is. -
I Like The Legend. This Is My Light Legend.
Rick N. MI replied to Rick N. MI's topic in Metal Detector Advice & Comparisons
I would say it could catch on stuff if you hunt in the woods. -
The Legend is working really well. I'm looking forward to the the next update. In my mild ground I am running sensitivity max. I'm using field mode and Gold mode. I'm surprised how smooth gold mode runs. I'm going to have to sell or trade my Equinox 800. I try and make my detectors as light as I can. With the Legend I'm using an Anderson carbon fiber shaft with the the controller in a fanny pack with a hole in the bottom for the cable. I like it. It is much lighter.
