  1. Got out early for one more day. Today I really wanted to find gold, I was glad the tide was with me. Beautiful day today, best one since we got here. Today I brought the Equinox to wrap it up. The tide was really low, almost to the end of the pier. There was no water, just a sheen over the sand. I zigzagged the flats hoping to find anything, this place really gets hit a lot because it is one of Georgia's few beaches. Day before I came to this beach the first time a YouTuber got a gold ring. Got a quarter way out and a couple of pennies, but kept on. Each day I can only hunt 4 or 5 hours. In order to find anything here you have to cover a lot of ground. There were 2 other detectorists out there, I watched them to see where they found stuff, looking for the "lines". I got two quarters in the same hole, really crazy tones but enough 30/31 to dig it. Searched the hotel side for a bit, really didn't find much, so I went over to the other side. Long story short, here's the take, not very much. Only got a dollar in change, a brass bushing, and a piece of broken jewelry with a little sparkle in it in the shape of a "1". They could be diamond chips but they will be hard to test. It could be a gold setting, it ID'd about 5-7. One of the other guys detecting said he found next to nothing, I probably did a bit better, but I bid goodbye to this beach for another year. 🙂 Trash was minimal, I don't get much with the Equinox. However, would I bring the Equinox to this beach again? The answer is no. There was so much EMI near the pier and in front of the hotel I couldn't even find a single frequency that worked without lowering sensitivity to 20. Ended up running Beach 1 most of the time, and had to keep noise cancelling. I found I could raise sensitivity a bit when I was far away from the pier. The Deus was so quiet out here it will be the obvious choice around hotels. The Equinox located stuff as deep as the Deus, but the noise was horrendous. I did pretty well here but it's no campground. 😀
  2. Got out for about a 6 hour hunt today, I was going to hit 3 fields of an old farm that I really haven't found much in. Figured I'd give the Deus 2 a chance to do me proud. Today I ran it mostly in General with the sensitivity turned up to 97 and 3 bottle cap. Didn't mess with anything else but saved it and put it next to my new Culpeper relic program. The first field I went to is about 4 acres, I didn't find anything here the first time and didn't find anything but trash this time. I spent about 2 hours going all around. 😵 While I was there the landowner stopped by and told me that he was working on an old county road that the British may have used to invade the town in 1812. I decided to check it out later. The next field is about 2 to 3 acres, hunted it for about an hour before I finally dug a beautiful spun Tombac. I didn't find anything else after that but trash, and a small piece of lead crystal. Next I decided to follow the road the landowner talked about, used my compass and OnX Hunt to guide me. I got about halfway down the road and found it getting impenetrable, I circled around the tough stuff and realized I had got off track. At that point I decided to quit and made my way back. I'm not directionally challenged, but the compass and app helped me get out quickly. I went across the road to the third field, a small one less than 3 acres. I dug a few buttons here, saved the best for last. I switched to Deep HC for a bit, and not too much later got a strong 79, since I was digging junk all day I didn't think much of it. Was I surprised: I had dug a 1781 Mexico mint half of a half real. 👍 that made my day. I hunted around a bit more, here are the finds for the day: A heavy piece of copper spike, a very tiny brass knob, the Tombac, a small thimble tip, and the half/half real. Lots of trash today including a live shotgun shell.
  3. Has anyone ever dug such a thing? In the t&t book there is a variant wieghing 290something"im out of town dont have the book" whatever it is these wiegh that 290gn +a few equaling Mississippi rifle pattern.? They look like a duck, wiegh like a duck but come up 2,3 tenths short is it still possible given it's an old mold and had to be molded personally best I can gather? If anyone has anything it would be greatly appreciated. Btw the 1895 "o" barber I sent pics to charles caldarada I think may have butchered his last name from huntsville al best coin man I know he says if sent in it would most likely get environmental damage vg details.
