Hello, I like the oldschool format of a Forum over a Facebook, But i do use facebook for local detecting groups. Ive been detecting for about 25 years now. I mostly just hunt coins/jewelry/relics. I live in upstate New York. My village was founded around 1807 and was a militia training ground from about 1807 to 1830 ish. My village had about 35 + participants in the War of 1812. I got full permission to detect and keep anything on ALL of my Villages property free and clear :). Lots of good stuff has come out of here. Basically all able body people that lived here during the Civil War was required to participate in that. I basically live in what has been a military complex for a very long time but was never owned by the Federal government. Ill be asking questions in about a detector decision in another thread. Just wanted to introduce myself, say hello, and get some info a potential detector purchase. THANKS!

Hi, I have found DetectorProspector to have some very knowledgeable members and there is great information on the site, so I thought it was time that I registered. I live on a British island which is 14 miles from the French coast and we have a rich history. I mainly detect the beach for military relics from the British wars with France and the island's German occupation during World War 2. Though I never target jewellery, I very much enjoy undertaking recoveries on a voluntary basis and have reunited a dozen people with lost rings since I started detecting a couple of years ago. I use an XP Deus in the fields and a Minelab Equinox 600 with 15in coil on the beach. I look forward to contributing. Thank you.

Hi all! I’ve been out nugget hunting and as you can see from the picture if casings and bullet fragments were the objective I’d still be piss poor. After 15 hours of searching around the East Fork San Gabriel and around Acton that’s all I’ve found! I just got Jim’s Advanced Nugget hunting though so now I’m ready! Think I’m going to try upper Piru. Y’all be cool. Look for my 17 Gram gold chunk as soon as I find it and update here!

My name's Kyle, I'm 34 or so frm Colorado springs I started out detecting last September after seeing some YouTube videos. Saved up and bought a harbor freight machine. Fet I hit the jackpot with my first hobby that actually made me money, with all the coins I was finding. Still wasn't finding anything great like I was hoping for, so saved up, and bought a simplex after last Christmas. Turns out the cool finds were to follow buying the simplex. I'll have to post some of my best finds. A little late, but better late than never.

Well here we go.. I have been metal detecting off and on for about 20 years I got my first detector when I was about 9. I WAS HOOKED. It was a solo thing so I found myself alone while detecting. I went out now and then but school came first THEN CAME THE INTERNET... OMG there were some forums but nobody really went to them so I kind of moved on. Only until a month ago I NEVER posted pics or videos online. THE DAWN OF SOCIAL MEDIA FOR ME I had a Facebook page but it was a so so personal page, I forget how but i came across a video about someone metal detecting and I saw that he had a TON of subscribers, it was at that moment I realized was not that alone. I started posting on FB of my finds and people started asking if I had a YouTube page I said no, they said you should. At first I thought NAAAA who the heck wants to watch me. More and more people kept asking. So one day I said OK. It has been just over a month and I am AMAZED AND SHOCKED I have almost have 400 subscribers. It is INSANE...lol. I have met SOOO MANY amazing people online that detect as well, It is so cool how many people there actually are out there and that it is a world wide hobby. Being a new member I am enjoying reading a lot more about metal detecting and other interesting new and comments from other members here. Just getting back into Metal detecting after being away from it for some years.

Hi, just purchased my first metal detector yesterday and looking forward to exploring with it. It's a Minelab Gold Monster 1000, since I live in the gold belt of N. Georgia it seemed like a good choice from all the positive reviews of it. I found it on sale for $659 which I thought was a good deal, but enough of that....I tried posting the link for others on this site to get it but was unfortunately flagged and banned for posting the link. Thankfully the ban was lifted and I'm back. Looking forward to get the detector in my hands and learn the ropes! - Dirt Wagon

I am a new to detecting starting out with a Minelab Equinox 600, living in Connecticut I will have the chance to work beaches but will usually focus on parks and private sites looking for coins and relics. I have seen already that the Equinox is a fairly advanced machine and will take some time to get used to, so far I have been digging everything and found a few modern coins and a lot of aluminum pop tops, cans and bottle caps. I seem to be picking up a lot from the more experienced users on this forum and appreciate the info and sharing you all do. I will stick with Park 1 , noise balance , and auto ground balance for now until I get the VDI numbers down but hope to branch out as I learn more. Thanks for the great introduction to this hobby

It seems that many here knew my grandfather, and I only hope that I can gain the same respect that he had from man of you. I am new at this so please forgive me if I make a few mistakes along the way. I love fishing, hunting, and most of all family. I have my grandfathers equipment to learn and use and I have a lot to learn about this type of hunting. I went with my grandfather to several countries searching for lost treasures underwater, but never anything like this. I have used sonar, side scan sonar, and my grandfathers underwater detectors with UAV's. Caleb

Hello all, My name is Andy. I got my first detector, a Detectron Go-Fer (which I still have!) in 1974 and was hooked. Currently using a Fisher F75 as my main machine, with a Nokta Simplex+ as a backup. I hunt mainly schools and parks for coins and jewelry. For some reason only just found this forum, but looks like a great design for the site as a whole. Looking forward to good reading and learning!

Hi, I've been reading the forum for a while now and enjoying the depth of knowledge and expertise, and the love of finding things. I started detecting about 30 years ago, wrote a few articles for the UK 'Searcher' magazine and then had a break while working and raising a family. Returned about 5 years ago and still love it. I'm particularly not looking for deep finds, the coins I love are tiny and thin hammered silver, or the thin copper 17th Century traders tokens - in my part of England the low value small coins are far more common that the big ones - only a small part of the wealth from London moved to my area. So the method on the ploughed fields is slow and careful and pick around the iron debris with minimal discrimination, its a compromise I like and it works for me - the Tejon being my go to machine. I find all the normal big stuff of course, but I'll wait for the plough to pull it up. Surface finds are always welcome, and Neolithic flint turns up now and again and later pottery and glass, etc. The US cent for scale of course. The smallest silver coin James I halfpenny of around 1625. The bone dice of GIIIR with its mark to show tax paid. Regards Stu

Been relic hunting and metal detecting for quite a few years...getting back into it after a hiatus for a few years (sometimes life gets in the way). What I like the most about the hobby is the historical research that goes into finding sites. Besides metal detecting, I also enjoy hunting for, and collecting, Native American artifacts as well as old bottles and marbles. Happy hunting!

Hello everyone, I am a treasure hunter from the Loess Plateau in northern China. I am very happy to come here to meet you. With my current simple experience, I cannot determine the use of a machine suitable for our local soil. I would like to ask all the experts to consult. The pure loess plateau here is less mineralized, the soil layer is pure, and there are very few rocks. I am currently optimistic about the machines, Whites Spectra v3i, AKA SiGNUM MFD, mostly Xp35 and Minelab. I want to buy a deep A good machine is mainly looking for silver coins and copper coins. I hope you can give excellent suggestions. In addition, I want to know if the depth of the Whites TDI SL pulse machine can exceed V3I and Aka.
