  1. Thank you, Doc Bach. I appreciate the comment and it was my pleasure to serve this great country. I would most definitely do it all over again.
  2. Locator, thank you for the link to the great article about the battery pack for the V3i. This was a very interesting read and I really appreciate it.
  3. I for one still use my V3i as my main detector. I also have an AT-Pro, but I only use it as a backup right now. One thing I can actually say I like about this forum. Whenever you ask a question, someone is willing to provide you with an answer. Not like when I used to belong to the White's forums. You see, the V3i users seem to be a fickle bunch of users. Now don't get me wrong. Whenever I would ask a question about my V3i on the White's forums, I would always receive an answer, but it was something to the effect of, "You just need to put the time in and learn the detector like I did. There are no shortcuts." When all I might be asking was for a little assistance in pointing me in the right direction. And, if you ever asked for assistance in possibly creating a program or adjusting certain settings, you were immediately shunned like you had the plague or something. Just my two cents worth.

If you are looking for something simple, I would definitely eliminate the Manticore right off. From what I have seen about this machine, you will need to spend a tremendous amount of time just learning how to set it up. The Manticore is definitely not what I would call a beginner detector. I am not really familiar with the other two detectors you listed. But from the sound of things, the learning curve may be just as high as the Manticore. In my opinion, I would be looking more for a detector you can turn on and go. One with the ability to choose where you are hunting so you can push a few buttons before you are ready to begin detecting.
  5. Hell Perch from Central Illinois, USA, and welcome to the community.
  6. Hello everyone, I am a 56-year-old disabled veteran from Central Illinois. I have been detecting off and on for approximately the past eight years. I currently swing a Garrett AT-Pro with a couple of different NEL coils and also a White's Spectra V3i detector with several different NEL coils as well. The rechargeable battery for my Spectra V3i is currently burned out, so I am swinging the AT-Pro for now. Only because I really do not want to use the Spectra V3i with the double-D battery pack. I would much rather run the rechargeable battery pack. More to come later. Rodney
