  1. so running multi-freq @ around 16 sensitivity gives a decent signal on iron-core clad? Can you say a bit more on this, ie what settings you use and what they sound like. I use my EQ800 @ single freq and do ok on these...
  2. NOTE to MINELAB: my MacBook pro only has usb 'C' ports. used an Aukey USB-A to C adapter but update fails (no connection).....sigh.....M105 update does work using the same adapter. pretty lame Minelab....if anyone knows of another adapter that works in this situation let me know.... will need to find an (antique) PC with USB-A port.....
  3. 'rusted foreign coins', Canadian or Mexican?
  4. it boggles the mind how Minelab releases the Mcore, then 900/700 and even Xterra Pro and yet 2 relatively simple tech coils are yet to be released.... These would be very popular, increasing Mcore usage and I would imagine them to be high profit margin items. I just don't get it Minelab. Myself, I want the small coil for jewellery hunting/light weight and will buy one as soon as it becomes available. Come on Minelab get off your proverbial asses...and make this happen.
  5. yes, I've been booted from parks because of MD'ers with shovels messing things up...I use a Hori Hori gardening tool. works well. Shovels and Parks/schools don't mix...and it could be our undoing....
  6. Merrill would probably have done better using ChatGPT....
  7. my Pixel 6 connects and saves MT105 device but the headphones won't play music from the phone....lame...
  8. 5 years from now ML will come out with an FE-CO screen, 3-D display 'OrgasmaCore' and it'll be deja vu all over again...
  9. Red light, Green light…. yes, like on the Korean game show on Netflix but reversed, lol. decided to take my IhaveaCore out for show and tell (ground is frozen/muddy here) so I charged up the M-core and M105’s (green light!) to give it a go anyway. On arrival turned them on and the M105’s wouldn’t power on! tried to reset them (10sec power button press) to no avail…sigh…so back home it was to get the supplied cable…that worked… Later, at home they came back to life….turns out it’s related to charging…red light (charging) good, green light (charged) bad! ie lockup…so as long as they ‘don’t think’ they’re fully charged, good to go…but see the green light on the charger (charged), pull the cable and deadsville... oh well, hopefully I’ll be the only one to see this. I’ll apply for my RMA # when ML staff returns to work…. On another issue, the ‘noise cancel long-press trick’ I watched a couple videos of folks attempting to achieve ‘one number’ nirvana doing this and having issues with ‘outliers’ rearing their ugly heads, thereby ending up picking a number they liked, sort of. So I had an idea. Now I’m an old guy and pretty ‘shaky’ (both demeanour and physicality) so I came up with the idea of an additional piece of detecting kit to solve the stability issue, a tripod! Now don’t laugh y’all. folks drag along shovels and scoops so why not a tripod. since it’s been said (by one who knows) that the M-core must be held ‘perfectly still’ when noise cancelling, the tripod then comes into play. set it up (as high as possible) carefully balance the beast on it and commence with the long press noise cancel 'trick'! Voilà….you’re all set. haha…oh, and if those evil outliers still persist then the forthcoming FW update could fix it once and for all by simply masking out those pesky outliers in software and homing in on the single number, fixed! it’s mostly phycological anyway so give em what they want, eh…cheers and a happy new year to all…
  10. I'd really like to see the ability to reduce/adjust the target trace display decay time. I believe it's always 5 seconds. maybe it would show adjacent targets and their locations a bit better if you could drop it down to 2 or 3 seconds. I believe TomD mentioned version '59'. the production SW version is 5.12.0+50
  11. I recall Tom saying his version was '59' at one point. I believe the shipped version is '50'. I don't believe he has easy access to the proper sites for 'bed of nail' testing, maybe other 'testers' are running newer versions of the software also... I have a site with a lot of small gauge rusty wire bits everywhere that I'll try out in March/April when we thaw out here....
  12. mention of ‘C’ & assembler brings back the memories, from Fortran test code (and HW design) for ECL based B-52 flight simulator to berkley Unix system startup for my 1st ‘C’/assembler job doing diagnostics then to Fortune Systems for Unix-based FW/diags/device drivers, then Mips for chip test assembler simulations then Unix based FW/diags/device drivers (I was the only non-genius there) then to Apple for the same!…after quitting that I should have applied to one of the MD firms! I would have been a good candidate..except that I didn’t handle/use a metal detector till I moved to Canada years later….good times.. Looking forward to buying your book when it comes out…cheers
  13. that ring rang up pretty high, low 60's compared to the gold ring compilation posted earlier here. wonder what the weight is and if 14K is actually stamped on it (should be).
  14. I agree with you but in my case I'll just stick with my 800 with Tele-Knox 3 piece rod (dark blue same as my lightening blue Ford) and the Coiltek 10x5. No water hunting for me so no problem there. That combo worked really well for me this year so I'll continue with it. But I'm going with the M-core also, well simply because I can....really don't need it and I'm not overly optimistic I missed much in the older sites I can get to but it will be fun to try. I generally drive to sites with a backpack and motorcycle so both of them having the ability to collapse is win/win...cheers all
  15. makes me wonder if someone will drill themselves a new set of holes further up...looks a little sketchy to me as is.... CD must not have noticed this yet, lol
  16. very good report (and success). can you give us your settings.....ie sensitivity level etc...
  17. but TomD stated the Wantacore was a 2 generational leap! lol. I seemed to have missed that you actually had input into the Manticore. and yes 'Retirement' is and has been grand for myself also.
  18. he could have parked all the deposits at a crypto bank, say Celsius Network or FTX, lol
  19. maybe Tom_in_Ca got one early, lol...
  20. "Emergency SOS via satellite can help you connect with emergency services under exceptional circumstances when no other means of reaching emergency services are available. If you call or text emergency services and can't connect because you're outside the range of cellular and Wi-Fi coverage, your iPhone tries to connect you via satellite to the help that you need." just for a serious (like an accident) situation....
  21. Cal, iPhone 14 with the satellite text feature might be a good thing to have on that sort of trip if you're out of cell phone service...
  22. I'm in glorious (but cold) Canada. Was just told by my dealer that he is expecting a Manticore shipment on the 21st (2 weeks from now). woo hoo! I'll do the ~ 45 minute drive over there and pick it up in person...cheers
  23. just looked at my 800's 11" coil. The ears on that are pretty small and thin. These new ones are really substantial and probably less brittle plastic also....hopefully the 700 and 900 mark the end of pod flooding and broken coil ears....
