  1. APEX TESTING July 6, 2020: KG and Ringy's first video in a series of tests and tips on the new Garrett APEX metal detector. Dual volume controls are featured.

  3. Any word on when this detector is actually going to be available for purchase?
  4. The Ace Apex is a 100% silent search detector, that has no actual threshold control. I am curious what people think about that. Coming from a nugget detecting background I tend to be skeptical of detectors that have no threshold based all metal mode. On the other hand I also suspect most detectorists don’t care or even know what I’m talking about. The Apex to my knowledge is the first detector to be multifrequency capable and lack a threshold. Since all Ace models are silent search the Apex being an Ace model makes sense when looked at from this perspective. I can’t see it mattering to a lot of people except those who were maybe hoping for some 20 kHz nugget hunting chops. Threshold Autotune, SAT, and V/SAT

  6. The Garrett Apex will be out the middle of next month but we don’t know just when the N/M Lightning will show up. We do know it should be out before the years end . Garrett been giving us a sneak peek of the Apex . It looks with what I’d call a door knob on the face may be saying it’s maybe not totally digital. Like so many I’m wondering if it will be multi frequency are just be able to select what frequency you prefer to run . Garrett will have to pull out almost what I’d call a miracle to overcome the obstacle like the Nox. Now here comes Nokta/Makro with their new detector the Lightning and they know it’s got to be better if not equal to the Nox. I see myself waiting on the Lightning but it don’t make my dream come true I can always get the Apex. I keep forgetting a great low cost detector I don’t have and that’s the Vanquish. I already have the Simplex + and I think it should add another + with the 2.77 update. Being my Birthday is on the 15 th of May I really don’t like cake and who knows I may be eating crow . That’s if Garrett comes out with something great and at a great price. Garrett I truly wish you the best with the Apex. Chuck PS I know most of you want to know why I’m using the name Lightning. It’s the name I picked and it has a great ring to my ears.haha
  7. With the word ACE in the title its going to replace those I think or at least be a big boost to them. The Apex is I think going to kill Vanquish sales , its likely to be far better and has many more settings than the Vanquish. I don't care about waterproof on this machine. They are going for a lower end model not middle or top end. And I know some will say Simple X "As I call it"! That is simple and has 1 frequency and is I have heard a lover of Iron . I actually think it is a middle end machine and will take orders from their own top enders like the AT series. I will be buying the Apex . With numbers from 1 to 99 and 5 tones it will outgun the Nox on target info "multi tone on the Nox is poo" . It can be used in single freqs though there are not the places to save your own programs in each mode like the Nox. As for battery replacement , if the machine isn't waterproof then it most likely can be stripped down , maybe the battery can be done by any old Joe Bloggs ? Anyway I am on the list and I haven't anything that puts me off. Yet.
  8. Looks like the Apex is as good as my Nox at finding lots and lots of junk. lol
  9. I actually have no issue with the Ace Apex using the AT Max shaft and handle assembly. However, it should be easy for an adapter to come out for the Mars Universal shaft, an XP Deus knockoff. 10. http://www.thetreasuredepot.com/cgi-bin/bbs62x/detecting_config.pl?page=1;md=read;id=111585 ”Release date is in August some time.” These things always seem to take longer than planned. Don’t be holding your breath folks. It will be ready when it’s ready, and not before.
  11. “HYBRID AUDIO SYSTEM - The Apex target audio provides the simplicity of binary audio (found on existing ACE detectors) with the additional benefits of subtle proportional audio for faint targets.” Binary audio is a fancy name for “beep.” No sound, or full volume beep. A deep target sounds like a shallow target. Beep. Some people prefer this as they want to be sure to hear all targets no matter what. Proportional audio means the signal strength is tied to the volume, so now you have strong beeps and medium beeps and faint beeps. This allows experienced detectorists to tell a deep target from a shallow target, or better discern small targets from large targets. However, if you don’t have sharp ears you might miss that faint target. Almost everybody else refers to this as modulated audio. Garrett is claiming to somehow do both, creating a “hybrid audio.” Strong targets will be clean solid beeps, while fainter targets will be proportional. I guess I’m missing what the difference is here between Garrett’s hybrid audio and normal modulated audio. In modulated audio strong targets do deliver clean solid audio hits, which fade on the weaker targets to fainter audio responses. Sounds just like what they are describing with this “new” hybrid audio. Don't know, maybe there is some difference in what Garrett is doing compared to the rest. Regardless, I do prefer proportional or modulated audio myself as being more informative about the nature of the target. Good modulated audio makes any kind of depth meter redundant, which is why I guess I never look at them. Garrett Ace Apex features
  12. Garrett didn’t wake up one morning saying we got a new detector and we’ll call it Apex . It had to be a lot of field testing and with lots of testing comes videos. Garrett must have a lid on anything leaking out before the Apex goes on sale. Chuck PS Video made by someone other than Garrett what I’d like to see.
  13. hi steve! what do you think of this new coil? do you believe it is good for trashy sites? it appears to be a "compromise" to me! (h.h.!) j.t.
  14. I came across this you tube video of the Apex being “field tested”. After watching the video, it’s not much more than a promotional video, however there are a few areas of interest. Brian

  16. I don't see any mention of it being waterproof though, which is somewhat disappointing. Hopefully I just missed that.
  17. hello! does anyone know if the "apex" was beta tested in trashed parks before it was released!...i don't see any evidence that this was done by garrett's payroll help,or anybody else? i am assuming it was given to "regular folks" to use in everyday settings! i need and want to see there "input!"..non-biased test results!..c/mon garrett you know you did this!..lets see it in print! (h.h.!) j.t.

  21. There is no mention so far of any ability to update the new Apex via the internet. Still, the detector is charged via a mini-USB connector so it is possible the capability exists and Garrett has not mentioned it. It seems to me a brand new tech like this from Garrett almost requires this feature. Otherwise, a fairly high possibility exists of the detector needing to be returned for an update at some point. It is not like AT series introductions have been flawless and without revisions. Just something for those eager to be early buyers to consider. Garrett Ace Apex Data & Reviews
  22. “MultiFlex” was the technology name used in some of the early Vanquish “info” on the tabloid MD sites. I wonder if there was leaked info about this that got mixed up with the Vanquish??? Or maybe it’s some kind of VFlex tech collaboration or licensing????
  23. They only have one compatible coil so far. "Fully waterproof, the Viper is a blend of two of Garrett’s most popular DD coils. The 11" size is large enough to cover plowed fields, but its narrow 6" footprint allows easy separation of targets in iron-infested areas. The Viper is designed as a low-impedance, broad-bandwidth coil to support the new Apex Multi-Flex frequency technology. Note: As a result of the Multi-Flex coil technology, the Apex Viper coil is not compatible with older ACE detectors. Prior ACE coils are not compatible with an Apex detector."
