  1. hello I'm Italian, I recently bought a deus2 and I also own a ctx3030, my research is done exclusively in the sea and a bit of beach
  2. No clue what I'm doing here, hope you will excuse my ignorance. I ran a White's proto type UW detector for some years, I gave it back to the friend that loaned it to me, he then loaned me a Nokta simplex that I used for a few months. Well he called that back to raise funds for a 15" coil for his Nox 800 So I got somewhat familiar with Simplex and wound up getting a Nokta Legend pro pack so here I am in a brave new world. I ran the Legend for about a haft an hour at a small park with the 6" coil mostly in park mode, a,g,f and C with the 1.06 update.
  3. Hello! I am just starting out metal detecting. My detector is the Nokta Makro Legend, my first real detector. I live in Southern NH. So far I have done a little detecting on a farm but that permission isn't working out. So I have been going to parks, local hiking trails, the woods. Best find so far was an OX Knob and an Indian Head penny. I will be at BONE 29 in April. Biggest challenge is of course, getting permissions. It seems like I am going to have to do some door knocking. Anyway, shout out to all my NH diggers. Nothing better than digging a hole in NH. lol Anyone want to share a sweet permission, let me know! 🙂
  4. hello everyone, I discovered this beautiful forum I could not resist signing up, I hope to have a good stay😅
  5. I was last here back in 2014 I think . Hope to share some of my adventures scoring gold in the desert . Cheers & Beers Jack
  6. Hi everyone. my name is Ian and I’m from Scotland.I have recently took an interest in gold panning on my local burns, well I say local but they are an hour away. I have some equipment to get me started, but mostly crevice tools. The burns of the area I have interest in have been well panned and sluiced, but mainly the deeper pools. Greed gets the better of folk and they leave big piles of gravel high up on the bank, which is so unnecessary considering There are fish and invertebrates the fish eat, just plain lazy. i have joined this forum to hopefully gain some knowledge and correspondence with like minded folk. ian.
  7. Hello, I hope to learn and enjoy joinning this forum.
  8. I'm new to the forum - I just joined yesterday. I stumbled in from a Google search about XP pin pointers. I've been using an Equinox 800 for the last 3 years, and just picked up a Deus 2 with a 9" coil. I haven't been out with the Deus 2 yet. I plan on devoting some time to learning the machine in my test garden and then hit some of my favorite sites once the temperature stays above freezing for several days. I hunt mainly old house/former settlement sites along with the occasional park for a change of scenery. You'd be surprised how many small villages there used to be along the railroads and rivers in mid and southern Michigan. Once the forests were all logged off, many faded away or were absorbed by a neighboring larger town, leaving lots of nails, iron junk, and when I'm lucky, the occasional relic or old coin. So far the posts and discussions I've read here appear to be conducted on a more cordial and helpful basis than some other sites I have frequented in the past. Thanks for having me - Regards, Bill
  9. Hey all, newcomer here and to metal detecting. Just got my eq 600 2 days ago, high followed the first rain here in over 2 months and of course, it was a doozy. If you’ve ever wondered what it would be like for a 10 yr old to get one of the coolest presents ever, but made to look at it for days, sitting there, mocking you…well if you want to know, I’m your guy. Anyway, anxious to learn all I can from yall’s experiences and knowledge of the science. Thanks!
  10. Hello, am a metal detectorist / amateur historian for about 15 years. I have used Whites, Nokta Makros and Fisher metal detectors. Main reason I signed on was to share and learn what settings and hints others may have. Will visit those forums here...I wont post pictures of finds here, I do that over on Treasurenet.com on occasion. Good luck fellow hobbyists !

  12. Currently living in Sonora Ca. I’ve been chasing the yellow metal for about 45 years. Now, at 70 it’s getting a little harder but I’ll be at it till the end. I’m more than happy to share what I can and believe it or not, I’m still learning…. (I’m a short bus candidate) currently have a nox 800 that’s testing my patience and a monster 1000 that I’m falling in love with… Tom T
  13. For any "Wheel of Fortune" fans out there - I will be a contestant on tonight's show. During my audition video I spoke about my many hobbies including my 50 years of metal detecting but Pat never asked me about it during my introduction. However, it might have helped get their attention when they were screening applications. I made a lot of mistakes on the show but it was still a lot of fun.
  14. I finally signed up after years of following this forum, I enjoy reading what Steve and the rest of you have to say about this hobby. I look forward to contributing anything that I think may be helpful. I live in Northern California and mostly coin hunt I've recently purchased the Deus 2 after years of using the E Trac and Deus 1. Happy Hunting to all.

I’m in Quartzsite for now with my 7000 planning to go back to where I found gold last year and use the 19 inch coil to go deeper. 20. I've been lurking for a few years, thought it was time to join. Started detecting in the mid 70's after I got out of the Army. And of course life a a few wives got in the way so the detectors stayed in the closet until I retired in 2016. Since then I've tried and owned several detectors from the Notka fors for gold, fisher gold bug, whites 24k. nox 800, GM1000, and of course my favorite the deus. If you haven't guess by now I've done a little prospecting, started in the early 1980's while I was living in Las Vegas, a one eyed prospector named Charlie got me started. Like many old guys I have problems, one of which is my shoulder, so because of the weight, most of the detectors have found a new home. I still have the Deus and GM1000. The Deus I use in parks, tried it and the ORX for prospecting but found they do not like the Arizona desert, some how dust finds it way under the screen and the screen goes haywire, rolling from one program to another. (High pressure air hose solves the problem) The GM100 is fine, but I hate the shaft. Bob
  21. Hello to all, I am somewhat new to metal detecting. Just purchased 2 new detectors 1 for me and other for wife or back up. Looking to meet and learn.
  22. I thought I had joined this forum some time ago, but the the pandemic hit and I pretty much lost all sense of time, so here we are. I've been detecting and gold panning/prospecting and general rock-hounding since the mid 1980's. I lived in Northern California in what we affectionately called the "Nevada Panhandle" while in the military. Explored much of the desert and forests of the region and otherwise had a blast in all the open and wild spaces. Moved back to the Midwest in the 90's where activities have been mostly metal detecting, but I do have an interest in drift diamonds. Got a Fisher CZ-20 in the late 90's so I eventually took up SCUBA diving. I currently live near Mineral Point, Wisconsin where lead was discovered in 1828. There are lots of old tailing piles around and I occasionally dig around in them. Detecting wise, I focus on old home sites and farms. A few times a year I go into towns and hit the parks or fair grounds, but mostly try to find undetected locations (yes, they do exist!). I bought a really nice beach scoop in February of 2020 with ambitious plans, but you can guess how that worked out... I currently use an Equinox 800 as my primary detector, but have/have used detectors from Fisher, White's, and Tesoro. Finally, my forum name in case anyone was wondering: I currently work in environmental restoration on grasslands and savanna and use prescribed fire as one of my restoration tools. I figure if I ever started a band, the name would be "Johnny Phoenix and the Fires Starters". This longstanding joke has led to my on-line alter-ego as Johnny Phoenix, who's way cooler than I'll ever be. JP
  23. So I came here to register an account today and it said my username was already registered. Apparently I registered here back in 2017 but never got around to posting. I see a lot of familiar names and I really like the technical oriented atmosphere, so been meaning to start participating for a while. Anyway, here I am! Better late than never. 😄
  24. Hello! Just throwing out a feeler if any reputable members here in said vicinity might be interested in meeting up for some detecting this week.
