  1. Yes. Avantree uses the LL technology more than most others. I like them but prefer the Minelab with my Nox. I sent a message to Avantree. I asked them if they made any sunglasses with speakers and they do not. I would prefer them over the shoulder/neck speakers as they would be just a bit closer to the ears.
  2. Norvic, This reminds me of the Bose Sunglasses I saw. I wonder if Avantree makes sunglasses. I have some Avantree's I use with my Equinox. I'm glad you like the 6000. I'm certain that any detector that automatically adjust to the ground will find its place in the nugget world. A GB2 needs constant manual adjustment. That becomes automatic to some people. Some people can't master it. I've never used a GB2 but I have a GB Pro. If you take the human out of it and make a computer determine the settings (a little bit of AI) for smoothness to ignore the ground it will do a better job than most of us could ever do. Mitchel
  3. https://www.amazon.com/Avantree-Wearable-Wireless-Bluetooth-Retractable/dp/B07Y56W9XQ/ref=sr_1_2_sspa?dchild=1&keywords=Avantree+bluetooth+neck+speaker&qid=1613613234&sr=8-2-spons&psc=1&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUExSkY1UFpHQkZQWDY2JmVuY3J5cHRlZElkPUEwNDA5MTIzMVdaUkg1REsyMDQ5TiZlbmNyeXB0ZWRBZElkPUEwNjE5NTUyMlVTSlg3RlBNSFpUNSZ3aWRnZXROYW1lPXNwX2F0ZiZhY3Rpb249Y2xpY2tSZWRpcmVjdCZkb05vdExvZ0NsaWNrPXRydWU= AFN, be the bees knees for me if just like the WM12, must be one out there in toyland😉
  4. Tis some help there I have an Avantree receiver/transmitter combo and I `ll try the receiver but wires hanging around turn out to be a hindrance rather than a bonus around foliage, so basically I`m on the hunt or will construct a clip on shoulder rechargeable speaker with a BT module enclosed.. The EMI I speak of is natural from the sun I suspect as we are going through some pretty heavy current sun atmospheric layer ionization and its effect is similar to distant thunderstorms on both detectors and transceivers, I have found as a HAM/detectorist but I don`t wish to complicate a simple to use detector but very capable detector going any further there.
  5. Glad you like the little blue beastie Norvic. 😃 Couple of things about the 6000, one is it is a little more prone to EMI especially if you tilt the coil out of level plane, this is because the timings are a really wide bandwidth. Obviously in the terrain your working titling the coil is the go-to mode so like the 5000 up in your country you just need to learn to live with it. Secondly I am not a fan of the inbuilt speaker so advise serious operators to look into a low latency Bluetooth receiver arrangement and go wireless. Avantree low latency APTX receiver I have tested the Avantree unit and it performs extremely well on the 6000, you can then go from the receiver to a booster like the B&Z or Steelphase then out to a single or dual speaker or just plug in your favourite headphones like the wired Bose Noise Cancelling buds (most Bose BT buds are not APTX BTW). Basically you treat the Receiver unit like the WM12 for the GPZ. The 6000 also takes a little while to settle down after turn-on and performing its noise cancel so be patient as the threshold starts to settle, you will notice the threshold sounds extremely dominant after first turning on and there will be a fair few spurious false signals as you sweep the coil. After a noise cancel the threshold will also sound very dominant then slowly settle down. My usual method is to turn the unit on with the coil 100mm up and held flat and let the detector stabilise then I go and lean it against a tree as I get my gear organised this way it’s slowly settling down/warming up as you prepare. When I’m ready to go detecting I’ll check the threshold with the coil held flat and maybe perform another noise cancel if its a little unstable then walk off as it settles down. Hope this helps JP
  6. Over on the 6000 threads they are showing a few pictures of attractive detectorists. (You don't need to know how to use a detector in order to be a detectorist.) One picture I saw had been significantly photo-shopped. There is a bit of grumbling about the use of models rather than REAL detectorists. Here is a REAL detectorist. I showed her how to hold the detector and the scoop! What a FIND! I had just a junk chain at this point but I hunted my way back to finish my 2 hour hunt and I got a small little hit. Sometimes you just have to go slow. It turned out to be a 10K .78g (.5 pw) earring at about 6 inches. This is my first gold in a couple of years with the Avantree headphones. They are quite a bit different sounding for me. It affects all the targets I hear and it also affects the pinpointing. I don't know if they are 'better or worse' than the Minelab headphones but they are different. As I was leaving the beach I got an odd signal which became more familiar but you just have to dig them once in a while. It got deeper and deeper so I suspected what it was and I confirmed it. A can at 20 inches or so. This was my haul for the 2 hours. There were a couple of steel earrings about 10 feet apart and a rusty chain which I scooped in half with the big scoop. That is a problem with the tank scoop. It will go through most everything. Be careful out there and never photo shop. Mitchel