  4. I started out today with the Gold Kruzer hunting for micro jewelry in a tot lot and on a beach. Just to many super tiny targets. Some of them were about 1/16" round thin targets. I haven't found enough gold to make it worth while to hunt for micro gold. Then I took the Legend to a beach by my house that used to be a boys camp. I remember it when I was a kid. Not many targets on the beach. Haven't been finding much in the water either. I wonder if covid is affecting that. Anyway I did find a 1936 Buffalo nickel. Yea! I was using the Legend in Field mode, Sensitivity 30, Disc at 10, Recovery 3. The nickel was a deep target. I was on the edge of the lake. It got up the 66F today. I'm going to try using my waders in the water and see if it's to cold. The ice sunk not long ago.
  5. I have a pretty sizable lawn to detect on, on slow days. It sits right on top of what was the Upper Fort during the revolutionary war. I’ve pretty much cherry picked all the high tones out of this lawn, so I’m now at mid tones. I got one today at a TID of 57, and singing. At 8” I found this little badge with my Simplex Im not entirely sure what it is, but this lawn is good for producing military relics, like a WW1 military dog tag, WW2 Airmen visor pin and numerous musket balls.
  6. I finally did it, I found a gold coin a few hours ago today while detecting a grassy area with my XP Deus 2 not too far distant from where people traveled by train in years past. I was using the P4 Fast program at the time but had used P1 General earlier in the day. This place has seen use for at least 100 years and has a mix of old iron like square nails, some more modern iron, and lots of modern aluminum junk to wade through. I've been slowly going through this place digging a lot of pulltab and zinc penny range signals in the hopes of scoring some gold jewelry. The coin rang up at a solid "71" ID# and was about 3 inches deep and sounded loud in the square tones audio. Thank goodness I didn't scratch it as I cut a shallow plug! I feel fortunate to have recovered this $2.50 gold piece, as I know some of you have searched for far more years and put in a lot more effort overall than I have and not scored one yet. It "only" took me 28 years of detecting, but it finally happened. Good luck to you all and happy hunting!
  7. Hit the beach again today, sorry @Valens Legacy, I took the Deus 2 again. I had a chat with my mentor last night and wanted to try some tweaks. Got out early, nobody there, blah blah. 😀 It wasn't a great morning, but it wasn't too windy either. This is the other side of the pier toward the two hotels. I hunted that side for a couple of hours, really didn't find much but a few pennies and a couple of bullets. Don't know how they got there, they were all .30 caliber and in the same place. I dug two and quit. One thing I've observed is hotel beach is a bit different than general parking beach. 🤔 I found more snack junk and foil and bottle caps at the hotel beach. Went back on the other side of the pier and did a little better. I wasn't using salt sensitivity right, I thought turning it down made it less sensitive, apparently it's the opposite. 🤪 Cranked it up to 9 and got busy. After the first rusty bottle cap I also cranked bottle cap reject to 5. It seemed like I was hitting better targets, but I also got curious and dug odd signals. The trash is kinda wild: I sight picked almost all of the bottle caps, but those huge beer jug caps are a 91. 😵 The yellow box is a Mario Brothers Coin candy box, it was such a strange tone I had to dig it. Still had the candy wrapped up in it. The two big bullets are under the sinker, and that's a really old copper ship spike. I would have hated to be on the beach when someone fired all that ammo there! Maybe it was from a replenishment place that is a rifle range. 🤔 Got some more ship copper, very common on these beaches, and the usual stuff. Beach take today: $1.63 in clad and Zincolns, most of it seemed like fresh drops. Two earrings, both .925 silver with stones, a worthless American Eagle snap, and a Saint Anthony medal. Saint Anthony is ironically patron saint for the recovery of lost items 🙄 it's aluminum. I was glad to get more silver, one of the earrings is again gold plated: But clearly says 925 on the stud. The other was a shocker, got this unrecognizable loop of crud when I dug it, but it's silver with stones and you can only put it on one way to make them all show. Women have it rough 😀 It's really ratty but clearly says 925 again. Must have been there for a long time. Most interesting thing was the arrival of a somewhat notable YouTuber when I was about done. I guess detectorists are a competitive lot, none of the three I saw today really wanted to talk or have me in their spot. 😁 Despite them I did okay. Hope they found something!
