  1. maybe we could all chip in and help poor Minelab ship them via air freight, lol the 'last minute' firmware changes might have botched things up is my guess but glad they happened. For Canada I'm guessing I get mine (will drive to my dealer locally) on March 1st cause we're Canada and we get everything late, costing much more or simply not at all, lol
  2. Brandon (Dr Tones), a tester says the apple wireless buds work great and Apple doesn't support Apt-X
  3. the same price in USD ('the peg') would then translate into more aussie $. they don't need to do anything... I believe there is a MAP price for dealers, nothing to say they can't ask for more, just not less (advertised). take a hot new car for example. you think the dealer will take sticker for it if there's a line outside? some pricks will try to price gouge on ebay once folks actually have them in hand, just wait, lol
  4. the official minelab page for the 800 shows "carton contents" and 2 are shown
  5. the what's included photo shows the wm08 getting its own cable. so 2 will suffice for me, 1 home, 1 car
  6. I ordered these, have had them for a few days now and they're great (for music only so far).....only $30 from amazon.... Anker SoundBuds Slim+ Wireless Headphones Lightweight Bluetooth 4.1 Stereo Earbuds with AptX Superior Pure Sound IPX5 Waterproof Sports Headset with Metallic Housing & Built-in Mic
  7. and there will be no cheap, 'lightly used' ones on the market either, lol
  8. thanks for that Steve and congrats! 11" coil indeed, here's another vote for a 6" X 10" coil for Equinox. that's the coil size I use for park hunting bigger gold items than your nuggets, lol
  9. sheesh Cabo, I'll be really happy when the freeken manual is out, etc so you can just put it to rest.... you've been providing a large number of posts here on Steve's forum but I've gleaned nothing from them, lol
  10. pretty nostalgic, while an engineer for MIPS in the late 80's (Silicon Valley) I worked with Plexus as they were chartered with assembling/testing computer systems for us. Heady times.... Only when I left MIPS for Apple did the real fun begin... I plan to get an EQ 800 as soon as they arrive here in Canada and will start learning/testing with it even with the ground frozen. I plan to find some good spots that I'll return to in March/April....My military discount (US Vietnam Vet) is already approved which is nice. cheers, and Steve, can't wait till you can open the literary floodgates!
  11. great information Steve! also looking forward to the 'dissertations'. Hopefully you'll have them pretty much ready to go on EQ release, lol. Have you considered some trips to other locales, say California, for EQ testing in some different/better dirt? Also, are the silver/copper coins you're finding 50's/60's era?
  12. thanks for the response, sounds like a lot of CTX's will be in the 'for sale' column once this gets out... for me, the weight was oppresive (aside from the cost). hopefully the code will be baked by end of year....can't wait....
  13. figured you had one.... could you have 'come out' sooner if you wanted to? question re: FBS dual ferrous/conductive VIDs vs EQ single digit...is there some sort of 'tell' with the EQ that informs one there's a good chance for old silver/copper coins? but maybe you haven't found enough yet to say? the FBS machines were able to let me know when there was a good chance of 'oldie below' with the combo VIDs. was selling the ctx more due to ergos (ie weight loss) than due to a better ability to find oldies on the EQ's part? how accurate is the 'running depth' meter as an aid to a solid VID that 'could' be something 'older'? do you run 'auto' GB most of the time... enough for now you lucky dog!
  14. so tb, which 'merican' made phone do you use, lol I bought the etrac the day it became availble up here in Canada. Literally blew the socks off of anything I had used prior to that. Unbelievable....then same for the CTX and same story, went to all of the 'old' sites I couldn't find anthing more with the etac and bam, lots of oldies I had missed, seriously. Bottom line is I absolutely trust Minelab's ability to inovate. My order is in for this model. Now it may not be able to out-perform the CTX, in fact I doubt it will but it's light, inovative and I know it'll be downright fun to play with. cheers tb and good luck with the new AT Max and all the 'buy merican' folks that snap it up, lol
  15. dang Steve, that post gives me brain freeze, don't know how you can juggle all of those! I have enough with just 2, G2+ and Racer 2 but alas there's no gold here (except an occasional jewelry piece) cheers
  16. nice report, I sold my G2 when the G2+ came out (looooong wait after F19). the iron audio rocks. I'm now using a NEL sharpshooter and like it. great balance. I also added a 6 AA battery pack (9V still works in a pinch), mounted under the armrest. Lasts a veeeery long time with a set of rechargeables.
  17. I received my Z-lynk, have gotten out a couple times as it's beginning to thaw here. I'm very impressed! well made, easy to setup and pair, used it with my G2+ which is pretty darn fast and there is no discernable lag. I used my Sennheiser HD555's and they work great.... audio quality is very good, ie I can't detect any issues. very easy to use now, volume setting is retained....simpley power on the receiver, turn on your detector and away you go. Finally, a wireless setup that simply works. I don't have the 30 minute timeout issue that's been mentioned elsewhere. Next will be seeing how long the batteries last....Kudos to Garrett. I think they're going to sell a ton of these. cheers from Toronto...
  18. interesting that in the video intro the michigan fellow posted, he states he dug a 12" indian head penny. realistic?
  19. thanks Chet, very cool (I actually have an EE from CalPoly)....I really appreciate the time you spent on it.. now wish I could see the same analysis for their new version (and Garretts (they state 17ms delay)). cheers
  20. thanks Steve, looks good....would have liked him to move that nugget quickly across just to see the limit. I'm going to buy one for my spring start with my goal to find enough clad (loonies and toonies) to pay for it! or maybe I'll get a couple gold rings to pay it off quicker.... I prefer this over the Garrett unit even with the cost difference. cheers
  21. the <50ms spec doesn't look good..... on the Minelab site, knowledge base....I see this... "Wi-Stream uses efficient low-power digital audio transmission to achieve no perceivable audio time lag (<10 ms) from the CTX 3030 / GPZ 7000 to the WM 10 / WM 12. With multiple channel capability, this wireless technology provides reliable communication with maximum sound quality." notice the <10ms...... if these use different technology than "wi-stream", ie Deteknix 'like' chinese tech you'd see the poor response time...I'm really hoping this is NOT the case....I had a CTX and was amazed at how good the wireless audio was. Can someone (who can) verify with Minelab that the pro-sonic tech IS Wi-Stream AND delay is <10ms and not <50ms, which btw IS noticeable....and the chinese versions simply suck in use on my G2+ (it's fast) cheers
  22. Lou's Theorm: For every VDI # (or range of #'s) you wish to dig, there will be an infinite number of misshapen (or not) pieces of aluminum to produce it exactly.
  23. the guy should have been aware of (following) the price of silver and sold in 2011 when it peaked at close to $50... I rounded up all my loose silver for melt value and caught it on the way down at $42...
  24. I think the use of 8 AA's makes me more inclined to think it is based on the MXT tech... with a new PC board it is interesting it needs 12V, why not 9V and 6 AA's? and they still tout the same # of hours as the MXT...