  7. I was one of the first to get an 800 in the United States. I got on Bill's waiting list several months before the release. Since then I've had to replace the control unit because of a broken switch. Everything has worked well and I've found lots of good targets. Along the way I bought a pair of Avantree headphones and they work fine but I prefer the Minelabs. Today I put them on the USB charger. I've had to fiddle with several different power cords the last few months but eventually I get the red charging lights to come on and that was the same today. When I picked them and the charged 800 up the charging lights were out per normal. When I got to the beach to connect I couldn't get the 'on' tones for the headphones. They were completely dead. I've since fiddled with them and tried multiple cables that had charged them before but I can't get the 3 little red charging lights to come on. I've cleaned the mini leads with alcohol and jiggled everything but no go. Is it dead? haha I'll use the Avantree until I can get another pair of the originals. They don't need to be new.
  8. I use the Bluetooth APTX Low Latency connection 100% of times for my Avantree Low Latency headphones, absolutely perfect.
  9. I use the Bluetooth exclusively. Untethered detecting is a pure joy, I could not go back to being corded. I do not feel the supposed lag time hampers me in any way. I never used the WM08 because I did not have quality headphones to begin with, so I can not truthfully say if I like it. I was good with the supplied BT phones but have since started using Avantree phones.
  10. Tested them out, and for sure they don't stand up. Going to return them. Air tests looked good, but the ground is what matters. Turned them on and off over various targets in the ground, and immediately heard about half the audio literally missing on swings. Performed tests in field 1 and 2. It was worth a shot I guess. I'll keep looking. Going to talk about it with Avantree, why would someone want to watch TV and not hear others jabbering away ? 😀 Or go jogging and not hear the bus?
  11. I have the Avantree clipper pro it’s low latency, I have used it with my Tony Eisenhower headphones to make them wireless, just plug the phones in and carry it in my pocket, works great and the battery life is a few hours, I’ve been considering trying Bone conducting headphones and would buy a cheaper wired version to use with the Clipper Pro
  12. I noticed that the claim of APTX LL compatibility was from a random user answering a question from a prospective buyer, not from Avantree themselves. They probably incorporate some other proprietary low delay (i.e., not Aptx LL) protocol when paired with Avantree transmitters. The Equinox is an Aptx LL transmitter, so if they truly incorporate APTX LL you would have received the plus symbol. Plugging in the Trond transmitter will not help. BT 5.0 is neither here nor there. It has nothing to do with whether the headphones incorporate APTX LL. There are BT 4.0 headphones that incorporate APTX LL. Also, just to make things more confusing, there are different flavors of APTX (e g. APTX-HD) that are not low latency. APTX-LL has a delay of about 30 to 40 ms which few users notice. Vanilla APTX is 60 to 80. Other Non-APTX LL BT codecs can have delays up to 250 ms or more which is very noticeable. The way you can tell if delay is excessive is to put a coin on top of the ground. Now swing over the coin with your Nox (use Park 1 at default settings). If the BT audio delay is excessive, it will appear that you are getting one-way beeps on either side of the coin depending on sweep direction. The effect is more pronounced the faster you swing the coil. This is really annoying if you use the wiggle-off method to pinpoint an actual buried target because it appears you might have two one-way signals under the coil. It also wreaks havoc with your ability to use coil control wiggle to lock onto a faint target that may be adjacent to ferrous junk. Yes you can get away with higher bluetooth delays but it can throw off pinpointing or experienced users who rely heavily on coil control to ferret out iffy targets. Unfortunate, because was really looking for a good set of APTX LL bone conduction phones. The only ones I am aware of were a set by Panasonic but have since gone out of production. They were expensive and also got poor user reviews on sound quality and ergonomics vs. Aftershokx who appear to be the industry leader in bone conduction phones. HTH
  13. Just checked it out. While the headphones do sound the tone before the number is displayed onscreen, they sadly do not give the + signal when connected. I wonder how important LL really is? Would BT 5.0 be enough? I see now from re-reading everything in the specs, questions and reviews that they only claim Aptx LL if paired with a transmitter that matches, otherwise they default to lower spec. And that was from someone who may not have all the info. Avantree does say low latency with LL transmitter. It was the only one anywhere besides the Panasonic and the Aftershokz that mentioned it. I have a pair of TROND headphones that are Aptx, and verified the + symbol shows up with them. I also have their Aptx transmitter, but don't want to plug it into the headphone jack. I'm satisfied enough, but Rrrrrrrrrr... Sorry. Thought I had something here. 😵 I'll make sure I have completely researched in the future before posting.