  8. Beautiful but cold day on the island, never got out of the 60s. The sun is so bright it warms you up, but the wind keeps you from getting too warm. It was blowing from the east, about 15mph with gusts to 20. Today I brought the Deus 2 again. I set up my usual beach program, and finally got around to saving it. 😀 I know I'm going to lose it on upgrade, but I will write it down. It isn't a big departure from Beach, just some raised or lowered extremes and bottle cap reject. This morning I went to the big beach, a place a lot of YouTube detecting videos are made. It gets hit the hardest of all. Got there early, almost no one was out. Low tide was 1 hour earlier, I tried to hit the deep spots on the other side of that pier, there's about a half mile of beach to the right, and about 2 miles to the left. I thought I'd see what happened when people came out, the wind was onshore and cold but I didn't think it would deter many. I took this picture after searching the lower tidal area about 2 hours later. Only found a couple of coins, so I went higher to where high tide is, and hunted the reeds and sea grass pushed up on shore (thanks @Joe D.) Did a little better there. At about 10 the beach started filling up, by then I was on the towel and tent line, and digging coins a lot. Nickels were 60 or 61 solid ID, pull tabs 63 or 64, so I got nickels without digging tabs. 😅 This I really like about the Deus 2. At one point I got a strange sounding 42, it was kinda broken up unlike the foil and other junk I was finding. I dug a scoop and a small chain fell out! It was gold. I excitedly looked it over and quickly stuck it in my bag. I can't say I wouldn't have found it with the Equinox, but I wonder 🤔 Here's the booty, much better than yesterday. I had to get back to the campground to grill some tuna. 😀 Got $1.50 in quarters, 2 Maya Angelous. 3 of them were in the same hole. 4 nickels, oldest was a 1975. It was in better shape than the others. 4 dimes, 4 memorials, and 6 Zincolns. One of the Zincolns had a cross stamped through it. Got a zinc frog ring and a lightning bolt earring. Also got my wife a cute bunny ring. 😁 Here's the junk, couple of vaping devices and the typical beach crap: Almost all the bottle caps were sight picked, the rusty ones got me. Maybe I need to turn up reject a bit. 😀 I dug the hairpins to see what a blank ID loud tone was. When I got back I looked over the gold chain with a loupe, it is complete and had a tag that sadly said "925 Italy" with an L and triangle. Looked it up and it is gold plated sterling. My wife still likes it. 🙂 At least I got some silver, and a chain to boot! I've read many times how the Equinox seems to miss them. I'll find out tomorrow (or not) when I return to head up the other way, the tide is in my favor again. 👍 Going to use the Equinox here. Most interesting thing I saw today was this sign on the beach, maybe it's true, maybe it's to keep people out of the dunes 😀 at least I didn't dig one of them. https://www.wtoc.com/story/38945488/tybee-island-warns-beach-goers-of-venomous-snakes-to-keep-them-off-dunes/
  9. Day 4 is in the bag. 😀 Went to the beach I hunted yesterday, this time with the Equinox and 10x5, and at low tide. I guess spring break is over, the morning was rainy and cloudy but it cleared up and there weren't many people at the beach. When I say tide, I mean tide. I told y'all about this last year, the tide goes out 10 feet. It's like a pool being emptied and filled! This is ground zero, see how high the beach is? It's above my head, and goes more than 3 feet higher than that. I'm 6'1". Yikes. The water is about 75 to 100 yards away from this edge. When the tide comes in, all this is underwater, 10 to 15 feet. Hacked around the flat for a while, checking that edge for any heavy stuff that went down there. Nothing but a few sinkers and coins close to the water, I searched everywhere. I was just about to quit, and went up on the hill about chest height to high tide, and then the targets started coming. Here's the haul, not very impressive. One big costume hoop, an odd copper earring with a greenish stone, 3 quarters, one memorial, what I think is a gold plated electrical connector, a big copper scary hoodoo earring, and 3 tiny things. This is where it gets interesting, the small metal thing with the loop next to the penny was over 12" down, and ID'd as a 12/13. It took forever to dig it out. I'm gonna go out on a limb here. 😬 Anyone that claims the 10x5 doesn't find deep targets is as wet as my shoes were. 😀 A tiny object like that is clear proof. 😎 It is small, thin, and not really great metal. The coil hit it like a brick. The next thing is my favorite find of the day, a broken earring. Again tiny, may be gold, may have real diamonds, I'm gonna test it. It was 3 big scoops down in hard packed and drained sand. It was a 14/15. That big copper earring with the moon and eye kinda creeps me, it has runes and stuff. 😀 It was also extremely deep, was a 20/21. While I was hunting a guy came up to me and asked if I wanted a mission - to find his friend's stainless steel wallet that he lost when they were fishing, a big cargo ship came by and swamped the beach, you better run when that 5-10 foot wave comes in! 🤪 I may look for it tomorrow. Here's the trash, turned on F2=3 to cancel out those dang bottle caps, three too late. 😵
