Not too long ago one of the local TV channels started showing Aussie Gold show . What I started to notice almost every episode showed flat ground ? So wondering how that works , from my understanding of geology [ limited ] we need generally plate tectonics / movement , heat , pressure , mountains etc. So some guesses on my end , Australia has some of the oldest land masses , so all the high spots have worn-off ? But then the river valleys do not seem to be there / deep ? Is that more of the coriolis effect Hell I can't afford to get back to CA etc. , otherwise I would come down there to play ?

I’m watching Aussie Gold Hunters right now. With the flies being so bad, all the miners look like they have Tourette’s or a severe twitching disorder, with all the arm flapping and hand waving! Question: why don’t they just wear light netting over their hats and faces? Just curious…I certainly would!

Link was no good.

I show myself this picture when i start feeling like i'm never gonna get to go back to OZ.. This gets my blood going again and reminds me of ONE reason why I will go back as soon as possible. This is some gold the "Taskmaster" and I got while I was there in 2018.

And here was me thinking the 22" Concentric X-coil is a massive coil People looking skyward in Central NSW might think they've seen a UFO if they catch a glimpse of the state's newest mining tool. It's an Aerial Electro Magnetic array called the 'X-cite' - and the exciting part is it's finding gold way out west.

I did have the opportunity to do so some years back but backed out. It wasn’t the cost of it all but more of that long flight there. I’d given up hope of ever finding a nugget from Australia until the other day when low and behold one came in the mail. That’s right a beautiful gold nugget came in the mail from Australia and best of all it was found with a 6000. I’m not going to say his name but he’s on here all the time. I just want him to know that nugget is something I’ll keep forever and pass it on maybe one day. The Best! Chuck

Only an Aussie could pull this one off! A true story from the Mount Isa in Queensland. Recently a routine Police patrol car parked outside a local neighbourhood pub. Late in the evening the officer noticed a man leaving the bar so intoxicated that he could barely walk. The man stumbled around the car park for a few minutes, with the officer quietly observing. After what seemed an eternity and trying his keys on five vehicles. The man managed to find his car, which he fell into. He was there for a few minutes as a number of other patrons left the bar and drove off. Finally he started the car, switched the wipers on and off (it was a fine dry night). Then flicked the indicators on, then off, tooted the horn and then switched on the lights. He moved the vehicle forward a few cm, reversed a little and then remained stationary for a few more minutes as some more vehicles left. At last he pulled out of the car park and started to drive slowly down the road. The Police officer, having patiently waited all this time, now started up the patrol car, put on the flashing lights, promptly pulled the man over and carried out a random breathalyser test. To his amazement the breathalyser indicated no evidence of the man's intoxication. The Police officer said "I'll have to ask you to accompany me to the Police station - this breathalyser equipment must be broken." "I doubt it," said the man, "tonight I'm the designated decoy". Do you have a designated drive (not decoy) system in USA.

During the last few days I've been having a looksee in new areas on the island away from the old gold diggings.. The geology here is very similar to the areas surrounding the diggings with many quartz veins running through granite outcrops.. where the creek I'm following meets the ocean many igneous intrusions can be seen running through the granite shield that forms the island (which itself is also a massive intrusion).. No gold yet but plenty of snakes! I'm also making the most of the running creeks (they're dry in the dry season) to sluice and pan so I can work out which areas might have some of the yellow stuff.. Despite the existence of 8 old gold mines, so far the island hasn't produced any gold for me.. I was using an equinox before and have recently upped the ante and am now using a GPX 5000.. I'll keep you posted on how I go.. This picture is of an igneous intrusion where the creek flows into the ocean..

Unfortunately someone decided that they needed the 2 caravans I had left on one of my mining leases more then I did, even worse one of them was Paul’s little van from camp yank. While pondering new accomodation for the next yank invasion I spotted this As soon as I seen ‘Special’ I thought of Paul! She is going to need a bit of remodeling but will make fine yank worthy accomodation I reckon. Plenty of room for you in there too Steve if your brave enough to bunk with Paul.

This is a really great paper describing how you can use the latest technology (AI) and algorithms to locate meteorites. Now just imagine what else you can find if you have the time and knowledge. There are a few here on this forum who will be enlightened by this article but certainly not surprised. It is just a matter of time that we process massive amounts of data quickly. https://arxiv.org/pdf/2009.13852.pdf

This is the title of a book about producing gold in WA. I've just read a review of the book and think the book would be a good read. It appears now because a company is about to begin production. I don't own any Australian gold stocks but maybe I should. https://www.investorideas.com/news/2021/mining/02125Aussie-Gold-Production.asp

These videos and pictures were taken this morning at an unnamed gold digging at the western side of Horseshoe Bay.. the diggings are in the saddle of the two hills in the first picture.. the first video is of the quartz reef in which gold has been found, it runs for over a hundred metres and once you've worked out its direction it's easier to follow.. I've never found it the other times i've been up here, but this morning I followed it down the ridge into a gully where it became really obvious again.. the next video shows where prospectors at the end of the 1880s to the early 1900s sank shallow shafts into the reef, they where usually a few metres deep but it's hard to spot where they are these days.. the last pictures show some of the quartz crystals found along the creek on the way up to the diggings.. didn't find any gold today but I didn't really expect to, and there wasn't enough water in the creeks to sluice for specks..

Here is a bit about some recent history of prospecting and fossicking in Queensland. Good news for JP's business but some gold will be taken out of the ground. There’s been an upsurge in the number of people fossicking for gold, sapphires, emeralds and opals in Queensland’s hotspots for precious metals and gems. More than 18,000 fossickers’ licences have been issued in just the last two financial years. https://statements.qld.gov.au/statements/91243
