  1. Anyone use one of the Nel Snake or Cors Shrew 3.5"x 6.5" coils on your AT Gold and if so what do you think of it? Is it worth the money? Does it do anything the stock 5"x8" coil don't? Thanks for any input as i am thinking about getting one for the AT Gold i just bought.
  2. The AT Max is Garrett’s latest machine following the AT Pro and AT Gold. The Teknetics G2+ is one of the First Texas 19 kHz variants (Gold Bug Pro, F19, G2, G2+)
  3. How does this detector work for gold detecting? Thanks Bill
  4. Of these two detectors which one would you choose for detector prospecting ? I know the AT GOLD has a higher 19 KHz than the MXT I believe at 14 KHz which is quite a difference. I see a lot of people like them both and read Steves article on gold detectors. I have a chance to get a 2 month old MXT all Pro with 2 extra coils one being the 4x6 Sharpshooter for about the same price as the Garrett AT GOLD new. Another thing is I would like the detector to do all metal for coins etc but that is not a must but would sometimes be useful to have. Feedback appreciated or other suggestions in the same price range I also thought about the Minelab X-terra 705 gold. Thanks Bill
  5. Looking real serious on the AT PRO for an all around detector that will not break the bank. How is this detector as far as prospecting like some small gold nuggets maybe with some luck. Feedback greatly appreciated Thanks Bill
  6. The last half of this video shows a Garrett AT Gold being opened up. The information should be useful for Garrett AT Pro and AT Max owners also.
  7. Garrett AT Max Instructional Video Part 1 Published on Sep 20, 2017 by Garrett Metal Detectors - This first part of the instructional video introduces Garrett’s AT Max, followed by instructions on the assembly of the metal detector. Garrett AT Max Instructional Video Part 2 Published on Sep 21, 2017 by Garrett Metal Detectors - Part 2 of the AT Max Instructional video shows Basic Controls, Z-Lynk Wireless Operation, Target Information, Selecting Modes, Audio Tones and Iron Audio Features, Notch Discrimination, High-Resolution Iron Discrimination, Volume Adjustment, Audio Threshold Adjustment, Frequency Adjustment, Sensitivity Adjustment, Backlight
  8. Well, pretty much what I expected. An updated AT Pro with built in wireless headphone capability, and Ace 400 style display (larger target id number) with meter backlight. They did add the true all metal mode that the AT Pro lacked, but at the same time dropped the frequency from 15 kHz to 13.6 kHz. This along with increased transmit power makes for a better coin and relic detector, and therefore it would not surprise me if a higher frequency version as an alternative to the AT Gold is still waiting to be revealed. Or it may be that Garrett will just let the AT Gold ride as is. Unlike everyone else Garrett does not seem very focused on the gold prospecting market. Garrett AT Max Features: Built-in Z-Lynk™ Wireless Technology Cut the cord! Integrated circuitry transmits audio to your wireless headphones. Six times faster than Bluetooth speed! Auto pairing. No cables, and no interference from other wireless devices. New Garrett MS-3™ Z-Lynk Wireless Headphones included The speed of Z-Lynk Wireless Technology, and high-fidelity audio . . . with no cords attached! Maximum Detection Depth Increased transmit power and enhanced electronics provides AT Max with significant depth increase. True All Metal Mode Detects all types of metal and provides the greatest possible detection depth and sensitivity. Backlight: Illuminates LCD screen for improved visibility in low-light situations. Optimized 13.6 kHz Frequency. The AT Max’s 13.6 kHz operating frequency provides excellent detection on a wide range of targets—including silver coins, gold jewelry, and brass relics. High Resolution Ground Balance Automatic and manually adjustable for improved performance. Includes 175 points of Ground Balance resolution, allowing the AT Max to handle both conductive soils (such as saltwater beaches) and highly mineralized ground. Automatic Ground Balance Window™ Garrett Exclusive feature will simultaneously ground balance to a range of values to help overcome localized ground variations. By reducing subtle ground responses, the Automatic Ground Balance Window smooths detector audio and allows the user to hear faint targets. Larger Display Numbers: Digital Target ID number, Iron Discrim number, etc. More Controls—All easily accessible with a single finger as you search. Iron Audio™ Hear discriminated iron (normally silenced) to avoid digging tricky, undesired flat iron items. All Metal Iron Audio™ Garrett Exclusive feature that audibly identifies discriminated iron while operating in a True All-Metal Mode. Adjustable Frequency Small frequency shifts to eliminate interference. All Terrain Versatility Fully submersible to 10-foot (3 meter) depth. Weatherproof design also protects against dusty and humid environments. For underwater use, optional wired headphones must be used. Digital Target ID—0 to 99 scale. High-Res Iron Discrimination™ 44 points of iron resolution. Adjustable Threshold User can manually adjust the audio threshold (the constant background sound or “hum”) to better hear faint targets. Pulse Width Modulation Audio Proportional PWM audio response and Tone Roll Audio provide more target information and sharp, responsive target signals. 11. From the Garrett Facebook page... "AT MAX UNITS ARE SHIPPING! The first shipment of AT Max detectors departed our Garland, Texas, dock last week. Another shipment went out yesterday. More will follow today and more will continue daily going forward, both U.S. and international models. Please bear with us, as this will take several weeks to fulfill our backlog of orders. But, the good news is that your distributors (and then dealers) will be receiving units as we continue rolling forward. Regarding Z-Lynk products and MS-3 Z-Lynk Wireless Headphones . . . all orders have shipped and Garrett has ample quantities in stock for new orders. We encourage our dealers to stock up on these hot items as the busy fall selling season is upon us. To our loyal customers: THANK YOU for your patience as we opted to improve the AT Max this summer."
  12. "We will begin building and shipping the new AT Max detectors after the Labor Day holiday. Please be aware that it may take several weeks to completely fulfill our backlog of orders both internationally and domestically, but the wheel is in motion."
  13. Published on Aug 4, 2017 - Testing the new Deus HF elliptical coil against the Garrett AT Gold on a gold earring.
  14. According to several threads at Findmall the AT Max is not available and could be as late as September. I have to say I was a little surprised to find out Garrett has also joined the "announce way before ready" club. Quite a few other people appear to be surprised as orders were placed thinking the machine would be available soon. Those orders are now getting canceled by at least a few people.
  15. On American Digger Relic Roundup at http://www.spreaker.com/user/admrr/steve-moore-talking-about-the-at-max
  16. The Garrett AT Max page is now live on the Garrett website. Pdf Color Flyer here Coil and accessory options listed below. Click on images for larger versions.
  17. Garrett claims to have improved the salt water handling with the new AT Max model. Bottom line is the AT Max is a single frequency VLF so no reason to get overly excited. However, improved salt water stability over the existing AT models will no doubt be welcome.
  18. Over on the MD- Blog that got a video talking about a new detector from Garrett call AT Pro 2 Wireless. I'm not sure this is the total way to go. The big thing when you go wireless is the price has to go up. You say why well anytime you have to add electronics it can't help to cost more. I have the Deus and I like it because of it's lite weight but I paid big time for that pleasure. The weight factor may not hold true with the AT Pro are maybe a MX Sport. That six foot of cable is not going remove a lot of weight when you have to add more electronics to be wireless. Chuck