  10. Sun finally came out, wind calmed down. This morning I headed to North Beach, didn't think many would be there on Easter Sunday. I wasn't wrong. It was cloudy at first but the sun came out strong over the 5 hours I was out there. The first hour I spent trying to find where people were, and going knee deep to high tide last evening. Really didn't find much. I think the storm wind yesterday pushed a ton of sand up, it was out of the north. Anything below high tide was completely gone. Coming back I did a little better on the towel line. I had some entertainment, a Coast Guard HH-65 "fantail" landed at the lighthouse. I hope it wasn't an emergency 😬 Not a heckuva lot today, but I did get something I've never dug before: A US Truman dollar, 2015 Denver mint. 🥳 I feel SO Australian... 😀 The total take was $1.53, my best day yet for coins, and a little gold ring that may be gold. I also dug a tiny stud earring, but dropped it when unloading my stuff. If I find it I'll post it, it was about the size of a BB, and was about 8" down. Solid but faint 64. Trash was typical for a beach, I turned on bottle cap reject after the first, the others were on top. It was fun to test it. Going to try the Equinox out there tomorrow, unfortunately the tide is advancing so I may go in the afternoon. 🙂 Seems to me I'll do just fine with Beach mode, sensitivity 97, bottle cap reject 3, Salt 5, Reactivity 1.5 Anything deep and faint was big iron.
  11. Cold, nasty windy day today. March still isn't over. 😵 I've been getting the RV and truck ready for a beach trip, but my wife wanted to rest a bit this afternoon, so she suggested I do some metal detecting. 😀 Happy wife, happy life. I decided to stick around and just hunt the yard for my tungsten ring that I have now lost for the third time, found it the last two times with my Equinox, it's a solid 12. It's really too big for my finger. It was only about a 3 hour hunt. Today I used the Deus 2, I originally went over my yard with my Ace 400, it's what got me into metal detecting. I poked around the front yard, only found some .223/5.56 shells from when a deputy friend of mine came over to zero. Also dug a .45 shell under one of my trees, and a few aluminum bits from when the house was built that sounded too good. I thought maybe I might have lost the ring in the driveway. I was surprised at how quiet the Deus is on gravel, the Equinox is pretty rough to use in a gravel driveway. It sounds off quite a bit. Managed to find two dimes, a nickel, and a penny in the gravel! Now I'm getting a sense of why others have found stuff in places they already detected, but I don't think I bothered to use the Equinox on the driveway. 😁 Didn't find the ring, so I went out in a field behind my house that was recently cleared. I've searched here before and dug nothing of interest, but was surprised. It's tough to swing a detector here, there is a lot of woody stubble left after the bush hog. I switched to Relic, as it will find large masses if held high off the ground. Instead I kept it at just above the stubble. Relic excels at beep/dig, there is only iron junk and the good stuff here, that's it. Here's the take: All modern coins and one 1700s Tombac button. I found a few of these Tombac buttons with the Ace which is what got me into this hobby. I've found a lot of them with the Equinox. There's something really cool about Tombacs, the waxy feel and knowing they are old as old can be in colonized America. With the Equinox you'll get a 4-9 with a bit of an iron tone, as usually the shanks were iron. On the Deus this was a solid 54 both ways, I was using Relic so the tone was of no use. Iron is 00 to 6. I dug no iron today except what I wanted to, I think I'm getting better at this. There were a few nails left in the driveway. I definitely like the Deus 2, I taught it to stand up today, going to try and teach it some more tricks. 🙄