  14. Avantree does make Bluetooth APTX LL headphones, problem is, I do not see where Avantree explicitly states BT APTX LL in the specs for this particular model. Since you do have them paired up on your Equinox, can you verify that you are getting the bluetooth symbol with the plus ("+") sign on your Equinox display which confirms they are BT APTX LL compatible. I might be interested in these phones should that prove to be the case. Thanks!
  15. Think I just answered your question. Aftershokz makes a pair called Trekz, they are $151. The pair I found are $59. Not waterproof, but they seem to work well. https://www.amazon.com/Avantree-Bluetooth-Conduction-Headphones-Housework/dp/B07Y1J7RZT/ref=mp_s_a_1_11?dchild=1&keywords=avantree+aptx+bone+conduction&qid=1609205776
  16. Hey y'all, The last couple of days I've been out bashing the farm with my new Equinox 600 instead of my ACE 400. First day I went through my yard again, and was surprised I didn't find anything new save for one button where I first started using the ACE. Yesterday and today I searched the farm where I've been scoring a lot of 1700's stuff, but it has sort of dried up as I've gone inland. Found a nice 1917 buffalo nickel, and a 1981 memorial, but mostly beer cans and buckshot. Think I may have found part of a lead token. I also went over to one of the other fields to see if I could locate where a house used to be in the 1800s. Really trashy area! I dug everything and found some brick so I knew that I was in the right place. However, I noticed the detector tends to make local dogs bark, and most around here are untied. A few days ago I thought of what I could do to prevent this problem, but still hear while detecting, particularly now it is hunting season. Might save a life! I remember researching headphones a long time ago, and ran across a certain type of wireless headphone - Bone Conduction. Last week I was able to find a pair that were Aptx Low Latency, perfect for the Equinox, and the only ones out there with this particular protocol that I could find. Others mention BT 5.0 but not Aptx LL. They're not waterproof but they are comfortable and pair easily. Here is a link: https://www.amazon.com/Avantree-Bluetooth-Conduction-Headphones-Housework/dp/B07Y1J7RZT/ref=mp_s_a_1_11?dchild=1&keywords=avantree+aptx+bone+conduction&qid=1609205776 Sorry, Amazon links are long sometimes. They're $59, and they work great. Of course they came after 5 today, so I was running around in the front yard after dark...
  17. Any bluetooth headphones that use the low latency APTX-LL codec should work. Low latency ensures that you hear the target response consistent with the position of the coil over the target. Most non-low-latency Bluetooth phones introduce a signiificant delay such that by the time you hear the target signal your coil has moved inches beyond the actual target position during your swing. Here are a couple phone models on Amazon that are known to work with Equinox and that are considerably cheaper than the ML branded accessory phones. Avantree AS9P Paww Wavesound 3.0 with noise cancelling Aukey Neckband Style Earbuds HTH
  18. Glad they are working well for you KDOCAC . I have been using a pair of them with my Nox for more than two years , with complete satisfaction . While i wouldn't recommend it to anyone else i have worn them in fairly heavy rain without a problem . They have also had some heavy knocks when dropped on rocks and cement , and still going . I wore out the studs that the Miccus cups rotate on to the point where the cups snapped off the headband . Minelab did replace them but by then i had found the Avantree and have not gone back . Good hunting .