  12. Went back to the same beach as yesterday to try out the D2. Walked the entire beach using Beach program with sensitivity at 97, Reactivity 1.5, and bottle cap reject at 3. Changed it to that from 0 after the first one. 😀 Nice path out to the beach, there was no wind and the mosquitoes were everywhere. This place is also famous for sand gnats that also are everywhere when the wind is calm. The wind and waves really eroded the beach yesterday, figured I might find stuff I missed with the Equinox, but I have to say my 600 with the 10x5 are one heckuva combo. I will give the Deus 2 a nod for depth, most of the coins I dug were 8" to foot down. However, I had already got most of the good stuff yesterday. I'm sure this place gets hit hard. Here's all I got, a couple of zipper pulls, one a Michael Kors gold plated pull (my wife told me how expensive those bags are), two nickels, two dimes. One dime was a 1967 and extremely deep. Also got one good Zincoln and a memorial, 32 cents, woohoo. 👍 I searched way up the beach to a point where I could see the lighthouse and found the hairpin. I think it's silverplate with CZs, but I'll test the stones. Tomorrow if the weather permits I'll go to the bigger North Beach where there should be a lot more stuff. Here's the junk, no fishermen to give my sinkers to. 🙄
  13. At the beach! 🥳 Today was reasonably warm but got pretty rank despite the location. It was windless at 7AM, but the wind came up, 25 mph with gusts to 35. First photo is looking out toward the river and ocean, second is looking back inland. The sand was blowing, it was like being sandblasted. 😵 Got out twice today, my wife was tired from the long drive, and after what I found the first time she wanted me to go out again.😀 I think she just wanted to take a nap, the wind was cold despite the temperature being in the 70s. When I first got there the tide was going out, only about a 6' tide today, but it got pretty low. I hunted around until I found the coin line, and then found where jewelry was sinking, about knee deep to the high tide, maybe lower. here's the first run haul, 3 rings I found in one spot, a gold plated copper bracelet, a gold plated copper leaf earring, and .78 in clad. I was surprised to find the infinity ring was .925! My wife took that one 🙄 Here's the trash, not too bad and pretty much what I usually get in 3 hours with the Equinox and 10x5. The Matchbox car was about a foot down, gave me a 30/31. 😀 I found a few of those bullet shaped pieces of lead all in one area, 3 different sizes. I was using F2=0 so the bottle caps got past me. I dug some sinkers and gave them to a fisherman. Took some gratuitous Island pics between hunts, I had some stuff to do. Second hunt was late afternoon for two hours, the wind was blowing the sand even more. Lots of large ships going up and down the river made surf hunting out of the question because of the huge wakes, but they were fun to watch. 😀 Got .61 more in clad, and a really cool shark tooth earring that may be silver. It was throwing 15-20s and was about 10" down in the saturated sand. Took a long time to find it. Trash to finds was a little higher, I was much higher on the beach along the towel line. Found some more of those strange lead points. Going to take the Deus 2 out tomorrow to this place to see if I can find anything else. 🙂 This is mostly a fishing spot that the sun sets on, so locals spend the afternoons here. There was one other detectorist out there with I think a Garrett AT, but it didn't look like he found much. He didn't stay long. Long tale but a great start!
  14. First time out with the D2 at the patch of grass I’ve found many mercs, barbers and a few seated. Right off the bat dug up a 1920s wheates at 7 inches minutes later dug a 1916s buffalo at 6 inches then 3 feet away scored a environmentally damaged 1867s seated dime😁at 6 inches my 5th seated coin from this patch of grass. These coins found today must have been on edge I’ve hit this area with the Minelab explorer, CTX, ATX and the tarsacci. I used #12 beach program with pitch tones, square sounds on the DEUS2. denny
  15. Hunting an old park/public ground. Got a little variety 10,15d,18 wheats, 18d Buffalo, 02 Indian and an 02 barber dime. Everything was in that seven to eight inch range except the last coin I dug which is not pictured. I was heading for the car and got a deep coin signal it was barely audible but consistent with a four way hit. I’m thinking alright I’ve got a deep old coin and possibly another barber dime. I called my friend over and told him I had a deep coin signal. I couldn’t believe it. The coin was very deep and when I got it out I just said “well crap”. It was a memorial penny. How it got there…who knows but it sure busted my bubble. lol I was running the Legend in park 1, 60 tones, G disc pattern and 29 sensitivity. The Legend is proving to be a very capable and fun machine to use.