  19. Hi Norm, I haven't used the Trond system but assume it's Bluetooth? I have tried 2 x different Bluetooth tx/rx systems (Avantree & TaoTronics) on the GPZ, a while ago now, to see if they could be used as backups to the WM12 in case of failure or failure of me to recharge it 😆 From memory both were usable if required from the headphone jack but they did have noticeably more background interference type noise & the WM12 was preferable for that reason. The Avantree Bluetooth system did work well on the SDC2300 for me though? I'm no wireless tech but had assumed it was either something to do with the channel/s Bluetooth inherently selects on the 2.4ghz band or that the Bluetooth units not being made specifically for metal detectors aren't as well shielded as other purpose made devices. I could be wrong on both counts? I didn't experiment with placement of the tx either. May need to move it around & see if it improves at all?
  20. Norm , I'm certain Avantree still stocks great bluetooth low latency transmitters . I've coupled them in the past with Avantree headphones and buds , work excellent . Cheers goldrat
  21. I got my Avantree headphones yesterday and went out with them today. I can say that I am able to hear signals better with these on this detector than any combination of detectors and headphones that I own. I will be anxious to try them on my CTX and GPZ. I wish there were a way to use them wireless with the other detectors. Norm
  22. Thanks Mitchel Before getting the issues resolved with Minelab I had read thru all of the threads and had settled on the Avantree Audition Pro. I hope they get here in a timely manner. Norm
  23. Norm, I'd get in touch with your dealer first. Back when I first got my 800 some people were talking about a better bluetooth and I bought one set of headphones that I use as a backup now. This is the website: https://avantree.com/all-products Here is a search where people talk about them and alternatives here: https://www.detectorprospector.com/search/?&q=avantree&search_and_or=and&sortby=relevancy
  24. I own and use both regularly. If you set them up in 1, 2 or 50 tones with the same settings they will detect the same in Park, Field and Beach modes. If you try to use 3,4 or 5 tones there is a big difference with the available audio features on the 800. The tone breaks are fixed on the 600 so tone options are 1, 2 5 and 50 tones. Since the tone breaks are movable on the 800 it is easy to set the 800 up with 3 or 4 tones along with 1,2,5 and 50 tones. Volume and pitch are adjustable for every tone break on the 800. Only the iron tone break has adjustable pitch, volume and tone break on the 600. I use my 600 almost everyday for coin, jewelry and relic hunting. I do not agree with the post from the MetalDetecting forum you sited. The more settings for recovery speed and iron bias are nice, but for coin sized objects or bigger, the 600 does just fine. For me, the biggest operational difference between the 600 and the 800 is the 600 has the simultaneous multi frequency setting which uses frequencies in theory between 5 and 40 kHz in the Park, Field and Beach modes. The 600 has single frequency settings in Park and Field modes of 5, 10 and 15 kHz. The 800 has the simultaneous multi frequency setting which uses frequencies in theory between 5 and 40 kHz in the Park, Field, Beach and Gold modes. The 800 has single frequency settings in Park and Field modes of 5, 10, 15, 20 and 40 kHz and 20 and 40 kHz in the Gold modes. The 800 also has the single slot for a custom program. The WM08 module uses Minelabs proprietary Wi-Stream wireless system. You can plug wired headphones or earbuds into the WM08 module and clip the module to your front shirt or coat pocket and you do not have a headphone wire to deal with connected to your Equinox. So the WM08 gives you another way to have wireless operation. Your information is out of date. The newer Equinox 600 should have been updated so that the backlight now has an Off, Low and High setting. The 600 has the built in Wi-Stream transmitter for using the WM08 wireless module and the Bluetooth Low Latency transmitter built in for use with any compatible ATPX low latency wireless headphones and earbuds. I have a set of Avantree LL headphones which work great along with a set of Aukey B80 earbuds. I would study the Minelab Equinox Essential Information area of the Equinox forum for lots more information. Jeff