  16. I decided to take my Nox with my new S-Shaft for a walk a couple of days ago to scout out a park I had been to before that used to have some houses on it between the late 1800s to 1960. The last time there I had found some wheat pennies, a WWII Army Great Seal coat button, some older looking brass suspender clips, and various other older looking artifacts. This area has some huge trees on it and when investigating I found a few of the older trees that had bed frames that had been enveloped by the trees as they grew. I figured there had to be more old items there so I decided to go back and try my luck. Well I wasn't there about 10 minutes when a Parks Department truck pulled up behind me on the side walk running through the middle of the park, so I figured my luck had just run out. Then another PD truck pulled up behind him, and then another. I was looking for my quickest getaway route when another truck with a back hoe on a trailer pulled up. A couple of the Parks Dept. workers gave a wave as they exited their trucks, but most of them just ignored me and got to work. There had been two trees that had blown over during the last wind storm and the stumps were still there, so they were there to remove the stumps. I just kept detecting at a safe distance and about 30 minutes later they had pulled the stumps, loosely filled the holes with whatever dirt came off of the stumps, and left. Well no one else was around so I thought, maybe this is my lucky day. Well after an hour or so of poking around the two stump holes and removing some old nails, bottle caps, and crockery, I got a few interesting signals. One was a jean button top which I don't think is too old. The next one was odd but solid 18 on the Nox and out came a square shaped pendant that says "The Deans List" on it. Well I was about to move on when I got a bouncy 22-23 coming through. I thought maybe it's a Wheatie or possibly an Indian Head penny, but what came out was an odd looking ring with one blue ball on it. I figured it was junk, but after wiping off the inside I could see "Sterling USA" stamped in it. Woohoo... Silver! I spent the next 15 minutes or so sifting the dirt for the missing ball with no luck, but It's a silver ring. I have no idea of the age but it's definitely different and I'll take it. The finds on the right side of the red line, except the crusty zincolns, are all from the stump holes. The gold looking ring which isn't stamped came from the field near the tree stumps along with the coins, the oldest of which was a 1959 Memorial penny. So while it wasn't an eath shattering day, I still got silver by being in the right place at the right time. Thanks for reading.
  17. Promised I would take the D2 out and try Relic mode, did just that today. Went to a place I have only half heartedly hit and only found some newer relics and 3 war nickels. The place is full of trash, some rather notorious folks live too close to it, and there is a guy who lets his aggressive dogs out. All in all not a great place. Half of it contains an older farmhouse I don't have permission to, and it's pretty much 95 acres of nothing. 🤬 I like Relic a lot, the go/no go way it works especially. You get pretty much the same tones for everything, but if you watch the screen for the TID, it's very informative. It has what I consider bugs, the ID doesn't stay long enough, and the audio goes from pretty quiet to full on 85db+ (you do get a warning) from 7 to 8. It will rip your head off. It also seems to go deeper than Deep HC, thanks @palzynski. 👍I have strong eardrums but 8 hours of pounding from this program would be a lot worse than a Styx concert, the loudest band I ever saw. 😀 Twice. 😬 I decided after about 3 hours to leave and go to another field, the last one I got a few really great buttons in. Well, and I've said this before, the D2 is a great machine but I've been there and done that with the Equinox. I had to go where I hadn't been in this field to find anything at all. 😵 I can't be that good, we will see next year when the field is turned. The take today: Not much. 🤣 Got a pistol ball, a dog collar tag that I can't show because my wife is remotely related to the owner, a really nice fat British button, and an IHP that is 188 something. 😀 So far I've run Deep HC, General, and now Relic. I dug much less trash today (not worth showing) because of the display, please don't tell me I'm missing stuff that 00 TIDs because I only dug one or two and they were iron. 🤗 Everything that didn't generate an ID near the 80s was junk. It's a pretty clean field, but general and Deep HC would have falsed on the iron. Relic rarely did. Anyway, my point here is to talk about the Relic program, not spectacular finds, and for sure I've wiped this place out for this year anyway. Good thing I made a little stop on the way to the last field, I visited the guy who catered my wedding about 15 years ago, a really nice guy who all his young life cared for a woman that owned two or 3 fabulous houses and almost 100 acres in a town nearby, definitely an 1800s vintage Southern mansion. The woman was a silent film star, and not only adopted him, she left him the whole thing and enough $$ to turn him into a "country gentleman". I was shocked to have him offer the entire yards and fields of all his houses with a challenge that I hope soon to write about succeeding in. He only wants that one thing, I can keep everything else. 🥳 Ya just gotta ask! 😀
  18. Was waiting for buddy to hollar for a permission hunt so in the meantime figured I'd take a quick run around the corner from my house and take a few swings. First coin a 1763 Danish Indies 24 Skilling. Paper thin silver in with iron. Trusty Tejon sniffed it out nicely. Later that day the permission hunt was crap lol.
  19. Its cold rainy and windy, and i was going to just forget about going out today, and then a thought came to me If you dont go you will find nothing for sure, So i went out and the 1st target that comes up is this merc dime . Hitting a solid 93 on my ORX i figured it was a cladd quarter but was pleasantly suprized when i seen it was a silver dime Attachments
  20. 6hrs roughly of deep Bush hunting for cw relics (my favorite). The barber was a nice 91 banger of a signal! Thought it was a plate(never dug one) was so excited and pleasantly excited seeing it wasn't a plate! Mostly fired bullets,if not all fired but hey I'll take em! The one looks flayed open is wild! This was a few hours 2 over 2 rained out days in hamilton county tn. The 1st day I dug several nails chasing broken,1 way signals running modified general program but once i got my head together and stopped chasing zero nails but a few modern bullets not shown (although i think 2 are modernish). 2nd day zero iron dug I didnt chase, only dug 2 way slammers! I sometimes get in a habit of chasing iffy stuff same on the nox because I've dug bullets 8-10" that beep iffy,iron,1way and it's a time consuming frustrating bad habit! 2nd day( pic with dime and bullets) ran mostly modified sensitive ft and enjoyed it alot although had to fight myself to not chase those iffy iron nails that sound good once every few wiggles one way I did chase 2/3 times but opened the hole to even worse signal, covered and moved on! These 2 days made me feel great about buying the D2! Deep Bush hunting nothing I've swung compared to ease of use and the signals when over something good were loud, clear and strong! Confidence building strong! I guess I didnt take with dime so 1st day pic with brush, second dime+bullets on towel(small batch) then combined on towel. I did dig 2-4 shotgun 12th Georgia's as well not in photos. Feeling happy to have something to share! Goodluck fellas
  21. Today I took the Deus 2 to one of my more difficult fields. It has a huge cell tower that absolutely obliterates the Equinox in certain places so I have to switch to single frequency. Chase brought his D2 here, noticed he wasn't complaining about interference from the tower. It's a lot closer than it looks. I only got a regular chirp from the tower rather than the crazy stuff, and a quick noise cancel (frequency shift) took care of that. It ran silent until I found a target. Walked along this road about a mile to the far tree line, there was a house here long ago. I've dug a lot of stuff here, all mid 1800s to early 1900s. Coins, relics were everywhere. Now not so much 😀 First things I found were two IHPs, one right after the other about 10' apart. One is 1899 and the other is kinda toasted. Can't get a year. About 3/4 of a mile later I got a tiny colonial button, a heavy finger size brass ring and a musket ball. Here is the haul for the day: Ended up with two musket balls, a pistol ball, and a 3-ring bullet of a caliber slightly smaller than the musket balls with rifling marks on it. Not sure what rifle would have fired this, it may be new but the lead says old. Got another non ferrous small ring, two keyhole pieces, a large trunk lock hinge, plated D buckle, and a watch winding knob. Dug an overall button, I think it says "Blue Bell", and my favorite find today, the best service button I've found so far. Did the flashlight trick on the back to highlight the complete shank and text. Sad these get bronze disease so bad. I learned to properly use the MI-6 pinpointer today. Almost didn't have to use my Carrot or the Quest pinpointer, but I had them both with me. Honestly I would have found all this with my Equinox, but the weight of the Deus 2 and the peripherals make it a big deal for me. Ran it in the General program today almost all day. The coil battery lasted much longer. Only setting I changed was Reactivity to 1.5 instead of 2. The last place I went over I ran the Deus in DeepHC, and found nothing new. Dug a ton of trash, I wanted to see if any of it was consistent. Not so much, but I didn't get much iron, getting better at that.
  22. I got out Saturday morning to my only permission. Second target was a buffalo nickel on the far end of the property. I then worked my way up near the old house in an area where I had been over before with both the nox and deus 2. This time I was in sensitive, program 2, but in full tones. I slowed down and just dug decent signals. I got an old junk pocket watch, a military pin with an eagle, another large pin that looks to be navy and a small broken pin or broach that looks to be silver, but has no markings. I also got another wheatie. On Sunday I hit some curbstrips in town and got in a hot spot where I pulled 10 wheaties. This wasn’t actually a curbstrip, but was a grassy area in front of a commercial gravel parking lot. There used to be two houses there and the grassy area was the front yards of those two houses. I thought for sure I’d hit a silver coin there, but no luck 😥
  23. It's been a few days since I've had a chance to get out, it's been windy and rainy here. I'm glad @strick kept y'all amused. 😁 The hill behind my house is being cleared again in order to make it more attractive to buyers, they finished clearing it last week. It's hard to tell in the photo but that hill drops away about 60 feet down to the river. I have hunted the heck out of the top of this hill, but rarely have I got a chance to hunt the slope as it gets overgrown very quickly. Maybe not so much now. The slope is basically a dump and why I call this Mason Jar Hill. There are a lot of Mason Jar covers buried here, and they ID from 19-31. 🤬 You just have to dig them all. Here's half of the trash I dug today, nails, bullets, shotgun shells and just plain junk. I had already dumped my trash bag once. Still got some pretty cool stuff, and ended with a coin in an area I have hit pretty hard in the past. I love the smell of this place, it smells like some kinda exotic spice when you dig, and there are spring flowers everywhere along with English ivy, two great indicators that a house was here, not to mention the brick and nails. 😁 Managed to get some complete flatware, the knife is much older than the spoon. It has an "H" monogram. The spoon still has quite a bit of silverplate on it, but I can't read the maker's marks. Got a hosiery clamp, an incredible stamped and clamped together filigree pendant, what I think is a clock flywheel, a small two piece button with a pattern, a two hole button with an anchor, and a 1940s wheat. Can't get a firm date. Here are some detailed pics: just glad it wasn't a "skunk" day, but I did dig up a hibernating toad and a small snake. 🤣 Both are doing fine. Wish I took pics of them.
  24. There’s a town park nearby that I’ve never detected. It has a woodchip totlot so I thought I’d get there early Saturday morning with the deus II and see what I could find. I hardly ever hit totlots, but I have limited places to hunt so I thought it would be worth a try. I spent about an hour in the totlot and only got $1.32 in clad and some junk. So I thought I’d hit some of the grassy areas of the park. This park isn’t very old but it was a nine hole golf course before. I think the golf course dates back to the 80s so not expecting anything really old to turn up. Before long I found an old shotgun headstamp. Then I found what looks like an old metal wheel off of a toy truck. Hmmm, I’m thinking maybe there was an old house here before the golf course. Just a few minutes later I get a very sweet sounding high tone in my custom general 1 program. It’s showing 92-93 on the tid. I was hoping for a silver dime but about seven inches down out pops a slick no date slq! I had to leave soon after that but I went back on Sunday hoping for more silver. Try as I might I only managed two wheaties (1918 & 1920) but did find some nice relics. Looks like I’ll be going back there more often!
